Grand Bahia

We had a wonderful time!! The place was clean and the staff was very friendly, if I had one negative it would be that they did not have coffee in our room everyday. We will go back again!

An amazing get away worth every penny

If you’re looking to kick back, relax, and be treated like a King/Queen in a beautiful environment then look no further. Grand Bahia transports you into a reality of its own with entertainment as endless as it’s food. As long as you figure out your map and the resorts transportation system early, it’s almost impossible not to have a great time.

Nice Multi Hotel Resort

We’re staying at the Bahia Bavaro one or 7 or so hotels in Bahia Principe The resort is VERY clean both the rooms the walkways the common areas beautiful grounds . The rooms are nice with comfortable beds . Resort is massive but they do a good job running trams to and from the beach and lobby area as well as the restaurants every 5 to 10 minutes . The food was very good however they limit you to only 3 nights to the alacarte restaurants and that’s provided you stay an entire week if u stay less they want to limit you to less . The buffets are very good but lot of the same foods. Also when making reservations lot have already been booked so book your entire stay as soon as you get there. Beach is spectacular. Pools are very nice. Both get very crowded so have to put out towels early am Not a lot of bars or entertainment options and most shows and the one club they had didn’t open or start til 10;30 or 1130 respectively. Late Friendly polite very nice hotel staff. Good value and place if you don’t mind the crowds all the walking and limited dining options and entertainment.

Buyer Beware

This was my wife and my second trip to Grand Bahia in the Dominican Republic. This compound includes 7 separate resorts. Our first trip was spent at the Luxury Bahia Esmeralda and was a great vacation. The Grand Bahia Bavaro was the total opposite! Unknown to us was the fact that if you stayed at one of the lower end resorts (Bavaro, Turquesa or Punta Cana) you were not even allowed to walk through the other four let alone eat or drink there. Unbelievable. We could try the bars in all 3 lower tier resorts but could eat in ONLY the Bavaro buffet or Ala Carte restaurants. Breakfast was good, lunch was ok and dinner was horrible! I am not a picky eater but when my plate holds only pasta or white rice I know the food is an epic failure. The Maiko teppenyaki was the best food we had but to call it real teppenyaki is a stretch. The only thing that made it teppenyaki was the food was Japanese and cooked in front of you. No onion volcano, no egg flipping, no beating heart made of rice ... very sad! The rooms were tired and in need of updating. The a/c and fridge barely did the job. The toilet flusher broke 4 times in 7 days (I repaired it versus trying to get maintenance to do it). And do not try to read in your room at night because the four 25 watt bulbs do not provide enough light. Worst of all were the couch cushions and throw pillows. They had the odor of a sweaty armpit and were probably never cleaned since installed 20 years ago. Extremely disgusting. The saving grace was the beach and pools. Soft sand, clean pools but reserve your chair early or fry in the sun like an egg. And bring your own mugs for drinks as the bars run out of clean glasses two or three times a day! Also get your clean pool towels early because those become scarce quickly. The staff was very good except the lobby bartenders who acted like they couldn't be bothered to get you a drink! And don't ask for premium liquor because there isn't any! In closing let me say I would pay a few dollars more to return to the Esmeralda or Ambar resorts but as far as the lower tier ones, never again!
