Not again

First time in the Dominican and we were not impressed with the resort. Considering we get to our room drop off our luggage go to dinner have a few cocktails and hit the hay for the night. I wake up to finding dried blood on the sheets! It was very clear that it did not come from either of us. Went to rhe reception desk, told them what we encountered and they basically took as no big deal and will have clean sheets put on our bed! Which should of been done before we arrived. That moment on set the mood for rhe rest of our stay.

HORRIBLE!!!!

We were promised a double queen or full size bed for three people in one room. We got 1 king size bed and a pull out twin size couch. When we went to the front desk to ask for the appropriate accommodations they said that the website is wrong and the beds are actually double twin size beds and the room we got was the best accommodation for us. On the website we were promised room service. My two friends got really sick and I tried to order room service and they said “we don’t do room service”. So I went to get them food and they stopped me at the door with the food and told me I couldn’t bring any food to my room. This was very upsetting because they were not well and needed food. TMI: I got my period on my vacation (I know bummer right). I needed to get tampons so we went to the pharmacy at the resort. In America a pack of 20-30 tampons will cost you somewhere around $20. I get to the pharmacy and the price on the bottle says 550. I do the currency exchange on my phone and that puts a pack of 10 tampons at $10 (which made sense to me). I go to the counter with the item an the guy up charges me $20. I call him out on it and he shrugs his shoulders and says am I gunna get it or not. He definitely took advantage of my woman circumstance. I was so upset. You only get good service if you are dangling dollar bills. My friends had other worse stories but I’m only talking about my experience. At check out they tried to charge us more money for “outgoing phone calls” because we had to call the hotel directly since the reception number does not work in the room. OHHHH and the food is GARBAGE!!!!!! And the drinks are TRASHHHHHH!!!! The only good food spot is Habachi and the other is the American spot in the morning.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The spa, your escape-haven, with treatments that chase your worry right out to sea.

The coolio liquor dispensers in your room. You'll never go thirsty.

Their mantra that rings true, "Service with Heart."

RiuLand - the kids' club with a pool and a playground so you can take a much-needed breather.

The way the resort is bungalow-style and oh-so beachy. Big points for exterior style.

The soothing sauna at the gym - perfect for chilling after your very productive workout.

What We'd Change

All of the gift shops at the resort are a bit expensive. So pack extra batteries for the camera, sunscreen and other essentials to save your pennies for the spa.

Why You Should Go

You can share all the cool stuff with the sister resorts except for the restaurants.

Don't miss boating to Isla Saona Island - the water, the sand, the everything is unforgettable.

There are world-class golf courses you can swing by any time you're craving the green.

Epic excursions aren't too far away - Marinarium Marine Park and Altos de Chavon.

There are two floodlit tennis courts, but if you aren't up for that, then there's table tennis.

Check out Caribbean Street - there's a variety of shops and you can get your dance on at Pacha.

Ride the pedaloes aka paddle boats, or ride a horse at Caribbean Cachondeo. Hop on.

Water park with slides, tobogans, kids pool, sun terrace and snack bar.
