Amazing relaxing stay

The hotel was so nice and accommodating we had such a relaxing time there were a lot of older people but if you are looking to get away from the madness this is the place to go and also the excursion that we went to Saona Island was beautiful. Great Place

Gran Bahia Princepe La Romana: We just returned from a ocean front room. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom could have had a different design (remove the narrow slippery tub and have a large shower). The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The food at the buffet was very good and the selections were many, different themes every night. The breakfast was good with many options. The specialty restaurants were good but not great. Top shelf liquor if your a drinker, but only Presidente beer which I thought was good. Entertainment was OK, sax player then a violinist, a Michael Jackson impersonator, a children's dance night and a karaoke night. The beach is nice but the water is not the turquoise color of the Caribbean, there is a drop off as you enter the water. The pool is nice but could have been a little warmer. The resort is a 45 minute drive from the airport (I timed it). I have read some bad reviews on Trip Adviser and was a little skeptical until we arrived, the place is great the staff is friendly and accommodating and the price was right! I would not have a problem returning. Cheap Caribbean: Great company to deal with. We were met at the airport and and immediately escorted to the van which brought us to the hotel. On departure we were met in the lobby of the hotel and brought to the airport where we were met by Jose Rosato from Cheap Caribbean. Jose filled out our departure papers and was a great help at the airport, a nice touch! We have used Cheap Caribbean in the past and definitely will use them again!

Wonderful vacation.

We traveled with 3 other couples. Everyone was very pleased with our accommodations. The food was fantastic. The entertainment, at night, was mediocre, however, several shows were great. The only complaint several couples had was that the Casino was very small, had very old slots and one table for cards. The casino definitely needs renovating to compete with other all inclusives. Also, in the buffet area, you do need an English understanding head waiter. We had an emergency and required a wheelchair and they brought us a chair without arms. ???

Horrible first vacation

Let me start off by saying this was a first international vacation for me and my boyfriend, So our expectations were low and pretty much open to what the resort had to o offer. Not sure if it’s the time of year we went but the resort was full of elders and retired visitors. I was turning 24 and my boyfriend is 27 so we were pretty taken back that there was no one at the resort between 20-30 probably not even 35! To not make this long I’ll just list the pros and cons Pros -pricing -clean resort -nice scenery -kind staff -Michael Jackson show Cons -the staff is constantly looking for tips (they will stand in your face until you give them something) -buffet food is limited and not good quatlity at all! -a la carte restaurants are disorganized and the food was also not good quality -we had all inclusive alcoholic beverages that were watered down (we both do not drink in the US and drank from morning til night straight with no buzz or any effect) -beach water isn’t clear -people in the lobby constantly trying to convince you on timeshare -nightlife sucks -overpriced gift shops -lack of entertainment during the day or night If your are looking to have fun and enjoy delicious food and drinks this is not the resort for you! It was such a bored and hungry experience that I don’t think I want to travel international again! -

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive, secluded escape haven on a palm-lined, private cove.

Spa's aromatherapy-starts w/ immersion in fragrant oils, followed by massage & facial. Boom.

Dropping the munchkins off at the Mini-Club (ages 4 -12) & taking some time for yourself.

The casino is FREE for all peeps 18+. Don't keep Lady Luck waiting too long.

What We'd Change

The resort restricts the number of visits guests make to its outstanding a la carte restaurants. Luckily, the buffet restaurant, Orquedea, offers exceptional dining.

Why You Should Go

It's 45 minutes from Santo Domingo airport & 35 minutes from La Romana airport.

You can take diving lessons in the pool. Splish splash.

Don't miss the activities at the pool. The Michael Jackson show is aah-mazing.

Santo Domingo is near-seeing the 16th century island life & Castle of Columbus is pretty darn cool.
