Nice Resort Needs to be managed better

Food similar everyday.(Not very good) Water sports crew trying to scam you for paid(various amounts) lessons. Half of equipment doesn't work even if its an easy fix.(bicycle chain) No beach towels at 9:00 Am (wait time 40 minutes for new ones) Restaurant crew not well organized. Some rooms nice but not some lights ,telephone and even AC in some units are not working. Promises of fixing stuff never gets done. I've seen other reviews and the hotels sends a generic reply how they will take care of things but each month same reviews are written. Beautiful landscaping ,nice area, long beach for walks Room cleaning people doing excellent job. A la cart restaurants poor except for La Gondola. Could be a great resort if everybody did what they promise. Hotel should not rely on guest to tell them what is not working in the room it should be checked before thy give you the key.

It was okay

The hotel was okay. Need major renovations in the rooms and lobby furniture. There wasn't much option for buffet food. I stayed for four days and they served the same buffet food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was able to eat one dinner at the seafood restaurant and it was pretty food. Hotel staff were very friendly and provided good service.Very hard working staff. They only had one pool and it was full of people all the time so I stayed at the beach all the time. There was absolutely no nightlife. Felt very boring after dinner. There was nothing to do. Drinks were very sweet and diluted. You can have one thousand drinks and still not feel anything.

Confy stay

Check in was slow and bad. Good amenities, even though i asked for full beds and they gave us two twin beds. Need to update those tv's in rooms, service was average, could have done better on the buffet, poor staff service as well as in lobby bar. Not so many activities for kids, would not recommend it for kids since there is too many people smoking everywhere. Pools need more attention and securtiy for kids. Beach was clean and nice but once again dining area service was poor. Room service was ok, there was a big water leak in my room and it took a while for them to clean up other than that it was fine.

Upgrade Improvement

When my husband & I arrived we wasn't greeted with a fresh tropical drink nor was there anyone available to help us with our bags. The check in process was a Hot Mess because they are still operating off a very old system for checking in their guest. The customer service rep. who checked us into our room was very friendly and she took the time to explain to us everything that was available to us on the resort. However, the first room we were assigned to was not clean at all it was dirty. We had to walk back to the front desk to inform them of the room condition. That's when we encountered the supervisor who was not very friendly at all. Frankly it was like he didn't care. Then he gave us another room which was not any better then the first room except that it was clean. We walked back to the front desk and told the supervisor that we wanted a better room. Thats when he suggested the upgraded room that came with certain amenities. Once we agreed to pay the extra money for the upgraded room he became our friend which if this option was offered when I booked the trip all of this could have been avoided. Also we were promised a fruit gift basket with a bottle of champagne which was one the amenities that we never received. We informed the supervisor and he said he would have it sent to our room. But we never received it. We even called the front desk three times during our stay only to be told that you are only allowed to receive one. We told them that we didn't receive the first fruit basket & champagne. At that point we left it alone. Once you are checked in you have to walk down a lot of stairs in order to get to your room. I literally watch old & young struggle to go up and down these stairs with their luggage because know one was available to assist them. They need to upgrade the front desk area with new technology and they need to train the staff on how to provide excellent customer service. Plus the supervisor went off on the customer service rep. who checked us in right in front of us because he assumed that she didn't do her job because he had to do the revised paperwork for our upgraded room. Little did he know I understood everything he said to her in his native language. As a supervisor he should have pulled her into his office and had a private conversation with her off the floor when it was slow because that was not the proper time to correct a situation. We had to call the front desk for clean face towels repeatedly because the maid service would clean our room but not leave any clean face towels. Training, Training, Training is the key. The pool area was small but there was a lot of activities to do, a swim up bar and plenty of pool chairs. The beach was nice but, the seaweed was a down fall. It wasn't a lot of sea weed but at times it was very visible and if you walked down the beach a little further you would see a lot more sea weed and the smell was loud and awful. There was a lot of lounge chairs on the beach with plenty of shade and the water was very warm. The restaurants La Cana, La Perla & La Gondola was really good for a resort. I especially love the Hostess,Waiters & Waitress that were available to assist you. Plus they did a wonderful job with the presentation of the food & desert area. The La Perla continental breakfast 6am-7am needs some improvement because there was nothing continental about that breakfast. The snack restaurant on the beach was ok but you had to tell them to cook the hamburger meat a little longer to keep from eating half done meat, the chicken nuggets was over cooked and the bread was old. The bars was ok since I ordered a lot of non alcoholic drinks and you can always find one open. The entertainment was family oriented but they need a night club for music & dancing. They have activities for the kids but I noticed some safety issues that caught my eye. Overall, the grounds are beautiful with very friendly animals and some of the staff are friendly and eager to help but the language barrier needs to be broken. When it came time for us to check out the process was very slow and there were long lines. Basically you get what you pay for but if they decide to make some improvements this resort could be a winner.
