Highly recommend, great staff

A really fun resort for couples or a group of friends, there’s always great events going on as well as foam parties or beach parties through out the resort, with that being said you can still be able to find your quiet time. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time and food was great! Must try the mamajuana!

14th Anniversary Getaway!

My husband and I spent our 14th Wedding Anniversary at the RUI Republica! Booking with Cheap Caribbean was easy peasy and was an enjoyable experience. All my questions and concerns were addressed! We did experience some flight issues with AA…flight out of OKC was very, very late taking off. We thought we would miss our connecting flight to DR! We were fortunate, they held the plane for us, (not only us, there were 10 other people)! Our travel to and from the airport was very well handled with AmStar! Keep in mind the RUI is the last resort to be dropped off…it’s about am 45-minutes to an hour ride! This adult only resort is large and can be quite taxing on one’s legs! Checking in was easy enough! Although, I asked for a room on the second floor or higher we got one on first floor…no worries! We did have a pool view and not a courtyard one…so YEAH! Our room was bright and spacious and modern! Do keep this in mind, you may get 4 bottles of conditioner in your room and no soap or lotion until you ask for it! Maybe the English is not understood on the bottles…..just a thought! The food in the buffet restaurant was the best! Full of variety and the juice bar in the morning was Excellent!! We did try a few of the “Specialty” restaurants…stay away from the “ITALIAN” and “INDIAN” restaurants! I would say the RUI should get an East Indian and an Italian chef to instruct their Chefs on how these meals should be prepared! The Steakhouse was very good! I had the Salmon which was very good and hubby had the ribeye he enjoyed it! We did wait over an hour for our main course, but other than that it was very good! The wait staff at the RUI is friendly and will try an assist you to the best of their ability! Giving or leaving a tip $ 1 or 2.00 when drinks or food is bought to you tends to go a long way! The hotel is quite a way from the actual beach about a 10 minute slow saunter from our hotel room. It is CROWDED and busy with vendors! I did not enjoy that part of it! I have been to Punta Cana before and we did not have those issues at the resort where we stayed! I also noticed that the sand was very dirty…meaning they do not rake it or pick up the trash. Plus, it seems that they have left the sand that gets washed up on shore to build up….you have to climb over the build up to get to the ocean! You cannot see the surf if you are laying on the sun lounge! I am being picky…I hope not! It’s probably not fair to compare the RUI to the other resorts I have previously stayed at! We did venture off the resort, took a day trip To Santo Domingo…loads of fun! Full of history and great sites were on the agenda! It is a full day with loads of walking, so be prepared! All in all our stay was enjoyable and we did have a good time! Not sure if I would stay at the RUI Republica again though!

Great vacay for the price

Resort was close to the beach and the pool swim up bar was great. Food was bland but edible. We ate only at the buffet because the restaurants weee randomly closed and had long waits. Plenty of space on the beach and the pools were not crowded. They have plenty of activities. Enjoyable experience and would definitely return.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

A palatial retreat where the mixin' and the minglin' is only with adults - no kids or crying babies at this resort.

You're located on Dominican's Macoa Beach - the mind-boggling ocean views go on for days.

Taking the introductory scuba lesson (it happens in the pool) - you'll be ready for the ocean waters in no time.

The pools are spacious - you won't bump into each other - no one wants to be that close (especially if the bathrooms are faraway).

When you're ready for your next cocktail, all you have to do is just swim on over to the bar.

Detoxing in the steam bath at the gym (all those icky work impurities will stream out of your pores).

The whirlpool bath that makes you feel like a jelly fish.

What We'd Change

The resort is large, but you really don't feel crowded and the restaurants can accommodate everyone easily and there is plenty of room at the pools.

Why You Should Go

So close to the airport you'll land and be at the resort in a flash - you want your vacay to start immediately!

The Mediterranean-style village Altos de Chavon is near - authentic architecture, swoon-worthy boutiques, cafes & more.

Also in Altos de Chavon, check the Amphitheatre for Kandela! - don't miss this Caribbean musical review.

See the lush landscapes at the Punta Cana Ecological Reserve: plants, animals, coral reef, freshwater lagoons & more.

Hone your golf skills and tune up your tennis swing - both are available near the resort.
