Grand Bahia Precipe Turquesa ...huh?

Where Do I begin. Dominican Republic is A beautiful place but the service is not great. The room was not great.. shabby, the iron did not work. I called and was told they was sending someone up ... never did. I was there for 3 days the sheets were not changed , the bed was just made. The workers serve ppl they believe are going to going to give tips. The ppl that visit DR are from all over the world. No one really speaks English. There was a language barrier. When going on excursions, it was a zoo. It was VERY unorganized and no one was on time. Granted we were on vacation but time is money. Went to one restaurant Los Coralos and was served raw chicken. I have pictures for proof. Disgusting! The 1 restaurant Daily’s, was all it was and if you wanted food after 10 you had to go to the beach restaurant where service was bad there. O yeah, they have stray cats around, which is disgusting! You had to take a trolley 10 mins away. You were lucky to get a reservations at other restaurants. It was based on how many days you were at the resort. The only vehicles allowed in the resort were excursion shuttles and trolleys. I felt like I had to play frogged to get by... The ppl to include employees and shuttle drivers WERE N O T COURTEOUS of vacationers. I will definitely come to DR again but will I stay at Turquesa... of course not! Turquesa needs an upgrade!

Good property but food lacking

The facilities were good, but they claim that you can make reservations at their sit-down restaurants. However, we were only allowed to book 1 meal because we were staying only 4 days. If we were staying a full week, they would have allowed 3. However we tried to book immediately upon arrival and were told that the only reservation that was available was one for a restaurant we didn't want to go to and it was for 8:45pm. We figured that we would give it a try. It was for a hibachi restaurant. We did and were disappointed to see that the beef, fish, and chicken were set out in the open in Tupperware containers without ice. Having sensitive stomachs, we decided to stick with the veggies and rice. The food was the main complaint. If you have any dietary restrictions, this probably isn't the place for you. If your not a fan of the bland buffet that sits out for hours with flies flying around, this probably isn't the way to go. The only other complaint was that name brand liquors were not stocked anywhere but the lobby bar. The rest had "well" brands that were the kind that promotes hangovers. The one thing I will say is that the grounds were well kept (a bit dated) and the staff were all friendly and willing to help make the stay an enjoyable one. So if you have no problem with food, I'd say you'd be fine. Otherwise I would suggest a facility with sit down restaurants and forego the buffets.

We felt this was a great vacation. First of all we really like Punta Cana. The resort, Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa was very nice. The rooms were large and clean. The food was very good with a large variety to pick from. The beach was a little far and crowded so we spent most of the time at the pool. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. We especially were appreciative of the rep from cheap Caribbean. He made sure our vacation was enjoyable and helped us book our excursions.

Bahia Principe Turquessa

The room was very poorly cleaned and we had to ask every night for wash clothes and a blanket.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive, family-friendly beach blast. No unhappy beachers here.

Dropping the youngsters at the kids' spa while you indulge in a much-needed hot stone massage.

Being handed a welcome cocktail when you arrive - throw it back and have another.

Hittin' the waves via kayak, catamaran or paddle surfing. Beach time is the best time.

What We'd Change

The grounds hosting the multiple Grand Bahia resorts can be noisy, but Turquesa is the smallest of them and offers some relative quiet.

Why You Should Go

It's 25 minutes from the airport - a brisk trip to your tropical nirvana.

You have access to everything (except buffets) at Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana and Bavaro. Turquesa is the calmest during the day.

There's an ahh-some children's water park. Your squirts will be tickled pink.

The Family Master Suite has two interconnected rooms. Relax, you can trust the kiddos.
