Disappointed

This entire resort was a huge disappointment. The beach was completely covered in seaweed for the duration of our visit, despite workers shoveling it by the truckload to some other location. The staff were not friendly or attentive. Of the restaurants on the resort, all but 1 were booked for the duration of our 1 week stay, forcing us to eat from the substandard buffet if we chose to dine on the resort. Drinks were stiff and tasted like kerosene. Overall maintenance of the resort was lacking with multiple room issues arising during our stay, including broken locks, showers, and insect infestations. Check-in was a fiasco as our room was not ready by check-in time and it took nearly an hour to place us in a different room. The one thing that was nice about the resort was the maid service. They were quick, attentive, and worked diligently to make sure our room was up to the resort standard every day.

Beautiful resort.. BUT!!!

Beautiful resort . Beautiful beaches. BUT We stayed for 6 days. Service was horrible, eating dinner and you ask for a coke, or any drink for that matter and you never get it. Evening asking several servers and still never get your drink. Food was mainly Buffet . The "restaurants" were still Buffet style, BBQ was horrible , Italian was horrible. Even in the reservation restaurants service was horrible. Only food that was good was the shushi night and the Japanese one. Room: Room was beautiful nice bathroom and clean. The bed how ever was about as soft as hardwood floors. We go on vacation to catch up on sleep and relax and we ended up being more tired than when we got there. Drinks at the bar: The drinks here were horrible. Only thing worth to drink was the beer. They use slushy machines to make there "margaritas" which were never frozen and way WAY to strong. the majority of workers were rude. But some were great. We had a blast only because the pool and beach were great and we did the bavaro splash. But everything else was horrible. Overall I don't think I would go back to this resort ever..or recommended this resort to anyone. I wouldn't want someone else to spend a decent amount of money and be as disappointed as we were.

Where to begin. My fiancé and I were nervous based on some of the reviews. Maybe we were lucky based on the reviews and others we spoke to while we were there. Our trip was nearly flawless. Arrived at the hotel and was definitely treated to our frozen cocktail within minutes. Checking in took a bit but there was a line as a few others were checking in. Food - the buffets were good and adequate. There was a wide variety of foods but remember different cultures are catered too as well. Breakfast was fantastic. We were there for seven days so we were entitled to three reservations at the speacialty restaurants. Our favorite was BBQ, Mexican and hibatchi. We were able to "sneak" in and go to two different ones so where there is a will...... However they book fast so as soon as you check in book your nights! Size - the complex is huge as indicated. The average person can walk end to end in about 20 minutes (walk off all the food). They do have trams/shuttles that run easily every five minutes or so. Getting around is easy. Rooms - nothing wrong with our room at all. Clean and always kept clean. As far as temp we left one key card always in the ac/fan controller and room stayed at temp. We were definitely not there a lot though. Things to do - I think plenty. Pools were awesome. There are some for those that like quiet and the one by the beach with more activities. At the theater there were two shows a day. I actually like the Michael Jackson, 70/80's, Broadway, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Live music or dj at the patio area and live music around 1030 in the village. There were beach activities and the hotel offers some free water activities but you need to sign up the day of and you better get there early 815/830 as a line forms fast. Excursions are easy but they are all salesman and better than other company...... Shopping - there are shops there which vary in prices. In the village (town square) don't get reeled in. You can bargain and start low (1/3 of what price they say) and stand your ground. They can be very aggressive and pushy. The beach - not the clear water (our bad as we did not research this). It is on the east coast and was very warm. There is a lot of seaweed and on the beach they constantly are raking it up. It's in the water but if you swim out should be good. Get your beach towels early and don't turn them in unless they have replacements. Alcohol - is a plenty! We aren't big drinkers but enjoyed all of our drinks. Mama Juanna is the huge local shot. Again maybe we got lucky but we had a great time and I cannot say enough about the staff, cleanliness, hospitality and overall experience.

Phenomenal Experience!

Couldn't have asked for a better trip to Punta Cana. Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro is absolutely phenomenal in every aspect! The complex is incredible, unlike any other resort I've ever been to, with exchanges to the other resorts within the property. There are shuttles constantly operating in case you don't feel like walking. The entire grounds are spotless, and the people couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. The multiple pools and bars are top shelf, and the food is absolutely incredible. Have recommended to all my friends and family and will be making this my go-to resort destination!
