Good Enough

PROS: No issues with the added airport transportation pick up or drop off. Easy and comfortable. ABOUT TURTLE BEACH RESORT: -Staff are nice. -Rooms are clean -No issues with A/C. Rom was always cool and the ceiling fan is great. -Food at every restaurant was good. Loved the options. -The Sandtrap restaurant always had food if we missed breakfast or need a quick food option -Security was alert while my daughter and I were on the beach alone (it was getting dark) - I dont know how they manage mosquitoes but my daughter did not get bit AT ALL by mosquitoes while on the resort. We didn't wear any repellent the whole time. The one time I was bit was when we traveled off-site. -The live band in the evenings was great! Cons: -Rooms are VERY dated. -Getting reservations at the a la carte restaurants was nearly impossible. -The guest identification cards are obsolete. No one ever asked to see them , but I was told to carry them with me. The resort should switch to wristbands to identify inclusive guests. -Service at the buffets was hit or miss. Sometimes they refill your glasses and check on you, other times not so much. I felt ignored a few times. -The pictures of the resort are a tiny bit misleading. The resort was much smaller than I anticipated and old looking. Overall, I still feel it was great value for the meals and the accommodations. Yes, the resort is dated but we were hardly in our rooms. We had a great time. I would definitely return!

Bang For Your Buck

If you are someone who’s used to a lot of partying throughout the day then this place is not for you. If you were looking for somewhere to relax, unwind, and enjoy time with family and friends then this is definitely the destination for you. Overall it was absolutely worth every penny and it was a great price point. We enjoyed the food, it was better than most we’ve experienced at other all-inclusive‘s. The pool was a little bit on the small side and there was no swim up bar but the staff made that all worthwhile by walking around taking drink orders and the bar was very close by. The meals were good. The entertainment at night was fun. Our room was beautiful and overlooked the ocean. The ocean itself was really great; there were some areas that were a bit more rocky than others but it’s the ocean! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Hermanius, the bellhop/concierge, arranged a beautiful meal at Champers, a nearby waterside restaurant. The food was amazing and the ambience and service were as well. Hermanius set up transportation for us and followed up the next day to make sure we had a pleasurable experience. The staff was very friendly and throughout our stay there were multiple times we were checked on to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. A few negatives: There could have been more daytime activities/entertainment. Our shower was slow to drain. Asiago, the Italian restaurant, was so incredibly warm we couldn’t comfortably finish our meals. The food was good though and the wine was decent. I’ve already recommended Turtle Beach to friends and we’d absolutely go back again.

Recomend this resort

Great value resort with incredibly friendly staff throughout. Went the beginning of July when the resort wasn't overly crowded. Weather was great throughout - couple of rain showers but lasted less than a minute. Buffet style food every night, although a la carte dining option which required reservation allows you variety and slightly better quality. Great kids club and modern gym all included. South coat location and windy weather made for rough sea - yellow or red flag every day - which curtailed opportunity to take advantage of included non-motorized watersports. West coast allegedly offers better and calmer seas. Accommodation was excellent. Rooms were clean. Air conditioning was efficient and shower was quite possibly the most powerful I've ever come across. Exactly what you need.

What's to Love

The easy walk to St. Lawrence Gap is one of our favorite features of Turtle Beach Hotel. Barbados nightlife is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

What We'd Change

The dress code at Asiagos might be a little too fancy for the more casual traveler. Just be sure to pack some shoes other than flip-flops.

Why You Should Go

If you can, make your trip during turtle-nesting season, April to November. It's an amazing chance to see endangered sea life.

Hotel Description

Turtle Beach Resort: Enjoy A Premium Barbados Hotel with Ocean Wildlife on the Side

The stretch of Barbados' South Coast that is home to Turtle Beach Resort isn't called "Turtle Beach" for nothin'. It's actually a sea-turtle nesting ground from April through November, and lucky December visitors just might catch a glimpse of a hatchling as it scrambles toward the sea.

The wildlife, though, is only the first draw of Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados. All inclusive packages feature the hotel's three restaurants, two freshwater swimming pools and a boat-load of water sports. Try your hand at windsurfing, or watch for tropical fish from a kayak or canoe. When you're ready to explore the surrounding town of Dover, make the three-minute walk to St. Lawrence Gap, or "The Gap" as locals like to call it, a hub of shops and vibrant nightlife.

An island vibe in a natural setting awaits you at Turtle Beach Resort. Barbados' South Coast beach seems laid out just for your viewing pleasure from the private balcony of your artfully decorated room. When you arrive at the hotel, the open-air lobby welcomes you with fresh ocean breezes and a laid-back atmosphere. Each of the rooms is a suite, providing you with all the creature comforts of home. But you're not at home, you're on a Caribbean vacation, complete with beach-concierge service bringing you fresh fruit and afternoon tea. And when it's time for dinner, sample fine dining at Asiagos, the highest-rated Italian restaurant in all of Barbados.

Bringing a handful of kids along? Turtle Beach Resort's Flying Fish Kids' Club is the perfect place for them to hang out and play beach cricket, table tennis and Nintendo Wii. Even "too-cool-for-school" teenagers like the foosball setup and pool table. And with the crackle of Caribbean energy in the air, those who join in the Kids' Club's educational and cultural activities will be too absorbed by their island surroundings to even realize they are learning. Meanwhile, it's playtime for the grownups as they relax in the whirlpool or embark on a rum distillery tour.

This hotel is All-Inclusive.

  • Room accommodations
  • Non-motorized watersports
  • All meals and most drinks
  • Kids Club
