Dirty Resort!

Once we got our bags and keys we headed to the room. Upon arriving we found lipstick stains on the comforter and the top sheets on both of our beds. We called down and house keeping came up and cleaned them both (or so we thought). Turns out one bed still had stains on it, we discovered on the last day. So one of us was sleeping in dirty sheets the whole trip, the stains were deliberately hidden under a folded portion. Also we only had 2 towels and no wash clothes, when on our reservation we stated 3 adults. We had to request an extra towel 3 out of the 4 nights we were there. Lastly housekeeping would remove the dirty towels in the morning but not replace them until late afternoon. I had to request new towels as I didn't have one when I finished up at the gym in the morning. Facilities: The pools were disgusting! People were smoking in the pool and leaving cigarette buds in it, we saw a child literally standing over the pool peeing, and staff didn’t do a thing to stop it. For the 5 days we were there, we only saw staff clean it once. The night club was awful as well. People were smoking and it smelled like a fraternity house, it obviously isn’t cleaned each night. The only good thing was the beach, even though there were a few broken lounge chairs. Food/drinks: The food was awful! The buffet food was barely edible and birds were literally eating off the buffet. I highly recommend making reservations at the restaurants if you want half-decent food. However, we ate at the Japanese restaurant our last night, as I was eating, three baby cockroaches came crawling onto the counter. This happened three times until my group decided to leave. I've never had this happen at a resort, it was unacceptable. Lastly the drinks were weak and tasted awful. They most definitely were watered down. Service: The only good service we received was at the specialty restaurants. Staff seemed to be generally annoyed that they were talking to us in English, or even bored. The bartenders were often rude or ignored you for others. We even caught one of them making fun of us in Spanish. This was something I really struggled with, as we were drinking all day. They would only notice you if you were waving a $1 bill around. Customer service is obviously not instilled. Completely unacceptable. Overall I will not be recommending this resort to anyone and have no plans to return back to the DR. It was one of the worst experiences I had and Cheap Caribbean should consider no longer advertising this resort. As an American I did not feel welcomed at all. The drinks were awful and the cleanliness of resort was unacceptable. This was my third time booking through Cheap Caribbean and potentially my last. I will repeat myself, DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT!!!

Occidental Caribe

This is the second time we have stayed at this resort and the service level has declined. The beach and pools are very nice. The room was comfortable. The service received after checkin was not the best. Each day we had call and request towels. This process started around two pm and after several calls were finally received by ;7/8 pm. The entire resort lost all water on Friday evening, which wouldn’t have been so bad if we didn’t just come in from the beach and in the middle of a shower when it happened with soap everywhere. We tried to call to see what was going on but after 5 or 6 times of being hung up on were finally told it was a “general” issue and to just wait. It took over and hour.... the staff in the Buffett were not the friendliest and it always took 4/5 requests to get even the water glasses filled or refilled. On our day of departure our Amstar representative was nowhere to be found and our driver over an hour late. One gentleman helped our group more with that than anyone else did since we checked in. Guest services is a joke.
