Bad communication, but still worth it

When we arrived we were created at the hotel by complete chaos. There was luggage pulled up all over the entrance. With no explanation our bag was taken and thrown into the pile of luggage and then we were told to go get a drink from the bar. We waited around in the bar for a half hour. Then we were told to go get lunch while our room was prepared for us. There were people and bags everywhere in the lobby. No one seemed to know what was going on. Finally 45 minutes after we were told our room would be ready a very nice but stressed staff member took us to our room. We received no explanation of the resort or given information during the check-in. Later that night when trying to go to dinner we discovered we needed reservations to eat at most of the restaurants and it was too late that night to get any reservations at any restaurant. We were told we should have made all of our reservations during our check-in when we arrived. Due to the awful check-in process we lost our first day at the resort due to a lack of understanding how things worked. Once we learned what we needed to do the time at the resort was much better. From observations while we were there when there was a rush of new arrivals the lobby of the resort would go into chaos. The entrance of the resort always always had luggage for arriving or departing guests pilled up. Overall the trip was good and enjoyable. The check-in process was disorganized and can ruin the first part of your trip if you are not very experienced with staying at resorts. The appearance of the entrance is ruined with the luggage stacked but once you get beyond that the stay is great. Lastly the beach looks nothing like the photos, it's covered with brown seaweed that gets piled up on the beach and rots and smells like sewer. Stay away from the beach and that won't be a problem.

just go some place else.

The check in was terrible ,took too long to get the rooms, the buildings in general are in need of mayor repairs and improvements all over, they are doors with out locks and doorknobs, bathrooms with out hangers ,the safe box was so rusty that you don't even want to get close to it. The only good about this place was the entertainment staff,.

Great Vacation

Despite some concerning reviews we read prior to our trip, we had a wonderful time! Gracious and accommodating staff. Great entertainment team. Very nice VIP pools . Good beach that staff kept clean from seaweed. Great time with daily sand volleyball games. Enjoyed the specialty dining options, especially the Brazilian Steak House, Japanese teppanyaki, and Mexican restaurant (and we're from Texas and picky about our Mexican food, must try the pork street tacos!) Would not hesitate to recommend this resort to others. Fantastic price for all you get! Thank you Cheap Caribbean and Be Live for a fantastic vacation!

You get what you pay for

In retrospect we will save up more before attempting another resort at this price point. The good: the pools and grounds are beautiful and very well kept, the room was spacious and clean, drinks were good and they definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol. The bad: staff are hit or miss, some are very helpful and others not so much, the food was terrible, we enjoyed a few things at breakfast but that's about it. The really bad: it isn't really all inclusive. there are certain liquors you can't order and some of the restaurants only offer half of their menu as "inclusive" and the rest is extra. You have to make a reservation for every restaurant except the buffet for dinner. You have to do this before 2 pm each day (you can make them for the rest of the week) and then come back each day at 4 pm to get your reservation ticket. You are constantly harassed both on the beach and throughout the resort about booking excursions, buying souvenirs, or using the spa. When we spoke to one of the salesmen at the resort we were discussing the price of one of the excursions when he said "the price doesn't matter because you are rich." It bothered me so much I didn't trust leaving the resort with him or anyone else. Two bad things about our room: the shower and the distance. There was a large gap at the bottom of the shower and water poured out of the bottom every time we used it. We spoke to several people who changed rooms 3-4 times because the air didn't work, ants, etc. Our room was one of the furthest away and it was a bit of a walk everywhere. There is sooo much seaweed it literally turns the water a tea color. I hate it for the resort because they can't do much about it. The staff referred to the other side of the island as "the Caribbean side." The sand is as soft as powder! The water is...sometimes blue. Also it was way cheaper and faster to get a taxi to and from the airport than to book a shuttle service with the website. Bottom line: we had a great time just relaxing by the beach, but this place is like the Kroger of all inclusive resorts.
