Great time, wouldn’t return

This resort was completely “fine.” I traveled with my mother here for a weekend in January. It’s about 30-40 minutes from the hotel without traffic. There is not much of a beach view from any part of the resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were great and the swim up bar was fabulous. The “included” activities and excursions with the package were not included and rather expensive. I was fine with paying $40 for an afternoon of snorkeling, but it was advertised as free. The real issue here was the food. The food at the buffet was HORRIFYING. Guests would pick apart serving dishes and platters with their hands, children would lick items and put things back, while the staff observed and did nothing. The food itself at the buffet and some restaurants left us eating the crackers, exclusively. The steakhouse on the resort is phenomenal, but cannot serve an entire resort each night. The area surrounding the resort was so expensive that it put a damper on stepping outside and interacting with locals, because even a Nerf football was close to $50. We had a great time for the weekend, but would never return to this area or recommend Riu over another hotel.

Riu Bambu

Most of the staff was friendly, but not all. Food staff talked loudly to each other near our table.

Total disappointment

No body carry you to show you the room, you are lead pathway and shown a map to follow direction. Shower water did not remove while showering. Had to ask for water refill in room. They should advertise for spanish only, nightly entertainment was all spani sh. There's no security or lifeguard present that have seen. It say all inclusive but should be better known as self serve. No one come while your by the pool to ask in you need something to drink neither by there nightly entertainment. Some of there restaurant no one come by to see if you need anything service very atrocious. Should have one and half star not 4 over rated riu bambu . The beach very dirty. They need a lesson from Mexico see how they keep there beach. Would never recommend anyone. The manager needs a course In business management

Not again

First time in the Dominican and we were not impressed with the resort. Considering we get to our room drop off our luggage go to dinner have a few cocktails and hit the hay for the night. I wake up to finding dried blood on the sheets! It was very clear that it did not come from either of us. Went to rhe reception desk, told them what we encountered and they basically took as no big deal and will have clean sheets put on our bed! Which should of been done before we arrived. That moment on set the mood for rhe rest of our stay.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The spa, your escape-haven, with treatments that chase your worry right out to sea.

The coolio liquor dispensers in your room. You'll never go thirsty.

Their mantra that rings true, "Service with Heart."

RiuLand - the kids' club with a pool and a playground so you can take a much-needed breather.

The way the resort is bungalow-style and oh-so beachy. Big points for exterior style.

The soothing sauna at the gym - perfect for chilling after your very productive workout.

What We'd Change

All of the gift shops at the resort are a bit expensive. So pack extra batteries for the camera, sunscreen and other essentials to save your pennies for the spa.

Why You Should Go

You can share all the cool stuff with the sister resorts except for the restaurants.

Don't miss boating to Isla Saona Island - the water, the sand, the everything is unforgettable.

There are world-class golf courses you can swing by any time you're craving the green.

Epic excursions aren't too far away - Marinarium Marine Park and Altos de Chavon.

There are two floodlit tennis courts, but if you aren't up for that, then there's table tennis.

Check out Caribbean Street - there's a variety of shops and you can get your dance on at Pacha.

Ride the pedaloes aka paddle boats, or ride a horse at Caribbean Cachondeo. Hop on.

Water park with slides, tobogans, kids pool, sun terrace and snack bar.
