Amazing Abaco

Just got back from a 5 night stay and we had a wonderful time! We stayed in one of the second floor suites, my son and his girlfriend had booked one of the lower level rooms but upon arrival the suites were not full and Avis in the check in office upgraded them to a suite, made their day! This is a secluded and laid back atmosphere which we loved, the beach is phenomenal, several restaurants on sight that were all very good. Everyone we encountered at the resort as well as locals were very friendly and helpful. There is a grocery store at the resort which was very handy since our room had a fully equipped kitchen. We rented a car at the airport but later found out this was an unnecessary expense because everything you need is within walking distance or you can rent golf carts at the resort to branch out a little further. We rented a boat with a guide for a day, visited Hope Town, Man O War and Mermaids Reef, also stopped to do some fishing!! Our guide was Alton and he did a fabulous job, when we returned to the marina he cleaned our fish for us and we took them back to the room and cooked them for dinner. Also helping at the boat rental place was Wilson, I can't say enough good things about this young man! He is always smiling and eager to help in anyway he can, he is a huge asset to your resort!! The ONLY issue we encountered was with the flight back home form Marsh Harbor to Miami, after several delays the flight was ultimately cancelled due to mechanical error, the only option American Airlines gave us was going to find a hotel room and flying out the next day instead. This wasn't really an option for us since 2 of us had to return to work the following day, we booked a flight to Ft Lauderdale with Silver airlines then had to get a cab to miami airport to catch connecting flight. The additional cost was $1200.00. I have contacted LISA in Post Travel with cheap caribbean and she states that she is submitting this for some type of refund, i am VERY hopeful that this is made right by cheap caribbean as I have used them for many years and would like to continue to do so as well as continue to recommend to others.

A REAL TREASURE

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and got to do a lot of awesome things in a short amount of time. The first night we chilled at Tipsy Seagulls, had some pina coladas, ate some conch fritters, and listened to music while watching the boats come and go on the marina. The only thing that could have changed was the prices of the food, little pricey. The second day was spent going out on the Abacos Adventures which included swimming with pigs on No Name Cay, feeding sea turtles, sting rays, and nurse and lemon sharks at Manjack Cay. This experience was unbelievable, especially since we had no luck finding a sea turtle at green turtle Cay. We had booked this adventure a month in advance for the half day but when we got there they told us we had to do the full day since everyone else coming along was doing that. So that was a little unexpected, ended up costing us $260 instead of $160ish for two. Either way it was a great experience and since it was the full day, we also Got dropped off at New Plymouth and got to walk around the town and find some local dining. We needed up at McIntosh Restauramt and ate the lobster Mac and cheese and chicken wraps. Good food, SLOW service, they only had one person in the kitchen and had a lot of customers. We didn’t even get our drink for half an hour, and when it came it came as a virgin pina colada. We ended up not drinking it since it took so long and came without alcohol. We assumed if u don’t specify, it automatically comes with alcohol, it’s a vacation, should come with some alcohol, right? Anyways, the experience was once in a lifetime and we got to meet some cool people that were on the trip and also at some establishments. For dinner we ate at the spectacular Spinnakers. 5 stars for the food and especially the service. Did not get the name of the waiter but he was hands down what saved our dining experience for the trip! We tried Coco’s and the food and service was sub par. We ended up leaving there and going to Spinnakers. Third day started out at Coco’s again, gave them another chance. The bfast was actually a lot better than the dinner, and service was slightly better than night before. Although a small orange juice in a bottle was $4 each, pricey. This day was the sunniest of our stay and it stayed out all day. Perfect weather! 80 degrees and barely a cloud in the sky. We laid out about a quarter mile away from Coco’s and swam in the unbelievable turquoise waters. I can’t explain how perfect the water and sand were, nothing will give it justice unless you have been there. So at ease and in literal paradise. We got some drinks from Ccco’s and Walked toward Windward Point to check out the sand bar we read about before the trip. We walked through Treasure Cay Road and discovered the sweetest neighborhood, totally unexpected. Perfect retirement area, with the best beach we had ever seen right behind each house. And they had the coolest name for each house such as “Someday Came” and “Tranquility”, and one of the houses (blue), had a badass sign at a gate that said “Surfer Girls Crossing”, totally awesome. Right next to that house was where you find the trail that leads to the sand bar. This experience was SO GREAT! You could literally walk like 400 yards, probably more if we kept going, at only knee level in the water. This, like the entire beach, was #1 beach we have ever been too, when the suns out, no clouds, and unbelievably clear turquoise water, you don’t want to be anywhere else. This day was so perfect. In between on all day, we experienced the local life as well, like the small grocery store, conscience store, and the awesome Florence’s Cafe. The eggs and bacon we had right before the Pig adventure, was delicious and tasted like that kind of taste of a iron skillet that was well seasoned with flavors from past cooks. They also had some great bakery foods. We got to meet a Nassau resident and he was so real and had a cool story. Makes me want to leave it all and work and live in the bahamas, leave all the US stresses behind in the corporate world. Although, when you get back to the states, you realize how spoiled you are, but that what made the trip so great, it felt like real island life, not a typical resort with everything at your fingertips and everything being staged and roped off. This beach had not one rope, and the wildlife we saw was all compeltely wild, not staged. Overall, 5 stars!

Boaters Paradise

Here's the deal: we wanted a glorious, powder-soft, white sand beach vacation. And this delivered. Having traveled all over the Caribbean, I can honestly say that Treasure Cay Beach is truly outstanding. Among the best. As for the resort itself, the staff was friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and everyone should upgrade to a condo if possible. The outdoor patio and kitchen space were worth the marginal upcharge. And if you do have a boat, or are renting one, TC Resort & Marina is a great place to call "home" for any period of time. Overall, the resort accommodations suited us just fine. That said, this is not a “cheap” Caribbean destination. There are additional costs at every juncture, and nothing is ever included. While the beach itself was epic, we would not recommend Treasure Cay, or the Abacos, to anyone who doesn’t have their own boat (or already rented one), and/or doesn’t have thousands of extra dollars to spend on food, golf cart rentals, and excursions. To truly appreciate The Abacos, you need to be able to travel freely between the islands, experiencing the different vibes each location has to offer. You simply can’t do that with a limited ferry schedule, especially one that doesn’t allow for sunsets or night travel :( DO: Visit No Name Cay and the “swimming” pigs (who really aren’t into swimming, but they do like your snacks). DO: Swim with the turtles and rays and sharks. DO: Rent a bike and explore the little beach access points around the island DO: Visit Treasure Sands Beach Club. Great food, great pool scene, great staff, and insta-worthy pink dock. DON’T Go if you have a tight budget. DON'T Go without access to a boat.
