Envision this: you're hunkered down on a comfy lounger, the Caribbean purrs before you in all its turquoise glory. Your kids are off on a (supervised) treasure hunt and your fresh, frosty cocktail just arrived. You want to read your new book, but the epic seaside Mediterranean architecture and fringy palms are so beautifully distracting that all you want to do is meditate on how perfect this moment is.

Needed vacay
Dreams Dominicus is a great place for a simple getaway. No loud noise, doesn't feel like Punta Cana, and you just ease through everything. Krismely is who you see in the spa. Eddy Ramirez is the best bartender in the club, and Doris and Lizmarie give the best customer experience. And if you're a preferred customer, see Henry. He is delightful. My only negative is that paying for preferred didn't get you anything additional. There are no armbands so everything was just a free for all. Outside of that, everything was good. Pay attention to the dress code for dinner, men can wear shorts but you will have to sit outside on the patio.

Stinky beach
I would never go to dreams diminicus la romana resort again. I went to the old dreams la romana resort for many years and kept coming back. I was told by my cheap Caribbean agent that this resort was on the beach however, when I arrived I was told that all the rooms are taken and I was placed in the building across the highway and needed to take a golf cart to get to the main facilities, restaurants and the beach. The cart was never available and me and my husband ended up walking the tunnel that was rocky, dark, and slippery and my husband hurt his back. The air conditioner in my hotel room did not work properly but was never fixed despite my numerous complaints.
The beach and the restaurant by the beach had a strong bathroom smell they need to fix whatever bathroom pipes are leaking
The service in the French restaurant was so slow that we left after waiting for over an hour for a main course
We ate in the main dining room same food every day.,.
I wish we had booked for more days, but we were there for just 5 shorts days. I traveled with my husband and daughter who turned 2 yrs old a few days after arriving to the resort. We had originally booked a basic room with 2 queen beds in the preferred side since I had read reviews that the preferred side of the beach had more umbrellas and shade (I wanted to make sure we had a nice shaded area for my daughter to play when we weren’t in the sun). Henry was the person who checked us in and we were upgraded to a suite on the preferred side of the resort. He was so polite and so welcoming. The staff around the resort was so nice to everyone they saw and greeted them with an “hola!” and a big smile. Francis was our concierge and he could not have been more accommodating! Our drivers were Eddy and Samuel who also helped with our luggage and they were the nicest people. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The room was incredible. No one cleaned it on our first full day, but that was ok with us. We just called the operator that evening and asked for some fresh towels and for the garbage to be taken out and within 5 minutes someone was at our door. They apologized for the inconvenience, but again it was ok with us. We were happy with the service overall. The grounds were beautiful, the pools were big and clean with plenty of shaded areas to sit. The preferred side had a pool for kids which our daughter really enjoyed. The restaurants and buffet were also great. The beach was nice. As you get closer to the water, there is a bit of a hill of sand that you have to go down to get to the water. That made it feel a bit crowded. But there were always spots to sit on the preferred side of the beach. The staff on the beach helped you find the perfect spot and move chairs around to get you a spot where you wanted. The snack bar on the preferred side was also great. Plenty of clean bathrooms everywhere with changing tables for babies. The staff decorated our door with a “Happy Borthday” banner and balloons on my daughter’s birthday and balloons inside the room. so sweet, she loved it! There happened to be a beach party the night of my daughters birthday and the entertainment crew heard that it was her birthday, called us out to the middle of the dance floor and the entire beach sang happy birthday and danced around her! So memorable! I would definitely stay at Dreams Dominicus again. We were truly treated like family and were made to feel so welcome. Thank you to everyone at the resort!
My husband and I went on our honeymoon here. This resort is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is super helpful and attentive. We are talking about coming back with more people this year as a couples retreat.
Also - I recommend upgrading to preferred. The experience is definitely better and much more luxurious. Attached are pictures of the room we were assigned for our honeymoon.

We didn't ask but I don't think so because we dislike smoking and had persons next to us on at least 4 occasions at bars, restaurants and infinity pool and had to leave or move.

Supposedly there is. ..... But people were smoking EVERYWHERE!

You said on the all inclusive description drinks and activities what about meals?
2 years, 29 months ago
Cath
All inclusive means all meals, drinks, and gratuity included in the price. There may be a surcharge for certain menu items (ie: lobster, premium wine, etc).
CCGreg
Food and Drinks are all included
ramshak
yes, everything is included, including meals. You can even get more than one if you like.
rottncollie
Meals are included.
islandhopper17
Yes, all meals are included. There are certain times that some restaurants are open, but there is also a coffee shop that is open 24 hours. Room service is also included and available 24 hours.
In the restaurants, you have to pay if you want premium wine (the house wine is included, but it's awful). You can also pay for an upgraded meal, which is usually lobster. Otherwise, everything is included.

does the beach area have umbrellas ?
2 years, 29 months ago
olivia
While they most likely will as this is something that is common amongst most Dreams properties, there is no information available pertaining to beach umbrellas and most likely will not be available until much closer to the resort's opening date as they are still currently under construction.
JeannieCC
Yes, but go early and put something on a chair and umbrella to save it by 8:15 am to get the good spots. Also, the same goes for infinity swim up bar pool.
NandR
yes they have umbrellas at the beach and pool
ramshak
Yes. The beach and pools has umbrellas. I even saw staff rolling out additional umbrellas here and there.
SAMTHEMAN
Yes limited.

How can I guarantee connecting rooms?5 answers
2 years, 29 months ago
Steff
We can certainly put in a request, please be advised requests are not guaranteed and they are based on availability at time of check in. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
I asked for connecting rooms and I did not get it. They have some, but not available for me. If you book thru Dreams Resorts, you will get better treatment than booking thru CheapCaribbean.com
SAMTHEMAN
Steff, we recently traveled Easter week 2017, it was expressed to us in advance they'd be no guarantee, however there was no harm in asking nor trying. Regardless, our family's stay was pleasant.
WillDoItAllOverAgain

Good luck, i paid for a suite and the first 2 nights they didn’t have our room so we stayed in a smaller room. Our friends were put on the other side of the resort as well. I would say call them a bunch of times to confirm the rooms are together but when you get here that may not be the case.

Yes, they do have windsurfing, however they do not have hobiecats available. Below is a list of water activities available.
SPORTS/ACTIVITIES
Water
Snorkeling
Windsurfing
Kayaking
Catamarans
Water aerobics
Beach/pool volleyball
PADI diving center (additional charges apply)
JeannieCC
Yes, prices vary depending on who you choose to go with bring at least $300 cash for just that if you're staying around 5 days.
VeryUnimpressed
Yeah, there are kayaks, windsurfing, puddle boards, catamarans on the beach and they are free. Just needs the reservation and ... right weather
AlexM
There is snorkeling which consists of 8 rocks, which the water is only calm and clear enough 1 out of 5 days. The kayaking and windsurfing is free but once you see the choppiness of the water and the speed boats that don't care if your there you will change your mind. We saw multiple people get tipped from the wake of the boats alone. Anything like real snorkeling, fishing, all that stuff costs more money on top of the money your already paying... plus if your wanting seafood like crab, lobster, salmon... go some where else. Only 5oz lobster for 35 more dollars and no crab. All the seafood is a joke. Not even shrimp unless prepared in something that is not tasteful.
Nightmare1980
Didn’t see sun fish, they have non motorized water stuff for free, but we have not been able to use them because they said it’s too windy or something like that.

Which pool is the Preferred Club Swim-Up connected to?5 answers
The Dreams website specifies that the Preferred Club Master Suite Swim-up has a private pool but it does not specify what pool the Deluxe Swim-up and Swim-up Suite rooms are connected to. Are they private, do you share with only other Preferred Club guests or is it just a public pool?
1 year, 23 months ago
Arkansas
Most Preferred club swim up rooms share only with other Preferred swim up rooms, please check with the resort directly for more information. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
Some rooms on the first floor have the pretty small private pools. I barely see someone to swim there. But if you like privacy - it's a good choice. Everybody are swimming in the 3 big pools
AlexM
Hi, to me it looks like one private pool for three - four rooms , but maybe u don't need to overpay for it , because here two big pools, one is very quiet
Tatyana633
The swim up pools are connected to three rooms on the ground level. It's private for the people in those three suites. Hope yall get along.
Chefintraining
From what I could see, the master suite swim up does have a private pool (fits 2 people). Then there are rooms that have a small pool in front to accommodate the two rooms (about 4 people). These pools were not at all connected to the main pools. Honestly, forego the private pool. There are more people in the beach water than the pool.

yes
islandhopper17
You have to pay extra for the off resort excursions
AmandaTN
No. Snorkeling is 8 rocks. Plus that's only if your lucky enough to get completely calm water where sand is making viability non existent. You have to pay 300 for 3 people to go to actual snorkeling. Word of caution don't use the place who gives you the kayaks go to the AmStar in the lobby for anything real. I learned the hard way.

Is there a shuttle or tram to take you around the large resort?5 answers
1 year, 21 months ago

They don't have shuttles or a tram, but they do have golf carts that they drive around that can be utilized for transportation around the resort.
JeannieCC
It's people in golf karts that you can call to drive u around
Lala12
There is a golf cart, but it's not that big.
islandhopper17
There is a small shuttle, which is usually used for people who just checked in. The resort is not large and it takes less than 5 minutes to walk anywhere .

The resort is not that large to need a shuttle, but they do have golf carts to take you to your room upon check-in or if assistance is needed.

A valid credit card may be required upon check in for possible incidentals not included in your hotel reservation. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
You do not need to deposit here in the hotel. And also my suggestion: do not use credit card, bring cash with you. You have safe boxes with code in your room.
Armenaky
They have everything on file. But remember if you order too much room service you will be charged. All inclusive doesn't really mean that. If you want to have any fun or even good food please go somewhere else. Room service was always cold, raw, or not prepared the way the menu says. Only a couple people speak English and it's still lost in translation. The food is awful, no real seafood as in crab. Lobster is a 5oz which is $35 extra. If was not worth what I paid, plus nothing to do unless your paying. Their game room is a pool table and Xbox, ps3...
Nightmare1980

Is the beach good for snorkeling in front of the resort?5 answers
1 year, 18 months ago
Bear, Delaware
No. If your lucky the water is calm for 1 out of 5 days... plus if you call 8 rocks to look at as snorkeling then sure go ahead. Plus if your not informed like we weren't the snorkeling excursions next to the kayaks in the back of island is a rip off!! Go talk to AmStar in lobby, cheaper and actual a real snorkeling trip. Of course we weren't told til the end, plus AmStar took it apon themselves to find us horseback riding on our last 7 hours here... we told them about our whole trip and even they agreed the food is awful and helped fit us in.
Nightmare1980
No. Unless you enjoy only looking at 8 rocks. Plus that's only if your lucky enough to get a calm enough day where the sand isn't being kicked up where you can't see ANYTHING! If you want any real snorkeling you have to pay... and if you do don't do the Catalina island excursion in the back, go to the AmStar excursion desk in lobby, I learned the hard way.
