Hotel not worth the hype
Kudos to the marketing team at the Renaissance Aruba for their promotion of this resort. As a Marriott Elite Rewards member, this resort does not meet the level 5 rating as advertised. The “adult only” side is a much smaller property with a small pool and lackluster amenities. There is nothing “adult” about it OR the adult side of the “private island.” The family side features much larger rooms and actual ocean views, larger pool, entertainment, and access to the water. If you must stay at this property, stay on the family friendly side (when kids are in school). The rooms on the adult only side are small with no nice views. My “island view” looked like an alley and that was after changing rooms twice. Very basic room, no
USB ports, no “luxury.” More 3 star than 5. Im not sure if there is a discount section for cheap Caribbean customers but this property and rooms do not live up the the hype. The staff was nice and the property was very clean , those were the positives.
Let’s talk about the private island, a small, man made version of a “beach.” Very disappointing. Food service was extremely slow as there was one person serving an entire side of the island. There were 4-5 flamingoes who came out periodically, paraded around, and posed for photos lol. Cute, but very limited time to see them.
I visit Aruba twice annually. This was my first and last time at this property. Stay on Palm Beach. There’s much more to do and nicer properties.
The hotel is beautiful! You have to see the private flamingo island that’s free to guests at the hotel. The other beach that is outside the sister hotel is “ok” but being from Mass it just looked like regular blue water. It wasn’t crowded and there was enough room for everyone (I heard otherwise and why I mention this) Take a taxi to the other beaches off the beaten path (all rates are set by Aruba govt) so you know how much you will pay for the taxi ride. The restaurants around the hotel are more expensive of course and the stores are too so that’s why I say venture out! I took a taxi and a bus. I did tell the front desk 3 times the phone in my room didn’t work but they never fixed it but they did set me up with great tours and looked for the best deals for me! So the phone not working didn’t really bother me...Must do the pondereoza horseback riding tour! So worth the money and cheap Caribbean made this all possible! Legit site!

The Trip of a Lifetime!
The Renaissance Aruba is a stunning place with views of the ocean. It is conveniently located in the heart of Oranjestad, with super easy access to just about everything. We loved we could park our car each night an then hop the hotel shuttle to head across to plenty of dining and entertainment options.
The staff was wonderful and helpful and we loved our room. The bed might seriously have been the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. Loved the Renaissance!
Such a great vacation ... Great location and the private island was a wonderful experience. Anyone visiting Aruba must experience it the Renaissance way!!! Thank you Cheap Caribbean can’t wait to book my next vacation with you

The Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino offers the only private beach on the island as well as access to the Renaissance Island featuring a family friendly and adult only beach. The distance from the guest rooms to the beach depends on the location of the guest room.
MellissaCC
It takes approximately 10 minutes because they have to pick up at both hotels. It didn't take long at all.
LGWherry
There is a beach right at the hotel. We stood at the Ocean Suites part of this resort and the beach is right there.
LikeItHot
You are very close. The water taxi comes into the hotel lobby to pick you up and take you to a very private island. If you stay in the ocean suites the ocean is only on the other side of the pool but the best beaches are on the private Island.
Tomski
If you are staying at the Ocean Suites it is right out the back door, if you are at the Marina Hotel it is a short boat ride to the Island or you can walk about 1 block to the Ocean Suites beach.
Paradis
The only beach near by is going to the private island. It's only a 10 minute boat ride and is very beautiful. Any other beach you will have to take a taxi (baby beach, eagle beach). Taxi's offer fair prices, not expensive. From the hotel to the high rise hotels it's around $11.
mrswhelihan
The hotel is on the beach and also has a private island with beautiful beaches 8 min away by boat. The hotel provides the transport to and back from the island.
cavimeva14
The Suites in located on the beach, but there is no beach at the Marina. There is a golf cart shuttle that runs between the two hotels all day and evening so that you can use the beach at the suites. The boat that takes you to the island comes into the hotel. You board at the bottom of the escalator. There is a canal that takes you under the street and into the open water. We enjoyed the short boat ride...10-15 minutes.
okiebug
There are two hotels at the Renaissance- the Suites side which has a lot of kids and families and the Marina side which is adults only. The marina side is where we stayed. For beach options, we had two- walk across the street and past one building to the suites side which has a pool and a little tiny rocked off beach by the water or take the boat shuttle to the private island. The boat shuttle comes every 15 minutes and is about a 10 minute (or less) trip out to the beach(private island).
sunflowergrl
Depending which part you stay, exactly on the beach or directly across, nicest hotel that is offered with its own private beach, and upscale. Seeing the other hotels, I was happy that I picked the right one the first time. Seeing the strip there wasn't a single hotel that we thought"I wish I would have stayed there" this is the best and affordable!
Michiganders
One is lacrosse the street, others are about 10 min car ride.

Philadelphia
The waters of the Caribbean sea are calm and clear.
CoryCC
The water is clear & for the most part calm. It also depends on where you go. The private island is very nice with clear water and is very calm.
mrswhelihan
Oh yes there is- beautiful calm and crystal clear beaches- perfect if you have small children
cavimeva14
At both the Suites and the private island there is rock break water enclosing the large swimming area. Since we stayed at the Marina we went to the private island. The water was clear and the beach and swimming area was sandy with a few small rocks that you were able to see.
okiebug
Yes, most beautiful water of all the islands in the Caribbean. However, to get to the water in this hotel resort you have to take a boat shuttle to a private island so be ready for that!
sunflowergrl
yes. very clear but not calm. very windy. choppy water.
barefoot67
Just as gorgeous as every picture you see, but that much more amazing in person!
Michiganders
Most parts of the island is calm. Near the resorts for sure. V
Iavarones
AM - clear enough to see fishes (not crystal clear)
PM - enough silt to make it hard to see fish
LisainVa
Absolutely,Just don't stay at the Renaissancee.
andru
yes - water is calmer near hotel and crystal clear all around the island. The north side of island was very windy with choppy waters.
