Best snorkeling in the Caribbean and it’s just 20 yards from my room to the water. The fish will eat out of your hand.

Hire a new chef! Take some pride in what you do!

My husband and I have been to several Caribbean islands and, thus, resorts, all all inclusive. The highlight of this resort is its beach and its location. The beach, protected by a rock barrier, is what's worth staying here: it's beautiful, snorkeling, clean, the sunsets. The resort is also a five minute walk to Mambo beach, its shopping mall with shops, eateries and nightlife, if wanting more action than the resorts nightly entertainment. Its downfall, it seems to me and, concurred by other vacationers staying there, is the majority of the staff seem bothered by your stay and the food is not good, the buffet especially, also others complained about plumbing issues and a lack in urgency to resolve. The food can be good if prepared better, it seems to me...get a chef who knows how to cook food and present it - presentation is everything! A talented chef can make the cheapest of ingredients taste like a five star meal. It was rare to find staff that was happy to help or do their job with integrity. The receptionist, checking in, seemed bothered by us checking in and didn't listen to me, initially, when I tried to remind her we paid for a premium ocean front room. When I verified the room assigned was an ocean front room, she huffed, reread the reservation, and abruptly went to speak to another person at the check in area. After both reread the reservation, she, visibly bothered, looked for another room, huffily gave us our room cards and sent us on our way without any direction. The pools were not cleaned daily, if weekly, debris in the pool, still there the next day, pool bar not manned despite guests there daily, had to get out of pool to go around to front of bar to get a cocktail (pool bar highlighted on resort's website). Also stayed during our 27th wedding anniversary, highlighted on reservation, resort's website lists what is done for those celebrating birthdays and anniversary's - didn't get what was advertised, did get a bottle of wine, the day after arrival, (not our anniversary) with no note, not sure this was for our anniversary (??), very disappointing from what was advertised on their website! No pride in what they do or their resort it seems. Not sure if we'd stay hear again, will warn our friends about staying here; however, being only one out of two all inclusive resorts on the island, limited options.

Curacao vacation

First time using Cheap Caribbean. Everything went well from the transfers to and from the airport, to our room request. Sunscape is not a 5 star resort, but it does a have 5 star beach. Plenty of seating on the beach. A little rocky getting in and out (water shoes). No need to go anywhere else if you love to snorkel. Lots of colorful fish along the rocks. Pool: We never used it but it looked ok except for the day it was closed due to algae. Not a lot of sitting around the pool Food: Buffet is your typical All Inclusive food. Not a lot of options and no theme nights like most resorts, Food is average Specialty Restaurants make up for buffet. Japanese restaurant is the only one that needs a reservation. Elle was great! Food was perfect. The others were all good. Just remember your on island time. Service is slow! order two drinks at a time! LOL Talking about drinks. Small glasses, so you might want to bring your own bigger one. Bartenders are very friendly but drinks arent that strong. Rooms: clean and no issues with hot water. Air condition was only issue with room. Set room at 60 degrees and it never got below 70. Didn't spend alot of time in room so it wasnt an issue. Casino: was ok. Couple card tables and roulette wheels. Lots of slots and a Sports book. Our sunscape vacation overall was a great time. would recommend this resort.

My trip

We had to wait 4 hours to get into our room because the room was not "ready". We had to contact the company who sold our tickets for assistance and they had problems even getting in contact with them. After they realized they gave our room to someone else, we got a different room. We know this because our resort confirmation number matched another party that got in before us. The beach was amazing. The staff was very unbearable. We had to ask and beg for shampoo every night because they did not do their part when visiting our room. When I asked for a straw for my drink, they were asking me to pay first (even though it is all inclusive). Every day felt as though I was impatiently waiting to get home as soon as possible. When it was time to return home, we asked to file a formal complaint. The resort was refusing our formal complaint and was constantly trying to bribe us not to file by giving us messages and other nonsense. Overall, my vacation was a disaster, having to argue with the staff on a daily basis was more exhausting than relaxing.

What's to Love

Red carpet check-in at Sunscape Curacao while relishing welcome treats like chocolate chip cookies or frozen pops.

Delicious treatments like strawberry hydrating facials and chocolate mani/pedis. Yum.

The luscious body wraps (for those who don't want to be tempted with naughty, sugary treatments).

The casino (adults-only) with over 300 slot machines and games (if you get too sun burned & wanna cool off).

Cool, exercise-y stuff to check out like a rock climbing wall and Sumo wrestling.

You can learn Papiamentu - a language that is mix of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English and French.

60 pristine, world-renowned diving sites. Here, you can really make a splash. (Ba dum dum).

Getting to feed turtles, sharks, stingrays, plus a dolphin experience at Sea Aquarium Park.

What We'd Change

The shore is close to the hotel, so you won't take long walks through the sand to get to the ocean. But if taking long walks on the beach is your thing, you can always walk along the shoreline.

Why You Should Go

It's just 10 miles away from the airport. Woot!

The Sun Club, a family-centric program with everything from room upgrades to cartoons in the rooms.

The island is outside of the hurricane belt, so it's good to visit year-round.

It's two miles away from Willemstad, where you can enjoy world-class shopping along with historic sightseeing (if you're into that kind of thing).

Golf is available at the nearby Blue Bay Golf Course and there are two lit tennis courts.

The beach is close to the hotel, so no long trek to reach the ocean.

Eco-adventure tours are available. Bring your bug spray, just in case.

Thanks in part to its location outside of the hurricane belt, and in part to the coral reefs that surround it, Curacao is a popular destination any time of the year.
