Good, but not what I expected

The people were wonderful. Drinks and service were awesome. There was a problem with our reservation at the hotel. They worked to fix it promptly. Rooms were not as fancy as other Rius we have visited. Air conditioner was not cool enough at night although one of the couples in the group said theirs was super cold. Room cleaning could have been a bit better. Wish the swim up bar pool would have had the fun activities the other Rius had. Only had music at the pool at times. There was the main buffet and 3 restaurants. Some evenings only the buffet and one restaurant was open, so not much of an option for dinner.

Great time

We went with a group of 12 friends and had a really great time. Truly enjoyed the adult only option. We had privileges at 2 other resorts that was family friendly. I thought the food was good. Don’t expect what you would get at home. It isn’t the same but there are so many options you can find something. The pools were nice. My only recommendation is to not close them down so early. Even another hour would have been nice. Consistent music would have been a plus too. There were a couple of days with no music. Not a deal breaker but it would have added to the fun. The wait staff was great. They were very patient with all of the patrons and took good care of us. We had great excursion options and really enjoyed those as well. What you see in the media is a lot of sensationalism and it is too bad. I recommend this as a vacation to anyone considering going.

Dont Expect too much! It is Very basic

Don't believe that is a palace, but what you see on the videos and pics online is too much for what it is. Overall the resort is basic nothing fancy but I would never get back to anyof the RIU's in Punta Cana. Employees are rude, not professional at all and definitely hate their job. Check in was fast and basic, they don't even take their time to explain to us where to find stuff and forgot to give us the bracelets, just until next day when we got denied to one of the restaurants, we realize that they forgot to give us this important item. Beach was full of algae and hotel don't even care to pick it up or at least clean it, everyone was forced to be around the pool area that ridiculously closed at 6 pm. even before when cleaning staff start to poor bleach out mixed the pool water trying to send people away from common areas. Room was basic very outdated, they don't change the sheets and the worse of all A/C was bad, we request to change and they don't even care to give us a room with an A/C working they just move us but you can see that they don't even care, at the end they just put us in the same kind of room that we had an even dirtier than the one before. Food was tasteless you can see that leftovers were used again but in different presentations apparently, they show 5 restaurants but just 2 are working, whenever we ask about the Japanese or the stake house they just avoid to give a real explanation so we were forced to eat in the only two buffets open. Overall, Don't stay is the crapy hotel! please, dont fall into de RIU brand not all the hotels are the same in the brand but specifically, this RIU PALACE MACAO HOTEL is simple, bad and very basic.

First Timer

My Fiancé and I went to Punta Cana for the first time and we stayed here at the Riu Palace Macao. The entire staff made us feel super welcome and like Royalty, that being said, the facility could have been better, smelled musty and the A/C wasn’t good in out room; the Front Desk Agent switch our room, solving this issue, but the first two staffers did nothing about my room situation.
