Punta Cana Dream

So I want to start off by saying my over all experience was fine. Yes I said fine, not great, not awesome but fine. The booking process was easy and went well, when I arrived at dream I was early for check-in which was fine I went and got some food. I then rechecked at the time to see if my room was ready. It was I was told to walk down stairs and someone would take me to my room. No one showed up, so I started walking around to find my room, a staff member saw me and took me to my room. Upon getting into my room I booked a swim up room, what I got would in no way count as a swim up room. I paid extra for this feature that I did not receive, I went to the front desk because when I called I could never get through. They told me that was what they called a swim up room, which was a 20 feet walk through grass to get to the pool. On my last night have let vendors come into the resort and they harass you as you are walking around. So got so tired off it I went again to the front desk to talk to someone. They ultimately told me they would talk to their company and make a report. The point to that is I expect to by harassed if I leave the resort, not inside it.

Cheap

Room not ready at check yet others arrive after you are waiting for 2 hours and check in and receive room. Then given a room with incorrect beds. 6 hours after arriving receive room as ordered then shower doesn’t drain approximately. Pool staff do not maintain pool rules. Towels are left on chairs for hours reserving pool chairs and pool floats are kept under guest chairs. Rules are pool floats are not to be removed from pool and unattended chairs of 1 hour belongings will be removed. This adds up to ALL the pool chairs are gone ALL day. There are not enough pool chairs for guests. Pool is open to 6 but out of towels by 4. Guests get towels to leave on chairs the next morning to “reserve” a chair for the day. You need to get a towel the night before because the towel stand opens at 8. There are not enough beach chairs on the beach either. Vendors come in at night and set up tables. They are extremely pushy to the point of annoying. The worker in the lobby trying to get visitors to go look at a new hotel follows you. It should not have to be a game to sit at the pool and you should not have to be chased to buy things after saying no.

Dreams February review

We went for 5 nights in February and while there were things we loved, there were also things that just didn't live up to my expectations. With that said, we had a great trip and none of the cons ruined it but thought my review might be helpful to other families traveling to a beach destination with young kids. We have two children (5 and 3) and booked a family suite which is essentially 2 rooms connected by a door. This was one of the main reasons I booked this resort. To have a way to talk after bedtime is amazing! We traveled with another couple who also booked the same room and had two children similar ages. Room We were located in building 5 on the third floor facing the pool. The room was clean which is a major plus! The main room portion was fine but like others has said was a bit dated. The bathrooms were HORRIBLE. We had two bathrooms and they were the same on both sides. Some people may say "What does the bathroom matter when you spend most your time outside?" And normally I would agree however, when you are trying to bath two children it matters. There were two lights and they were over the sink making the tub area super dark- it was hard to bath the kids it was so dark. The set up in the tub was odd too. No curtain but 1/3 of the tub was blocked by glass. The water pressure was very light so it made showers cold too. The tub condition was gross. Several layers of caulk and a stained tub. Also on the topic of room, the nightly entertainment takes place RIGHT outside building 5 in the plaza. The DJ goes until 11 on most nights and it was so loud. I could hear every word crystal clear. Even with ear plugs and a noise maker. Management offered to move us which was nice but at that point we only had 2 nights left and to move all our belongings would have been very inconvenient. Pools/Beach/Grounds The pools and grounds on location were absolutely gorgeous. The staff members do a great job of maintaining the property and it is beautiful. Always people taking your drink orders around the pool and the entertainment staff is very friendly and attentive to children. The beach was also beautiful but very windy and the water was rough since it was the Atlantic side of the Island. Keep that in mind. We spent time on the beach but not for longer than an hour or two at a time because the wind was a little much for the kids. The biggest disappointment in these areas was the chair situation. We were up by 7:30 to get chairs (a full half hour before the towel huts opened up) and could only find 3 chairs by the massage table that were not already taken. People get up at 5:30 to reserve sports and sometimes don't come to their chairs until afternoon time. We all pay the same amount and to not have a place to sit, is ridiculous! The resort needs to add more seating around the pool! Staff Amazing! Never had a bad experience with someone working there. We used the kids club twice but after the second time they wanted to stay with us. I think the pirate ship pool was a little cold for them! Food/Bar Food was mediocre. To be honest the buffet was probably the best option mainly because you could go back 15 times until you found something you liked. The pizza place was a cute option for the kids and Oceana was pretty good too! The drinks were just ok. I know I may be picky in this area as I tended bar for years and don't like a ton of sugary drinks. The alcohol grade was very low. Smirnoff was the highest brand vodka and I only saw it twice. I didn't recognize any of the rums or tequilas either. By the end of the trip we were ordering bottles of wine to drink something we actually liked. Spa We had two treatments and both were good. They had a small water circuit before too if you wanted to enjoy that. With all this being said.... I don't think we would come back to this resort until the rooms went thru renovation.

Great value for a great stay!

The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Bring your own straws if you want them, because they do not supply them at the resort. My husband and I went for a romantic vacation, and I think we got one! We booked the Preferred Club and it was well worth the upgrade.

What's to Love

The refreshing champagne and chilly towels that welcome you into beach bliss.

As of June 2018 you can bring your furry friend along!

The massive, aahh-mazing pool that stretches from the lobby to the beach.

The 1,643-square foot on-site casino. Lady luck is waiting.

The Deluxe Swim-Out room. You'll feel like royalty, or a rock star. (Or a royal rock star.)

The flamingos, peacocks, parrots, turtles and more - it's like a tropical zoo.

Explorer's club (kids 3-12) with everything from sand castle contests to Plant a Tree & Corn Harvest Project.

Red Cross certified staff supervise the aforementioned club. A relief, right?

Parents get a pager from the Explorer's club, should they be needed for anything.

Chilling in the spa's Zen garden after the Tropical Oasis Body Wrap.

The FREE windsurfing and sailing lessons. (Gotta love free.)

Seaside dining with only the stars and candles to light your night. (There's a fee, but go for it).

What We'd Change

You'll want to keep an eye on the schedule for the restaurants, but there are so many options your taste buds will rejoice in their around-the-world tour.

Why You Should Go

It's 40-minute drive from the airport, but you can relax - you're already in earth-heaven.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get a private lounge & beach, and much more.

Browse the Dominican market with fine handicrafts, hand-made jewelry and more.

For some "you time," there's yoga/stretching and aerobics.

Our world-class golf courses are near. The concierge can hook you up.

Saddle up and go horseback riding. It costs, but it's magical.

Get starry-eyed with the Stargazing Rock 'n Roll party and movies under the stars on the beach.

Tennis (and clinics) are here - nothing like hitting the court under the palms.

Head to the baseball cage for some family throwing and bonding time.

Play Mexican Bingo and after you win, hit the water cycles.

The ocean trampoline is a fav among the kiddos.
