Great staff, great food, so so accomodation

First and foremost I read a lot of the reviews about this facility which were far from honest. Yes, the resort is always in need of a bit of care. Which I witnessed happening multiple times during my stay. It's a small older resort that has been updated - but not always perfectly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Everything in our room worked properly. Rooms were cleaned daily and very well. Pools leave a bit to be desired. They are clean, but small. If the red flag is out they quickly become overcrowded. And my biggest complaint is no swim up bar. That being said, the bar staff is amazing. Very friendly and conversational. Same goes with the dining staff. Always going over and above. Food is great compared to every other resort we've stayed at - including some upper end. Sometimes the buffet doesn't have standard breakfast meats like bacon and sausage, but they will make it if you ask. Yes, you will be asked to take a presentation for their vacation club, which you can turn down. My #1 feature at the resort is the scuba team at Dive House. We had amazing dive masters. They kept us safe and showed us some amazing sites. We would definitely return here for our next trip to Cozumel.

Needs Remodeling

After spending one night at Sunscape (building 2200) we decided to upgrade to Secrets. Rooms at Sunscape needs to be remodeled, furniture needs to be updated. Mold is everywhere. We made a good decision to pay extra $$ and move to Secrets

5th Stay at Sabor

This was my 15th visit to Cozumel since 1984, and our 5th stay at Sunscape Sabor. We requested a king size bed when we made our reservation but there were none available when we checked in on Wednesday. We were asked to check back the following day, but again no kings were available until Saturday. The first room we were given had not been made up, so we returned to the front desk and were given another room. We overheard some guest discussion about black hot water in the showers, and found that the hot water in our shower was also black. This was corrected by Thursday afternoon, no explanation provided. We moved to a king size room on Saturday for the remaining 7 nights of our stay. For several nights, the sheets were too small and would not stay tucked in. The new room had tiny ants on the bathroom vanity top and in the closet. I called the front desk and arranged to have the room sprayed the next day. I don’t know whether this ever happened, but we continued to see ants. Housekeeping ran out of 4-cup decaf coffee packets, so we bought decaf and filters at Chedraui for use in the room. Overall, we found the food variety and quality to be OK. Drinks were fine. Our biggest complaint/concern was that at Porto Fino, a buffet, the hot food was lukewarm at best, and the cold food was only cool. For the first time ever in Cozumel, my wife and I both contracted traveler’s diarrhea overnight following dinner one evening at the Patio, the Mexican restaurant. After trying to gut it out for two days, we visited the on-site EMT, who called a doctor for us. He arrived at our room in less than 20 minutes, spoke excellent English, and had antibiotics in his bag. The charge was $80 total for the visit, and $30 each for the Norfloxacin, which we felt was very reasonable. We felt much better within 24 hours and were essentially 100% within 48 hours. If you’re concerned about noise, ask for a room away from the main pool area, as there are often competing noise sources, including canned music, restaurant music, pool exercise routines, entertainment, etc. We dove with Dive House and Dive Palancar. They each had their plus and minuses, but either is acceptable. Having said all this, we would still return to Sunscape Sabor. It’s a good value. The beach is decent for Cozumel. Use of kayaks and Hobie Cats is included. Just remember, you’re “not in Kansas anymore” and roll with the flow. Although it is an all-inclusive, I bring $100 in ones with the goal of not going home with any. The hard-working staff will appreciate it.

Great value

Overall very pleased for money. Plenty of food choices, always found something we liked to eat. Staff was very friendly and accomadating. Beach was good for snorkeling but not best for swimming, rocky. Could have bathrooms closer to bars, and also a swim up bar would have been nice. Would definitely go to this resort again.
