Nice resort, excellent food

I did like this resort. It was clean, rooms were nice, best food and wait service of any all inclusive resort I have been. Only complaints would be some of bartenders were not most friendly, missing family activities for people having kids between ages of 9-14, tons of raccoons running around property after dark. Also be ready to open your wallet when you get there, all excursions are expensive and a long way away from resort. When you go, try to do nature walk at resort and if your kids are 15 or older do the bike tour. See some cool wildlife.

Disappointed

The beach was a small strip of sand. At most- 3 people in the water including me ( i was there for 6 days). Food disappointing. Buffet- breakfast good, lunch, dinner horrible. Italian restaurant awful. No reservations- great if you want to wait for a table for 90 minutes. Seaside grill excellent for lunch. "Preferred" status costs $100 per day. You get nothing! NOTHING! An extra bar, no value, poolside room, didn't need or use it. That's it. two hours from airport... Evening "shows" not worth attending.

Beautiful vacation spot

My wife and I visited Dreams for our anniversary. The resort and grounds were beautiful. The staff greeted us and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The resort is large and I think pretty full but it never seemed to be crowded. There are pools everywhere with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. I never felt a need to the mad rush to reserve chairs before dawn. The restaurant choices were enough to allow variety and the food Andy service were very good but not outstanding. They were pretty upscale which was nice. Reservations were never necessary whenever we went except for the hibachi dinner at Himitsu. The only disappointment was on Wednesday we were planning our last dinner at Himitsu on to find it closed without notice. All in all I would highly recommend Dreams for families or couples.

Observations on Dreams Resort

We stayed at Dreams 16 through 20 February 2019. Overall the Dreams resort offered very nice accommodations and good all-inclusive food. However there were a few things we experienced that need to be mentioned. Our reservation confirmation specified what we had requested, a king size bed. There were no words that indicated this was not guaranteed. On arrival we were told we would get a room with two single beds, that “bedding“ was not guaranteed and there were no king rooms available. Now we are married and celebrating our anniversary and had no intentions of sleeping in separate beds given the price point of this resort. The person checking us in basically said too bad. We began escalating the issue with supervisors without initial satisfaction at which point two young ladies were checking in and were told they had a king room and not two single beds as they had requested. We swapped and it all worked out without help from the Dreams staff or management. We signed up for the romantic dinner on the beach for 2 which was quite expensive at $310. We advance ordered Chilean Sea Bass. Along with this you also get breakfast in bed the following day. The dinner setting was beautiful and all we had hoped for. The fish though was disgusting, it was on the bad side of being fresh and was over cooked to a tough dry, tasteless consistency. We also did not get the bottle of wine that was included, we were served house wine by the glass. In addition, the breakfast in bed arrived on the wrong day and we almost missed being in the room when it arrived. The next day we mentioned the poor fish with the concierge and were told they only had the freshest fish and it was always properly prepared. Not even an apology, much less a refund or other consideration for a horrible $310 dinner. Around the pool we overheard a large group of people talking about some of them having a stomach flu and being sick in their room. As it turned out the virus was widespread and effecting a large number of people. We both caught it and lost two days of our vacation. The hotel said nothing about this at check in or any other time, made no apparent attempt to contain or disinfect, or to inform guests so that protective actions could be taken. On check out we were told it was going around but it was only a 24 hour bug. No big deal. Dreams could be just that, a dream destination. Unfortunately this will not happen until the attitudes of the staff change to be customer focused and show a desire to make all their guests satisfied and glad they chose Dreams.
