"We got back from a 9 night vacation at teh Melia Caribe Tropical and it rates as was one of the best family vacations we've had. The resort is huge and sprawled across many acres but easily accessible..." – fufu

The people are lovely.

The best advice I can give anyone going on an all inclusive vacation is to tip the resort employees. A couple dollars and a nice demeanor goes a long way in ensuring your experience is a good one. I don’t have one bad thing to say about the staff. They were great and made our trip great. I traveled with my daughter whose 17th Birthday we were celebrating and my 7 year old son. When we arrived in our room it was decorated with balloons and flowers as requested and they left a nice card and bottle of Rum. The room itself was just okay. It definitely could have used some updating and a fresh coat of paint. The double showers did not function properly and the jacuzzi tub button broke when we tried to use the tub. The furniture was clearly old and water damaged. The cabana outside the room was in terrible shape and looked like it had mold on it. We never used it. To the credit of the resort they did fix the jacuzzi tub the next day. The overall resort was nice and clean. The restaurant were just okay. There is only one Buffett for the family side but the options change daily. The other restaurants food was okay but nothing amazing, not even the Dominican restaurant. Eat off the resort when you can for some real yummy food. The only other issue was the people selling stuff on the beach are super aggressive so if you don’t like saying no a hundred times you might want to hang out by the pool. Also no one answers the phone in the lobby. So take care of whatever you need while there because you will never get anyone on the phone. I tried calling a few times.

The people are lovely. The people are lovely.

Entertaining & Relaxing

First time to Punta Cana. Had an amazing girl's trip with my friend. We ate, drank, relaxed and then danced until we dropped in the evening. The entertainment staff is wonderful and they are part of daytime events, aerobic classes, dance lessons, shows and dancing in the evening.

Awesome Time

I returned for the 14th time and it was as wonderful now as it was all the other times. Hotel staff couldn't be more accommodating and friendly. Golfing at Cocotal was great. We are a group of women traveling alone and feel safe all the time. Although its advertised as all taxes and tips included we always bring a stack of bills to tip people at meals and at the pool--room service ect. It is so appreciated by the people there and they remember you. Can't wait for my trip back.

Tropical Paradise

The Melia Caribe in Punta Cana was absolutely beautiful and the people were very friendly and helpful. For me it took a bit to get used to the food as it is so different from our American food without all the added sugar and is much healthier. In all areas of the Resort the staff was very accommodating which helped make our visit a very enjoyable experience. We will be doing this again.

What's to Love

Chillaxing on the sugar-white sandy beach, cocktail in hand, watching the azure waves roll in.

The food - travelers reports that everything, especially the steak and lobster tails, is crazy good.

Two ginormous, free-form pools, each with swim-up bars for your day drinking pleasure.

The grounds keeping staff who offer coconuts and cut them open, fresh for you to drink.

What We'd Change

It might be gorgeous, but this place is huge! That's why we love the complimentary shuttles that take guests around the resort.

Why You Should Go

It's just 20 minutes from the airport - you'll be basking in the warm Dominican sun pronto.

There's wave after wave of water sports: sunfish sailing, water bikes, kayaking, canoeing and more.

It's a worldwide taste trek with 33 nosh spots that include French, Japanese, Thai, American classics and more.

Hold on to something because you'll likely swoon when you see this legendary, white-sandy beach. For more cooling off, you can hit one of ten pools, two of which are free-form with swim-up bars and boast 12-person, cool-water spas. (That's a party.) Your little ones even have two pools of their own. Was that applause we just heard?
