Beware of shady practices by ocean blue.

Overall is ok. However on the weekend resort is flooded by locals. They probably sell them empty rooms for cheap, so resort is overcrowded because locals stay 5-6 people in the room. The worst thing was incident with my husband and bartender. Everything is free and included, so my husband gabbed a beer from the bar. Later bartender said the beer is $4. There was no sign that beer was not free. Bar was completely included. Since my husband was wearing only bathing suit he promised to bring money later. Bartender brought the security, demanding the money, big mess. We talked to manager of the resort, she promised that they would apologize, beer should be free, but they never did, more than that we had to give them money, and they did not give money back, even though promised to do so. Very shady. Bartender name was Reynaldo, and his manager was William. Reynaldo said that manager ordered him to sell the beer, William said that he ordered to sell the beer but only for $3, not $4. very very bad.

Appalling Guest Services

Upon arrival at the Ocean Blue and Sand in Punta Cana on October 14th 2019, we were told that our room had been upgraded to a Privilege Suite and were asked to sign a waiver to say that we accepted the change – I now know why. We were allocated a nice room on the ground floor in Building 6, the room (6109) was nice spacious but felt and smelt quite damp we put this down to it just being cleaned and the AC being at a very low temperature. The bathroom was ok but the Shower glass could have done with a clean and also the glass panel was moving. We were only staying at the Resort for 5 days so we just let it be. At 2.30am I needed to use the bathroom, so as not to disturb my Husband and 2 Sons I didn’t switch the light on. Imagine my horror when I sat in a bowl of backed up toilet water. Again not wanting to disturb my family I showered went back to bed to deal with it at a reasonable hour. At 6.30am my son got up to use the bathroom and to our Disgust the toilet had overflowed all over the bathroom floor and out to the hallway (picture attached). I immediately called the Reception, explained the situation and asked them to send somebody over immediately. My son and I had to walk out to the pool area to use the public restrooms. Half an hour later one man appears with a plunger, he sees the situation and walks off shaking his head. One hour later I am still waiting for somebody to arrive. After another phone call housekeeping arrives and cleans up the mess, leaving us with soaking wet towels and unable to wash or shower. By 2.30pm our room had still not been cleaned so we took the trolley down to guest services. After about 5 minutes of speaking with Carlos in Guest Services we realized they just do not care. We were told that we have a privilege room that we did not pay for and the problem had been fixed and they would do no more. In fact Carlos’s supervisor who was sitting next to him did not speak up but instead went to another office to telephone him and told him to tell us they would/could not help us. As a good will gesture Carlos said he would have somebody decorate the room (with what and Why We asked). They also offered us a “Special Dinner” on our last night. After settling for a good room clean and the Special dinner we finally left knowing that we had just wasted 1 more hour on top of that morning of our vacation time. Our room was not given a “Special Clean” and when we turned up for the so called “Special Dinner” it was to a Restaurant that was closed. We live and work in Florida in the Hospitality Industry and I would in no way shape or form treat any of our guests in this manner. I am absolutely shocked and appalled at the Level of Customer Service and disregard that this Resort showed. As mentioned earlier when checking in the room was quite damp. We had to contend with getting into beds that felt damp and even clothes hanging in the closet felt damp. The second picture shows a book that I had been reading, on our last night I had taken it out of my bag and left it on the table. This is how the book looked by the next morning, I hate to think what my family and I have been breathing in all week. We had a good time because of the friends we were with and we refused to let the shoddiness of the Resort Staff ruin our long awaited time with friends. THE RESORT ITSELF IS NICE, THE BEACH IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD. WHAT A SHAME THE PEOPLE THAT RUN THE RESORT ARE SO USELESS.

Staffs were really friendly. They work very hard to make sure all travelers feel comfortable and fun. Most impressive to me was their entertainment team. The resort was very clean, beautiful. Family-friendly. I love their customer service I love the shuttle service that was offered by Caribean too. Thank you.

Great Vacation

I started at Ocean Blue with my family for a week. We liked almost everything: entertainment was good, great food variety ( although few times salad was not fresh), friendly service and staff. The only part of our stay that I did like was check out process. For some reason front desk had only one line for both: check in and check out . Since check in process takes longer, we had to wait about 30 minutes to simply return our keys, which made us almost late for out plane.

Great Vacation

Hotel Description

Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, Punta Cana: Get Ready to Double Down

If life feels like one long day after another, give yourself permission to check out the magnificent Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort. The Ocean Blue and Ocean Sand share facilities, which means twice the activities of an average resort by offering dining and amenities for every one of their guests with access to both resorts. Each resort houses half of the combined 708 five-star suites and junior suites. VIP concierge service is offered for Privilege Jr. Suites.

Located along the lush Dominican Republic's Punta Cana, this all-inclusive dreamboat offers water activities, such as snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, plus unique ways to see the sights, including a cool beachfront climbing wall. Float under swaying palm trees in the quiet pool or order a margarita and join the party at the other pool's swim-up bar. When you've had enough water fun, channel your inner Robin Hood at the archery range, shoot pool like Minnesota Fats, or peddle like Lance Armstrong on a bike.

If you're feeling in need of pampering, relax at Ocean Spa, then grab an Irish Coffee at Mike's, the coffeehouse at Ocean Blue & Sand. Fully caffeinated and ready to go, cash in at the Ocean Tower Casino, or strike out with the family at the bowling alley. If bowling balls aren't your cup of tea, splurge a little and grab a tee-time at nearby White Sands Golf Course, an 18-hole course designed by Spanish golf great, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo.

Guests can have their taste buds tickled with a smattering of delicious dining options from El Bodegon's Spanish tapas, to Route 66's 1950s diner, to La Casa de Mi Abuela's traditional Dominican fare. Dine where you like, when you like, with no reservations needed. And for those who really rock around the clock, you can play the night away at the resort's Wave Disco Bar. So if you just can't stop... you don't have to at Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, where it's all inclusive, all of the time.
