Will not return

Vacationed here for the first time, June 4th through the 11th with my sister for our annual trip. We arrived early and they greeted us with a refreshing rum punch which was delicious. Front desk staff said our room was not ready, we had to wait until 3pm. We were given our arm bands, towel cards and some info about the resort. We hadn't had lunch so we went to the buffet and had lunch. Then we had to wait. We walked around looking at the beach, pools and what the resort had to offer. We tried the coffee shop. I like regular coffee and their regular coffee is so strong it is chunky. I don't do lattes or cappuccino but that is what they wanted to give me. The girl made me a latte that she thought I would like...it was okay...but like I said, I like good old regular coffee. We did visit this shop off and on during the week for their finger sandwiches and small pastries which were very good. Finally at 3pm we went to check in. The paperwork that Vanessa gave us said that we were going to receive an upgrade which we didn't ask for. But when we checked in she smugly replied that had changed and we were getting the room that we paid for. We paid for a junior suite which I doubt is what we got. We were put in room 319 on the 3rd floor. It was on the west side of the hotel so I never got to see a sunrise. On the brighter side we had a good view of the pools and the beautiful ocean. We didn't notice until bedtime how damp everything felt in the room....the bed linens felt wet. And our pillowcases smelled dirty like they had been used and not changed. We spoke to housekeeping and they changed all our bedding. The pillowcases were fresher but the damp room continued. In fact our clothes that I had hanging in their closet felt wet when I unpacked my suitcase at home. We didn't ask to change rooms because we figured all the rooms were that way and we did like our view from the balcony. We brought our own coffee because I like my particular brand of coffee. Water was rationed....we received 2 16oz bottles and 2 larger ones a day. If we had one sitting there that was almost empty they did not replace it. We didn't drink alcohol all day, we drink a lot of water and I used this water for coffee....so it seemed like we never had enough. We did ask for more but they said no.The beach is gorgeous. We loved it. We never went to the pools because we loved the beach so much. The food was very good in all the restaurants and the buffet. Most all employees were nice but fueled by our tips which was okay.....most deserved them. The entertainment at night was okay....the entertainers seem to put their heart into it. I actually enjoyed the karaoke night and the Caribbean band the most, though. There is no store on the resort although there is one across the street from them and their prices were a bit high. We were given supposedly $920.00 worth of resort coupons, because we stayed 7 nights. They were worthless to us. One was for $25.00 off t shirts if you bought $150.00 worth. Another one was $30.00 off a massage but their massages cost $399.00. Those were the only coupons we would have used if the cost would have been more reasonable. Vanessa at the front desk checked us out and again was smug and rude. I.m not sure if she had a problem with us for some reason or if she is just that way with everyone. She was just plain rude. As I said before....we will not return.

Riu Stay 2018

The resort is small however it is walking distance to Atlantis so that makes up for lack of space and resort life feel. Two pools, plenty of food. Pool is not 24 hours however the staff is very friendly and attentive.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Primo beachfront locale - three miles of satiny sand hugged by luscious, aquamarine water.

The Renova Spa - the massages squeeze the stress right out of your bod.

The rockin' theme nights twice a week - get ready to kick it. Put on your party pants.

Krystal Fusion Restaurant - it's a journey into the unexplored terrain of epic new sensations.

The unfailing, beachtastic service & attention. You'll feel like the beach royalty that you are.

Did we mention this resort has the only infinity pool in all of Nassau/Paradise Island?

What We'd Change

You may not find as many on-site activities like the other mega resorts, but the prime beachfront property makes up for it.

Why You Should Go

There's a hoppin', Vegas-style casino next door - grab sweet Lady Luck and try your hand.

The water sports (jet skis, water skiing & more) will blow you out of the water. Hang on!

You can dive into aahh-mazing excursions like swimming with the dolphins.

Atlantis next door has a great nightclub when you want to get your dance on.

The inventive entertainment staff is off-the-charts creative. They won't disappoint.

You're close to downtown Nassau - see the old quarter, museums, zoo and botanical gardens.

Hotel Description

Riu Palace Paradise Island (Adults-Only): All-Inclusive Bahamas Bonanza

Bahama Mama Mia does this Riu have it all. And then some. Let's start with the dreamy, three-mile stretch of silky sand, where you can chillax, get your drink on (and on - no one's counting) and ignore the world, or hit a game of beach volleyball and burn some calories. And that's just the tip of the beachberg. Toggle between the Jacuzzi at the epic infinity pool and indulge in stress-ousting treatments at the lush spa aka Relaxation Central, or hit the slots next door and hang at the always-festive, hip bars until the sea cows come home. Is that a "yes" we hear? When might we expect you?

It's Time to Get Your Riu On.
