Flying into Santiago is not worth it

The cab ride from Santiago to Puerto Plata took us 2 1/2 hours each way. This seemed even longer because they were massive traffic cams trucks going the wrong way on the shoulders of the road scooters passing to the left and right and no rules of the road whatsoever. What was supposed to be five days and four nights turn into three days and 2/2 wasted days because of the extensive travel time The minivan ride cost $200 so when you add in the money wasted time and aggravation it is not worth it. This major road construction will go on for years end it is the main road for commercial vehicle s The pools and beach were nice and the food and drinks or what you would expect at an all-inclusive.

Puerto Plata 12/3 - 12/8

This trip was great! A great value price was provided by Cheap Caribbean. My stay at Sunscape Resort in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic was phenomenal. The place, the food, the people and the amenities were superb. My friend and I went Snorkeling, Horseback Riding, took a city tour of Puerto Plata and loved the Catamaran excursion to Sousa.

Great trip for first timers

I booked this trip for my children. It was a great way to get them into international travel. They enjoyed themselves. Couldn’t get my 12yo out of the pool. My 13yo appreciated being forced to socialize with the limited WiFi coverage. The rooms are big and spacious. The food wasn’t the best. Out of the three specialty restaurants one was great one was good and one needs to revamp their whole menu or get new chefs or both. The restaurant was so bad that we witnessed a whole table get up and leave their food on the table. It wasn’t until we got our food that we realized why.

Very average

The territory, buildings, room, and beach are very good. The main disappointment was dining. Buffet restaurants (Windows and Castaway) were not sophisticated at all, but the quality of food was good. As for a la carte restaurants (Damario, Gohan, and Gaucho) only salad bar was OK. In all three restaurants all meat entrees were so though that we could eat them only cutting into tiny pieces, and swallow without chewing. Also I could not imagine than mahi-mahi (in Damario) can be prepared just as a piece of dry matter. The only place with really good food was snack bar in Sun Club. By the way, the positive side was that we did not gain excessive weight.
