Great package & Experience!

We purchased the all inclusive package for an amazingly great deal. The hotel, Melia, in New Providence, was very clean, elegant, and and hosted a calm, welcoming environment with a splash of entertainment. My husband & I absolutely loved the clean beach and pool. The food was great and the drinks were good(just wish the alcohol level was higher, lol). Definitely worth it...will be repurchasing.

Overall decent stay

This was not the best resort we have stayed but also not the worst. Melia bought this property about 4 years ago, and they are still remodeling and doing upgrades. The restaurants had good food. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian restaurant, and the least favorite was the buffet. Service at the restaurants for dinner was average, but for lunch the servers ignore you. You have to ask for drink refills if you are lucky to see your server after the food is delivered. One day for lunch we ate our meal and asked for dessert. Our server literally disappeared for 15 minutes and then came back and asked if we needed anything else. We replied, "Our desserts," and she said "Oh yea." Then she went to get them right away (they were already prepared and done) and finally brought them to us. Also, the service at the bar by the pool/beach was terrible. If you do not flash money right away the bartenders will ignore you and ask other people what they would like. You only get decent service if you tip them ahead of time. One day the bar ran out of beer, tequila, and vodka. Overall employee attitude was not very good. They all seemed to be unhappy with their jobs. I'm guessing it is because of the recent changes of management due to new owners. The beach was great with beautiful water. If you want a cabana be sure to get up and claim your spot that you would like to have by 7 or 7:30 at the absolute latest, or you will not get a cabana. People put towels down on the chairs they want, and then they head to breakfast. Daily entertainment was average. 25% of the time they said there would be an event there was not. There was supposed to be a magic show one evening, but the magician did not show up. One afternoon was supposed to have a ping pong tournament that was also cancelled.

Needs Updating

Hotel is old and upon arriving I immediately thought I made a mistake by booking. Food was average at best. No coffee at several of the restaurants to enjoy with your dessert. Rooms were adequate but need updating. Beach was wonderful and that was the reason I was able to get passed many of the things that would have normally made me very unhappy. Buffet was one of the worst I have ever eaten at. Breakfast was even a struggle and when ordering omelettes we were made to feel as if we were unconviencing them. Spoiled milk at breakfast on table for coffee. Disappointed the booking agent wasn’t more upfront about how old this resort is. Other travel agents I called suggested Punta Cana starting most hotels were newer and better but that was not mentioned here. Felt extremely rushed when booking and basically the agent just wanted to “seal the deal”. I would not go back to this resort unless it was completely renovated and happy that we booked for a great deal otherwise my review would be very harsh. Employees for the most part were friendly but management was non existent. Resort needs a total over haul. Power went out for one night for almost 3 hours and not one hotel employee was able to provide us with information and again management was non-existent.

Beautiful beach

We booked this trip sort of last minute , was planning on going to sandals Exuma but d/t booking so late couldn’t get flights The melia looked nice but if you’ve been to a sandals it will pale in comparison First off we mentioned on our booking it was our anniversary Not that we expect something but we were in the all inclusive plan and a bottle of wine , dessert would’ve been nice upon arrival Paid extra for a beach view room that other than beach view has no upgrades Hotel is under renovation so outside is unpainted It was cold in room at night comforter was thin as sheet - we froze If I could’ve bought a blanket I would have I called front desk for extra blankets none available People come out night before and put towels on beach chairs hard to get umbrella or hut if u need an umbrella forget it they don’t have any extra you will have to suffer in sun or go in I found most of staff extremely nice but they definitely respond more to you if you tip. There is no reason to upgrade to level but if you don’t and order room service there is a 10.00 charge each time One employee told us we could not charge this to our room probably because she say my husband standing there w $20.00 and no change Food is sub par you can’t get steak or lobster unless you pay extra best things are burgers on the grill poolside and room service Restaurants book up fast and food not that great The tapas bar is basically nachos n burgers not tapas Too many things not included or charged extra Also when you check in be prepared to be charged a returnable 200.00 service fee that you get back at check out as long as you haven’t incurred any charges I can say the beach is beautiful , water turquoise blue Sand white and soft But basically anything extra you need or want is a NO Sandals doesn’t know that word and you’ll never open your pocket book there
