Really great resort in Punta Cana. Room was very big, spacious and clean. Food and drinks were good. Staff was really nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this resort and re-book, it is really big with multiple pools, bars and entertainment areas.
When we arrive we were told we were VIPs and assigned a butler named Felix. Felix gave us the quickest tour ever and bolted as soon as he got his $20 tip. I had to run back to the main desk as we couldn’t get on the Internet. The next morning we didn’t have enough water for coffee and I had to run back to the desk myself again. Later that day our second room (we were traveling with my sister) had a toilet overflow. They sent a janitor up to unclog the toilet which was not clogged. It was a serious issue it overflowed all over and smells terribly.
Our butler also messed up our dinner reservation for every night We were there. Luckily I took it upon myself to go to the guest services and have it corrected to our actual choices
Food was subpar at best breakfast buffet was the same thing they after day 4 I skipped bfast it was so tiring. Restaurant reservations dinners were OK. The service in ALL the restaurants bars and buffet was great. My biggest gripe is probably with our butler as he really wasn’t helpful. It wasn’t until walking around my very last day there I found a VIP beach we were entitled to attend that Felix had never even shown us. II would never recommend it and I would never go back

Beautiful landscaping
Resorts is beautiful. Good tasting food is limited. Great activities. Customer service is not that great. You have to pay for lobster at the lobster house and the steak at the steakhouse

Well worth the money
My girlfriend and I booked this trip last minute on a whim because the price was so low. We were not disappointed. The resort was clean and above what we were expecting for the price. The beach as read in the previous reviews was seaweedy at times but they had a staff of 5-6 that worked all day everyday raking and removing seaweed as it came in. As everywhere you go there is people pushing sales on the beach but ive yet to go anywhere they are not. The nightly entertainment was really good and better than most places we have been. The service was also good minus the fact that daily they would run out of coconut rum which is what is in many of the drinks but they had other options and would get more by morning. All in all for the money spent it was well worth it and we would return again.

What is the proper attire for dinner at the resort? Are closed toe shoes required for men as some of the other restaurants there?6 answers
7 years, 89 months ago
beachbound
Yes, all the specialty restaurants have the following dress code - Dress code: men are requested to wear long pants and shirts with sleeves, and closed toe shoes.
KristenCC
Men and women are both fine in shorts and sandals.
FamilyWithTeens
There are signs saying closed toed shoes required but it is not enforced. They're laid back. Go, have fun, enjoy!
psytravel
A t-shirt, pants and shoes are required. I wore sandals, bathing suit bottoms and a tank top to dinner almost every night. Very relaxed.
Matt107
Men must wear a sleeved shirt for dinner at the buffet, and restaurants long pants and shoes

Is the beach calm for swimming, and is the snorkelling good on site?5 answers
6 years, 81 months ago
Buffalo, NY
The water is calm enough for swimming. The resort's website states: "Magnificent beach protected by a coral reef, perfect for snorkeling!"
BILLCC
EW.....the beach was filthy filled with seaweed. I wish I never had deleted my pictures off my phone so you would have seen. It was like a bed of smelly seaweed in the water.
Maxnchloe
nice for swimming
Ltraveler
The beach is calm but if you love snorkeling and scenic views book a tour to Isla Saona. Trust me you will have the time of your life because you get to snorkel, go into the natural pool, and get to enjoy all of the onsite activities on the island.
Dacubancutie87
Snorkeling is hard to do on site. They have these barriers for swimmers and you are not allowed outside of the barriers. You can see waves breaking offshore but it is too far to swim to.

KBDE25
Yes. Make sure you make reservations. They have a reservation booth from 8am-3pm everyday so book when you are there because they run out of room quick.
slin
Yes they are but food is bland and cold when served.
Rusty2013
Yes, for the most part, there is one that is a seafood restaurant by the grill on the beach that is not included.
Maxnchloe
Yes for the restaurants not the buffet, but you have to book early in the morning 8am
Ltraveler
No , you have to pay extra for lobster, and really really expensive , more expensive than any lobster restaurant in US
Seacouple
No, not all restaurants are included even if you did buy an all inclusive package. You only have access to the buffet and burger snack bar. You can dine at like two restaurants which are included as well but you need to make reservations.

What does VIP status entail?6 answers
Myself and three others are about to book our vacation to this resort. All the reviews we keep reading say it is definitely worth getting VIP. My question is what does VIP entail and how much more money does it cost usually?
5 years, 71 months ago
Utica NY
Please call CheapCaribbean.com at 800 915 2322 for exact prices on the VIP package and what it includes.
BethCC
VIP status includes Private check-in and in room jacuzzi. For further information, please contact the resort directly @belivegrandpuntacana.com.
SueCC
We upgraded to VIP. It was well worth it. Only $35 per day per person if you upgrade when you arrive/check in. However, we had a very poor time at this resort. My husband and I both got very sick.
LeftEarlySick
V.i.p. gets you access to certain areas including a private pool area and bar. You can also eat breakfast and lunch at an exclusive restaurant, same food as buffet but served hotter and they also have bacon for breakfast.
Hulagogo
My sisters and I did not do VIP and were treated awesome!
Ltraveler
VIP is worth it in my opinion. Just came back -- VIP has own check-in and check out (lobby gets crowded and busy), private pool, private beach and bar and most of all upon arrival you tell them the time you want to go to dinner at the specialty restaurants and they book each one as close to the time of your request so you don't have to go down early in the am (each day) to try and book a reservation....
KimH1217
Just got back from 6 days there and still don't know what the VIP status meant even though we paid the extra for it.

What are the rooms at this hotel like?5 answers
Are the beds at this hotel comfortable? Are the rooms clean and do they get cleaned daily? Will requests for bed size be accommodated?
5 years, 61 months ago
Augusta
Bed comfort is subjective based on preference. The rooms are turned over daily. Requests can be placed for 1 king versus 2 doubles on most room types. The Master Suite comes only with a king and the Standard is a double bed vs twins.
CCGreg
The beds are comfortable, but I found myself having to tip extra so that we can have sheets changed every day. Bed size doesn't apply this was selected at time of booking through cheap caribbean.
The housekeeper dropped the sliding door curtain and it stayed there on the floor for 2 days, I called front desk to report it and they told me that they would get someone and that didnt happen. In addition out tv went and we called the front desk as well, and when the Housekeeper got there to fix it I told him about the curtain as well and he told me that wasnt his job but failed to find someone.
Maxnchloe
Yes.
Shawnda52
We had a king bed. Very hard. Sheets fell off every night. Pillows and cases smelled of mildew.they clean the room everyday if you choose but I would never classify the room as "clean" . I think they have water issues. You CANNOT drink the water.
Hulagogo
Yes the rooms are very clean and cleaned daily
Ltraveler
I am picky and thought the beds were comfortable. Rooms clean and cleaned every day. We booked VIP (Master Suite) and it came with King bed. I cannot confirm if requests are accommodated.

on the Adult side the rooms are very outdated. The beds were not comfortable at all. The rooms do get cleaned daily.

I think we paid extra $500/couple... I think it is worth it... You have your own private check-in and out. Access to VIP Lounge where the check in and out is, they serve continental breakfast in the AM and snacks in the PM... They also serve drinks (limited but enough), private pool, private beach with private bar. You also make your restaurant reservations upon check in and they are confirmed all together the day after you check in. Bring receipt with you to restaurant you will need it...

There are Jacuzzis by the pool, the nightly entertainment is tons of fun and the crowd is very laid back. How much is VIP upgrade (room included), and is the buffet included with all inclusive (which restaurants)?5 answers
My boyfriend and I are traveling to Be Live in August, we have a deluxe room (should we upgrade?) and we are all inclusive. What is the price to upgrade to VIP and what restaurants are included without the VIP, is the buffet included with all inclusive?
4 years, 55 months ago
Cuyahoga Falls, OH
i am here at Be Live right now, Schedule your dinners two nights ahead of time and be there with your reservation ticket 15 minutes ahead of time. every place is include in the all inclusive. I do not know the price to upgrade to vip but any way to upgrade here would be good. The front desk staff are not respectful of women so have your boyfriend do the talking. Stay on the resort, little risky outside.
sadinpunacana
Not sure what you mean by VIP. The Be Live has a special offer called "Be Unique" but this must be added directly with hotel. Please call 1-800-915-2322 for assistance with other room upgrades. The buffet is included with any all inclusive. There may be limits with a la carte selections.
CCGreg
We just got back, and it was an additional $85 per night for VIP, which we did not do. We got our room upgraded for free when we checked in. All restaurants and the buffet are included without the VIP, but you need reservations at all restaurants every night which you won't get. You'll be eating mostly at the buffet. I don't think the VIP is worth it. The only additional thing you get is access to a separate part of the beach and pool, which is unnecessary.
JClay0920
I don't know about the VIP upgrade but all the rooms are beautiful! The buffet is included in all inclusive and have the best food from all the other restaurants. You have to make a reservation the day before for the sit down dinner at the Mexican, Italian, Brazil. To me the buffet is the best!
Blessings
I believe that the charge to upgrade to VIP without the room is $85pp. We got it for free after complaining so much. Hopefully you have a much better time than we did.
The buffet and restaurants are all included in the price. We liked the Asian and Brazilian the best. However, my family and I all got sick at the buffet so take medicine with you.
ChadRoberts
all the rooms are good, the main difference is the size of the beds. All the restaurants are included no matter, the only difference I noted was that VIP entitled you to walk up and not necessarily have a reservation.

What are the available arrangements to get to the hotel from the airport and vice versa?

The resort is very close to local cigar shops, shopping centers as well as aquatic and indoor spas. There is also a couple of theaters that perform local shows. Regarding transportation, that may be arranged at the time of booking for an additional cost.
SalCC
Check Trip Advisor for excursion info. Not much to see on the island for local culture. I was advised not to venture away from the resort on our own. Book excursions where they pick you up and drop you off at your resort. Prices vary from free shopping trip to $40.00 pp 1/2 day trip to $115 pp for an all day trip. Haggle for your best deal.
MABRKE
There are quite a few excursions that the hotel will arrange for you and I used the transportation service provided by Cheap Carribean. It was about a 15 minute drive to the airport.
barb30
There is a market that is just outside of the hotel. You can arrange a free shopping trip (that takes you to show how cigars are mad, lets you taste rum, chocolate, and coffee, and shop) or other excursions at the hotel.
nmoconnor
At the resort there are sales reps who can arrange for excursions. The excursions are fun and worth the expenses. As for transport Amstar does the transport. It is easy and affordable.

The Master Suite room category upgrades you to the VIP package.
SalCC
The VIP service comes with certain rooms--the most expensive room, I believe. if you call Cheap Caribbean, they can let you know. After reading the reviews, I thought it would be necessary to upgrade to VIP, but it definitely was not. We upgraded to the deluxe room and had excellent service, were able to book at all the restaurants, and seemed to have an upgraded wrist band. We talked to people that did upgrade to VIP and they ended up drinking at the non VIP bar, because more people were there. So, it might depend on the experience you want.

We were upgraded to VIP by purchasing this trip through Cheap Caribbean.

Vacaneeded16
they did not require us to put a deposit down.

It may be because we paid for our trip in advance, but we didn’t have to give a cc when we checked in.

Complimentary sun loungers, towels and palapas for shade are available at the beach.
JeannieCC
There are only additional fees if you add something. I had an additional $10 at checkout for renting a beach bed for the day. The VIP section ia additional as well.
Bash2016
No we had no fees when we checked out but found out after checking in at 9pm that night that we did get room service that would be a fee so we did not use. I was under the impression from the cheap carib. website it was included but it was not.
Lulu2002
Yes, everything costs extra. Beds on the beach are for rent. Better pillows available for rent, etc.
VirginiaBound
Some of the a la carte restaurants have extra fees for like tbone steak or lobster ($30), but that’s it. Room service set free of $8 delivery. By booking through cheap Caribbean we had VIP which included a top shelf name brand liquor but only at the lobby bar and vip beach bar

The resort has 904 rooms. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
No the resort is not large. Easy walking anywhere but I would not recommend staying there. It is a terrible hotel
Soon2bemrscrispo
Yes be prepared to do some walking but we took that as a plus...you eat you walk so you are getting in some exercise. You walk from your room to beach and some rooms are farther away than others. It was not bad for us but it just depends on the person. There were elevators in the buildings you stayed in if you can't climb stairs.

What airport, and is the flight direct? I live in Florida.
2 years, 34 months ago
Edgar
If you need any help booking, please call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
From Florida it should be a direct flight since I flew in from Dallas, I had to stop in Miami first than from there it was a straight shot to Punta Cana.
FunkyTown
You fly into the Punta Cana airport. It was about a 15 minute drive from the resort. There was a direct flight for us from Minneapolis, MN so I would assume there are direct flights from FL as well.
LKMC
I flew in to Punta Cana International Airport, from Denver via JFK/New York. I don't know if there's a direct flight from FL, but my friends went via Miami, so I suspect there is a direct out of Miami. Google a travel website (Expedia, etc.) or your favorite airline to see.

Is alcoholic beverages included in the all-inclusive? Or do those red to be bought separate?5 answers
2 years, 32 months ago
Kansas City
This hotel includes unlimited food and drinks, but some dining restrictions may apply. Please check with the front desk for details. So this means that while alcohol is included, this is usually basic domestic brands, and premium/top shelf liquors come at an additional cost.
JeannieCC
yes except in the vip bar
underwelmed
Yes, alcoholic beverages are included in the all-inclusive price.
LKMC
Yes, drinks are included, generally (the exception is at some of the restaurants - if you want to buy a good bottle of wine, that will cost you extra). The VIP package gets you the premium liquor, while the regular package gets you the house or well liquor, so if you drink a specific brand (e.g., Absolut vodka, Hennesey, Tanqueray, etc.) you won't get it without the VIP add-on.
DenverBeachGirl
It is included but if you want top shelf you need to go VIP

All-Inclusive is not parceled out this way, booking a stay at this property means meals and drinks are included in the price paid (although some dining restrictions apply). So instead of this much for room, that much for food, and so on, it's all in one lump sum.
JeannieCC
Its included but some resorts have you pay a small deductable of $10 - $15
