Have Mid-Range Expectations

Hotel has pretty Lobby area, very clean. Really beautiful placement right on the beach. Service and food is hit or miss. I had to pull our own beach chairs and table each time we used the beach. Employees in general didn't seem to be in hurry to assist or go about their work. Pool area is pretty, bartenders are a bit rude, but quite busy. Had to call front desk several times regarding the closed emergency doors on our floor. Magnets would not engage and guests were trying to get through to and from elevators, letting doors slam behind them. Very loud and startling that night when we were trying to sleep. Room service is very limited and would not bring drinks from bar. I was told to call the bar myself. No clean washcloths or hand towels one day. I'm not sure if this hotel is calling itself "luxury" but anyplace that provides guests with combination body wash/shampoo isn't fancy at all in my opinion. When room was cleaned, no conditioner or fresh bar of soap was left. Other guests commented that other Riu hotels were normally much better with attentive service, so I would try another Riu hotel for sure. Some good points: the resort small and easy to get around, pool area closes around 6 so it quiets down for evening. Lovely views from seating areas. On a day that rained, the hotel staff set up games, trivia and a bar in the lobby. Quick thinking...not their first rodeo. One thing I found odd...there is no sundry shop in the hotel and no t shirt shop. I had to walk to Atlantis for a few things and some souvenirs. I would think Riu would want that bit of advertising. Decent place for sure, mind your expectations, though.

Not recommended to people who like to relax

My vacation in Riu Palace at Bahamas was a first time. The Hotel itself is very impressive inside, beautiful design in the lobby.Front desk people are professional and effective. The room is clean and quiet.Housekeeping service is good,no complaints about towels and/or restock refrigerator. The food was excellent in the main dining room by varieties and was tasteful. The four restaurants they give you options to choose from were difficult to get because no reservations available. However the beach(one of the main thing for islands vacation)has issues...First :service men who give you chairs and umbrellas are rude and mean. They only good to people who give them a tips every time you come.Second:a lot of vendors people constantly walking around and “harassing “you with their lousy things, over and over.Very annoying! Some of them wild and drunk. And since the beach itself is not big,you feel very crowded and uncomfortable.Third:Very loud music playing on the terrace up,making presence on the beach not peaceful nor relaxing. So,for people who look for a peaceful environment this hotel is not a choice. But for young people who like actions and vibrant environment it is probably good .Also would like to mention that there is no night entertainment here.If you want some you have to go to the next door Atlantis Hotel. They have a casino, shopping and shows. But overall I would say that Hotel met my expectations, except beach environment and service.

This Riu resort is a little bit smaller than the average Riu, but it was extremely clean and presentable inside. The dinner selection was incredible. One thing I disliked about this resort was the beach area. It was filled with locals trying to sell you things and very over crowded. It felt like I was in Ocean City, Maryland when on the beach. The ocean itself was beautiful and there was no seaweed on the beach. If you want a lot of bar selection, this is not the place for that because they only had one nighttime bar and one outdoor bar. Other than those two things, I definitely enjoyed my stay at this Riu.

Excellent place to vaction

My experience in Paradise Island RIU was excellent What stuck out the most is the friendly professional staff. When I say friendly I am referring to all of the staff from the person giving out towels, to the waiters, the people cleaning the rooms, security everyone was so pleasant. The hotel is very clean every time you look up their cleaning. I am an early riser and had a view of the pool and beach. Everyday 5 am in the morning I watched the staff prepare the pool for guest cleaning the pool and beach area. The food was descent as well. I usually do not like the food in all inclusive hotels. The food was better than I expected. Finally, I would like to mention one staff member who deserve an honorable mention he was a waiter in the buffet area. His name is Christoph. He was so nice to me and my best friend a real gentlemen. He waited for us every evening and guided us to our special seat. If we sat in a different section and he saw us he would come and get us so he could take care of us. When we left we gave him a nice tip for his service. Again, everyone one was so nice. This is a compliment coming from me I travel a lot so I have something to compare the RIU to. One day I walked up to the manager and complimented him on the service. Needless to say II have plans to travel to Jamaica soon and I usually stay at a different hotel. Whenever I go I will be staying at the RIU.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Primo beachfront locale - three miles of satiny sand hugged by luscious, aquamarine water.

The Renova Spa - the massages squeeze the stress right out of your bod.

The rockin' theme nights twice a week - get ready to kick it. Put on your party pants.

Krystal Fusion Restaurant - it's a journey into the unexplored terrain of epic new sensations.

The unfailing, beachtastic service & attention. You'll feel like the beach royalty that you are.

Did we mention this resort has the only infinity pool in all of Nassau/Paradise Island?

What We'd Change

You may not find as many on-site activities like the other mega resorts, but the prime beachfront property makes up for it.

Why You Should Go

There's a hoppin', Vegas-style casino next door - grab sweet Lady Luck and try your hand.

The water sports (jet skis, water skiing & more) will blow you out of the water. Hang on!

You can dive into aahh-mazing excursions like swimming with the dolphins.

Atlantis next door has a great nightclub when you want to get your dance on.

The inventive entertainment staff is off-the-charts creative. They won't disappoint.

You're close to downtown Nassau - see the old quarter, museums, zoo and botanical gardens.

Bahama Mama Mia does this Riu have it all. And then some.
