Good option for the price
The hotel grounds and beach were clean. There were plenty of beach chairs at the pool and on the beach. I feel like the pool water could've been cleaner. There were often floaties and I don't think I ever saw it vacuumed.
I was comfortable here and didn't need to be glamorous but could dress up if I wanted to and not feel out of place.
There were many options for dining and didn't need reservations. The food was what you would expect for all inclusive...edible and not awesome.
Make sure your flight flies into Sosua and Not Santiago. It's a long ride to Santiago.
I didn't get the warm fuzzies about the staff, but in general they were friendly. They tried to sell us membership to their resorts for VIP's and weren't pushy but tried every day we were there.
My only complaint is all of the bars were typically staffed with only one bartender where there should have been more. Make sure you bring your own Yeti or insulated cup because the bars ones are very small and with the service of one bartender, you would've been standing there the better part of the day.
Don't plan on driving here. The traffic is crazy and the drivers were aggressive with passing and cutting people off.
Staff at the hotel are very friendly because they are constantly trying to sell you things. Upgraded dinners and amenities or a timeshare. They literally wait for you outside a restaurant to hound you. We learned to lie to them ‘we are leaving tomorrow’ for them to leave us alone. The only escape from this was to go to the beach, which was crawling with vendors. 20-30 at any given time selling garbage. They would bump into chairs or jingle shells in people’s faces to wake them/ get their attention. While the beach and seascape are absolutely beautiful the hotel is lack luster. Food is mediocre and the alcohol is noname. The staff at the hotel describe this property as a 3 star resort and their least desirable location. The Dominican Republic is absolutely beautiful but I highly suggest staying elsewhere.
To whom it may concern:
This trip was less than perfect and there’s a few cery important things I’d like to bring to your attention. First the website told us that Santiago STI airport was 20 minutes from out resort, try 2 hours and 20mins we soent more time in a car than on the plane there. Due to this we didn’t receive the “welcome drinks” and or any tour info we were checked in as if our money was no good everyone rushed us along treating us like children which caused us to miss booking our return shuttle back to the airport. Yes we were 2hours and 20 mins from out flight home with a cancelled shuttle in a foreign country and spent $120 resort rate for resort taxi. This was unacceptable aswell as our room being damaged upon arrival. As well as the fact no one was clear that the $200 in credit towards the soabwas broken down so nothing was actually credited. Yet none of this bothered me as much as the absolute AUDACITY! of the workers at this resort. The fact that my girlfriend was told by a bartender to come back to the resort without me, and the men stop and stare and all the woman as if they are on the set of a playboy shoot, I am extremely upset and offended that mye and my loved ones were treated like this it is disgusting and I can assure you that our business is gone. Due to the lack of respect and courtesy throughout our stay.

Is there a Swim up bar? How far is the beach from the hotel?5 answers

Yes, there is a swim up bar at the resort and the resort is not far from the beach. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
There is a swim up bar but the drinks were not of a good quality and they had very limited choices. We only used it once which was enough for us to find another bar. The beach is very close and only a three to four minute walk to the other side of the resort. We very much enjoyed the beach.
LaraLee
The main pool has a swim up bar. The beach is very close its on the resort you have to take a maybe 3 minute walk from the main pool

Please inquire with the resort in regards to cart service. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.

You do not need a shuttle if you do not have walking difficulties. Everything is very close together including beach access. The pathways are fairly level and wide if you needed to use a wheelchair or walker. The beach might be difficult if using a wheelchair or walker.

No shuttles. You don't really need them here, the resort is not as big as some others, to my joy and surprise it takes a minute or two to get anywhere on foot. They do drive you and you luggage to your room though

All drinks (sodas, juice, water, beer, and mixed drinks) and food until 5:00 am was part of the all inclusive package. The beer and sodas were domestic brands. The food was very different than typical American fare and I was not impressed but part of the fun of traveling is to find out how food is prepared in other countries and to try the local cuisine.

It's all inclusive but has 4 places to eat and several bars for drinking

The famous Malecon beach strip is full of restaurants/bars, local vendors and Fort San Felipe to visit. The resort also has its own beach bar for your use.
StevieCC
you can drink on the beach, they even have servers that bring you drinks on the beach
hubert23
If you upgrade they will deliver to a limited area. Drinks are super watered down in general and you'll wait a long time on line.
Annie21
Alcohol is permitted on the beach. Very close by is the Barracuda Beach Bar to refill your beverages. TIP: take your own insulated mugs to not only have larger beverages, but a way to keep them cold much longer! I was not aware of actual beach drink service once you leave the beach bar area.
MWJM
They serve drinks on the beach to the Sun Club area. Theres also a bar about two feet away from the beach. Drinks are definitely allowed.
