Worst resort

The resort is a joke. Service was horrible and food was really limited and bad. You had to make reservation at least two days in advance and the restaurants were pre made meals. The service was extremely horrible and the employees were not nice and it felt like they were doing you a favor. By far the worst experience and I don’t recommend this resort at all. Mini bar was a joke and they did not stock up your mini bar everyday. Bed are the most uncomfortable and cheap mattress ever.

Average in many ways, better in others

The good: The beach is beautiful but few fish. The rooms are small but comfortable. The service in most areas was very good. Waitress Monique by the pools has a great personality. The Asian fusion restaurant was the best such restaurant. Ability to get free rides to Balmoral Island was very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean in most areas. Water pressure was very good. The market across the street was nice to have. Ease of getting pool towels was good. Things they could change: Have more than one tour group (Majestic Tours) available to book excursions. They have a monopoly, so quality and prices of trips suffer. Trim vegetation that continually sheds into the side pools. Drain nasty water from pools overnight as pools get bio contamination;-/ Have day care center open to any potty trained kids, not just 5 and over. Plumb drains in room bathtubs once in a while. Have better backup generators as resort-wide power outages occurred. Have an actual entertainment stage area to put on real entertainment shows as many resorts do. Have a second bartender in lobby area. Have 2 more front desk staff available at busy times. Train staff at steakhouse to better; their tips are automatic so the service suffers. The steakhouse is very pricey and although good, you can tell the steaks had been frozen. Fill all other rooms first before filling ones on construction side. Things that can’t be changed: Rooms are small. Beach has few fish, so snorkeling is lame. An artificial reef would be expensive. Standard taxi fares are very expensive (i.e. $26 one way for a 10 minute ride).

I am so disappointed from Melia. We were for a week. There were not beach towels available for the first 24 hours and sometimes during our stay. The first 2 day there was only one working elevator for 500 rooms. The food were the same for lunch and dinner every day and menu were poor: pizza, macaroni, hot dogs, rice, 3 kinds of meat - beef, lamb and chicken. That's it. Only one kind of ice cream and it is from machine. The fruits offered were apple, banana, grape and pineapple every time. There was a long line for check in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a construction going right next Melia. The service at all is not good or the people who work there are embarrassed of all complaining customers. We didn't have what we expect except for beach.

Worse all inclusive ever. RIU is great

We always stay at the RIU on PI which is great, we decided to try this place just to compare, it was a big mistake. The place is not setup to be all inclusive. Food and service were terrible. I was robbed. I even went to a local restaurant and bought food after paying the all inclusive cost.i would not stay there again. I understand that it was a political move that gave them the license to be all inclusive. You figure the rest
