Beautiful Resort

Overall feel - Gorgeous resort Meticulously maintained Felt very safe Beach/Pools - So many choices depending on what environment you craved (quiet, boisterous, hammocks, chairs in water, big, small, etc. they were all good) No way to get around the fact that people still save their chairs super early. But there were always still plenty of good choices. Bring a cheap floatie from home and leave it there when you leave. Vendors were respectful and didn’t pester. Just a polite ‘no’ and they moved on. Food - We ate at the buffets for breakfast and lunch and tried every a la carte restaurant for dinner except the Japanese one which required reservations. Buffets - If you can’t find something you like then there is something wrong with you! In general it was hit and miss but you always could find that one item that made your stomach extremely happy. A la cartes- The food as described on the menu wasn’t always what you got. Example - “bacon” ended up being cut up ham pieces. Grouper with rosemary ended up being grouper with tomato sauce. Cheesecake was regular plain cake. Desserts were quite lovely - I was worried that their version of chocolate wouldn’t be true chocolate but it was. Lots of chocolate desserts with light whipped cream. This chocoholic was satisfied! Tiramisu was excellent. The food at the Argentinian restaurant was nasty. The appetizers were ok but not the main dishes. The next day we talked with a lady who said they walked out of the restaurant because stuffed underneath the bread in their bread basket was someone’s garbage wrapped up in a napkin. The server probably grabbed the basket from a table who had finished and passed it on to the next group. You are not given a knife to cut your steak with at the American steak restaurant. Butter knife was it. Luckily it was enough - probably because they smashed the rib eye to death to tenderize it. Good thing it tasted awesome. Mashed potatoes that came with it were cold, though. The tapas restaurant was just ok. The Italian restaurant was wonderful. The chicken parmigiana was cooked to death but still delicious. The Chinese restaurant was tasty. Everyone liked what they ordered. We saved the Indian restaurant for last thinking we wouldn’t like it as none of us were very familiar with Indian food. Turned out it was by far the best one!! We tried so many dishes and they were all flavor packed and scrumptious. By far the best service there too! Luis was our server and was so attentive and sweet. He truly cared. Made a point to fill out a survey while there so we could highlight his service. The manager happened to ask us how our meal was so we had a chance to gush on Luis to his boss. The manager pulled Luis over and made a point to say how our comments will make a big difference for Luis and how other couples at the restaurant also highlighted Luis as exceptional. Luis was so smiley and happy to receive the feedback. I hope he gets a huge raise. Airport transfer - We had a private transfer scheduled. They were easy to find and were on the ball. For the trip back - our guy was on time. We had a glitch in that he took us to the wrong terminal even though we clarified a couple times what airline we were on. He unpacked our stuff and just would not believe us when we said Sun Country was not at that terminal. The guys who came to try to help us with our luggage got involved. You fly Delta? No, Sun Country at the other terminal! You fly Frontier? No, Sun Country at the other terminal! You fly Air Canada? No, Sun Country at the other terminal! They then argued with our driver on our behalf to convince him that our airline was at the other terminal. He finally accepted the fact he was wrong and repacked our stuff and brought us to the correct terminal. Language is a barrier. Room - We got one of the Junior rooftop suites. Villa 19. Loved the location. Room was clean and spacious. Our mini fridge was not working and after a quick phone call they had someone at our room within 15 minutes with a new fridge. We only used the rooftop jacuzzi once. We all agreed that the second level might not be worth the extra cost. It was lovely but we just didn’t spend enough time up there. The person who slept on the sofa bed said it was comfortable enough. None of the beds were super comfy but they were decent. There aren’t enough plugins so bring a zip strip. Would we go again? Yep!

Disappointed

This is a very large resort that a tram is needed to get anywhere and you are not garenteed a tram at your service. Many times you will wait for a ride. The place is very dated. The outdoor shower next to the beach was broken. The ledge at the pool bar was broken. My fridge was actually warm instead of cold. There is no other beer served except tap Presidente anywhere! The shows were blah. And I can not stress how TERRIBLE the food was! Because of a no reservation policy be prepared to wait for over an hour for horrible food. Basically all the desserts and salad bars at the restaurants are exactly the same food that you can get at the buffets. And all the buffets serve the same food. Basically I ate peanut butter and banana sandwiches all week. Also no coffee or breakfast near by. So you wake up and want a quick cup of coffee well be prepared to wait here walk a mile or wait for a ride. The beach was ok. Not the crystal clear water is was anticipating. Would not go back. I've included a picture of a cannoli from the Italian restaurant for your pleasure, as my family got a good laugh.

The resort was beautiful and extremely well maintained. The food was less than our expectations from previous Palladium Hotels, as it was only adequate in taste. The restaurant service was quite slow. We signed up to go parasailing. Unfortunately, due to wind conditions, we could not safely do it. They refunded our money without issue, when we could not do it prior to leaving. We felt a lot of pressure from the Travel Club representatives to hear their sales pitch. It got to the point of being annoying. We would go back again.

What's to Love

All-inclusive beachy hot spot on the jaw-dropping Bavaro Beach. Totally worth it.

Spectacular service that spoils you from the moment your flip-flops hit the deck. And, reservations not needed at the restaurants.

Five pools throughout the complex where you can sip and sun and savor this vacay haven.

Cocktail service on the beach and at the pool. Let the drinks come to you, while you sip under the Palapa.

Detoxing at the gym, then being pampered at Zentropia Spa - nothing beats sinking into a Turkish Bath.

Activities galore for you and the fam, including a Kid's Club and a club for the teens.

What We'd Change

This is a huge resort, but it has to be if you want all the great features.

Why You Should Go

A short zippy ride from the airport to the resort where a Welcome Cocktail awaits you and the party starts.

You've got privileges at the two other resorts in the Palladium Punta Cana complex. Mega bonus.

A palatial sized resort that caters to all your dining whims. Some are spread out, giving you time to explore.

Themed parties throughout the week - like the Foam party on Thursday. Crazy fun.

Buy your tourist card before you leave - saves a step at the airport so you can get beachy faster.
