Beautiful beaches, great snorkeling and good fun!

We had exceptional service from Crazy G (entertainment), Latoya & Norma working at Sugar Reef Bar- always a beautiful smile on their faces. Nathall at breakfasts buffet, Elie our chef at Jap steak house (food was fantastic), Deseree at concierge desk was nice and helpful. Finally Bior at checking was welcoming. So in our experience service was good. All of the above were exceptional workers making our stay wonderful. Beach is beautiful. We got chairs by the water every day. the huts provide shade which is great too. No cards for towels, just give your room number. WAs simple/easy. Pro's: Beautiful water/beach and snorkeling. We brought our own snorkel gear and used it daily. A lot of area to uncover and explore. Our steak at Seaside grill (filet) was amazing! Salmon skewers and ceviche appetizer was amazing at seafood restaurant Oceana. We made reservatios for Jap Steakhouse, all others we walked up and got in within 15-20 minutes. We typically ate around 6-6:30pm There are a lot of drink choices on the all inclusive plan. at least 25-30 mixed drinks with rum, vodka, brandy, etc. There is also a premium bar in the lobby. Con's: Rooms are dated. Bathrooms are below par. Breakfast buffet was "eh". they did run out of plates at times and had to wait for clean ones. Mini bar in room is limited. Has a couple of local beers (Polar) a few sodas and a couple of waters. No booze. If you want refills of anything recommend requesting it daily (we did this mostly for water). Weather was warm, sunny and HUMID. First few days were perfect, got windy the last few days of our trip. Didn't really have a negative impact but you could tell the difference. We had a fantastic time. There were 6 of us on this trip- we brought our 4 kids ranging in age from 15-21. Everyone had a great time. They had entertainment each night. Karaoke, dating game, pool hall, etc. Crazy G was awesome showing the kids a good time (Us too). We took the free shuttle to the little town one day (you need to get in line at conceirge early day before (like 7:30-45am) in order to get the next day free shuttle. It books up fast). Did some shopping, lots of shops and vendors. Was pretty cool.

Not bad!

The beach was delightful, rooms were clean. Front desk attendants were wonderful. Food service was very slow. You have to prepare to be hungry and then go to the restaurant an hour before. They don’t greet you often. They just walk right by even though there are tons of open tables. Everything else was great.

Wonderful stay

Overall a wonderful stay. Traveled with a group of 9 ranging from age 9 to 88 and everyone thought it was a great trip. Pros: * First, the weather in Curacao was perfect. While back home was experiencing a heat wave of over 100, in Curacao we were between 80-85 each day with a nice breeze. We vacation a lot in the Caribbean and Mexico and the weather in Curacao is much more favorable. You don’t have the oppressive heat in the summer. Very little rain, maybe 2 times, very quick showers and done. * The people are amazing. They couldn’t be kinder or more thoughtful. I love that when you say thank you, their response is always “my pleasure”. It’s a wonderful touch to the service experience. Candyman was so friendly and even remembered our names. Each time he saw us, he greeted us by name and struck up conversations. Nathali in the buffett was prompt and attentive. There were several of the bartenders that were very good as well although their names escape me. * Snorkeling is amazing right at the hotel. Grab your mask and enjoy! The water is crystal clear and there are lots of fish. We brought masks but then saw a one piece model that has the tube built in. We bought them for the kids at the dive shop. They were expensive at $75 each but made the kids experience so much easier. You can get the same one piece models on Amazon and I recommend it. * No towel cards or wristbands. If you’ve stayed at an all inclusive before you probably know the feeling of panic about losing a towel and being charged. Same with the bracelet. It was refreshing and a major benefit. * Chairs were readily available, all day, every day. Yes some chairs are reserved with a towel but by and large there are lots of chairs available, even those with shade, at any time of day. * Italian, seafood and steakhouse restaurant food was very good. We preferred the steakhouse best but all were tasty * Location is favorable and at a perfect distance to anything you might want to do. * Rooms were spacious and updated. We stayed in the Towers and were pleased with the proximity to anything we needed at the resort. Mini fridges were restocked daily. Towels were plentiful (we asked for extra and got them every day). AC worked perfectly. Cons * Buffett food was decent but repetitive. They would benefit from more of a rotation and additional stations. Most all-inclusives we’ve been to have a different station each meal but not here. They do have an omelet station for breakfast but the line backs up and it takes a while. The bacon is not crispy and very greasy. The pizza was good. The grilled chicken and pork were delicious, as was the beef. My kids loved the nachos. The mashed potatoes were a huge hit. Desserts seem to mostly be the same cake type with a different frosting on top. * Service can be slow at times. It’s a con, but also a pro. It makes you truly sit back and relax. * Toiletries are not always readily available. They provide shampoo, conditioner and lotion, however they ran out of shampoo and/or didn’t restock a couple of times. The shampoo isn’t great but works. You will likely need more than the usual. Conditioner was really nice. We booked our excursions right at the hotel at the desk across from the store near the lobby. * We did the Sunset Cruise. We didn’t find it to be as upscale as advertised. The boat was older and the flyer said snacks and open bar but we literally got 4 bites of food and the liquor was limited to some degree. The view was nice but I wouldn’t recommend it. We also weren’t told about a stop where you could swim so if you go, you might want to have your swimsuit. * We also did the All West Beach Hopping tour. This was a really good excursion. Our first stop was an undersea cave and blowhole. It was very neat. The next stop to swim with the turtles. It was amazing. They swim all around you and are not afraid. Bring your snorkel gear to get a better look. Next was a short stop a Kennepa Beach. It’s beautiful but you are just there for a quick picture. Next is a stop as Cas Abao Beach. It’s stunning. The water is clear forever and great for swimming and snorkeling. There is also a restaurant and the food is really good with both covered and uncovered seating. Prompt service as well. Our next stop was to see the flamingos. We could see them in the very far distance. It wasn’t as exciting as described. Our guide was Rudy “Papi” and he was a lot of fun. * Distillery tour was mediocre. It’s short and cool but have the right expectations. You will learn about the process but not truly see it being made. You can taste as well but limited to a couple of the flavors. * Buggy Adventures is right across the street from the hotel and well worth it. Romie was our guide and was stupendous. He was friendly and took good care of us. He was concerned with our safety but also wanted to make sure we were having fun. The first stop is an ostrich farm. You can not get close to them but can see them from a distance. There are monkeys, macaws, peacocks, turkeys and chickens you can see. The next stop was a blowhole. After that we went to cave where you could see bats and from the top a view of Bonaire in the distance. Our final stop was at aloe plantation. It was quick but cool. I recommend you bring water for this excursion. * We volunteered at Carf (Curacao Animal Rights Foundation) and walked dogs in a nearby park. I highly recommend this. It was great to learn about the organization. My kids loved helping socialize the dogs by taking them for a walk. I reached out to them on Facebook and arranged to meet up. They were kind and compassionate. * We went into town one day and took pictures with the Curacao and Dushi signs. We also did some shopping. There are many, many souvenir stores with a lot of the same items so shop smart. Taxis are readily available and I found them to be reasonable. It was generally $5 per person wherever we went. You can arrange pick ups as well. I used WhatsApp and it worked well.

What's to Love

Red carpet check-in at Sunscape Curacao while relishing welcome treats like chocolate chip cookies or frozen pops.

Delicious treatments like strawberry hydrating facials and chocolate mani/pedis. Yum.

The luscious body wraps (for those who don't want to be tempted with naughty, sugary treatments).

The casino (adults-only) with over 300 slot machines and games (if you get too sun burned & wanna cool off).

Cool, exercise-y stuff to check out like a rock climbing wall and Sumo wrestling.

You can learn Papiamentu - a language that is mix of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English and French.

60 pristine, world-renowned diving sites. Here, you can really make a splash. (Ba dum dum).

Getting to feed turtles, sharks, stingrays, plus a dolphin experience at Sea Aquarium Park.

What We'd Change

The shore is close to the hotel, so you won't take long walks through the sand to get to the ocean. But if taking long walks on the beach is your thing, you can always walk along the shoreline.

Why You Should Go

It's just 10 miles away from the airport. Woot!

The Sun Club, a family-centric program with everything from room upgrades to cartoons in the rooms.

The island is outside of the hurricane belt, so it's good to visit year-round.

It's two miles away from Willemstad, where you can enjoy world-class shopping along with historic sightseeing (if you're into that kind of thing).

Golf is available at the nearby Blue Bay Golf Course and there are two lit tennis courts.

The beach is close to the hotel, so no long trek to reach the ocean.

Eco-adventure tours are available. Bring your bug spray, just in case.

Thanks in part to its location outside of the hurricane belt, and in part to the coral reefs that surround it, Curacao is a popular destination any time of the year.
