I love Aruba, one happy ISLAND

Divi and its sister resort were wonderful... only wish to have more food choice... but what they had was great tasting. The De Palm island Off road tour was FANTASTIC. The whole group of drivers were wonderful and kept everyone safe

Divi Aruba, Good value for the Money. Great Beach!

Spent 6 days at the resort with our two teenagers. Pros: Great beach and Ocean. Best beach we've ever been too. Our girls found plenty of shells in the water. Plenty of Palapas. Even though we found many held with towels, we never had a problem getting one after breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Short walk to the beach from any room. Timely daily room cleaning. Half the price of more high end resorts, but still nice. Walking distance to the Cruise Liner Port where there is a lot of shopping. Felt safe on the streets when we walked. Take a taxi from the airport. About $22 each way for 4 people. Cons: Bars don't open until 11am if you want a soda. Fridge in room is not stocked with juice, soda, water or beer. Have to buy that in the gift shop. Pools close early for cleaning, so no evening swimming. No shampoo or conditioner in the room. No beach service. Don't use the Catamaran unless you know how to operate. They weren't allowed to provide directions. Probably a safety rule. Leave plenty of time to get through airport on way back. Very long lines on weekends. Overall: Good value for a family vacation. Doesn't have a lot of the perks of a high end resort, but it is less expensive so that makes sense. Did I mention the great beach!!!

Fantastic First Vacation

The Divi All Inclusive was a beautiful resort. It is private and quiet which is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. We got to relax on a gorgeous beach that could not have been more comfortable. The sand wasn't hot on your feet and there were no rocks to worry about. The water was crystal blue and very comfortable to be in. We never had trouble finding a comfortable place to sit and relax whether it was on the beach, at one of the pools, or anytime we went to the bars and restaurants. The service was great throughout our whole stay. My wife is very outgoing so she got along with all the wait staff. One in particular was fantastic with us. Maria from the buffet was wonderful and we hope to come back to see her again. We are already planning on coming back next November with our kids this time. We had no issues with our flight or transportation. We found it very easy to navigate the airport and find our bus to the resort. The driver to the resort was fun and knowledgeable. He made the 15 minute ride exciting for us. We will definitely be using Cheap Caribbean again for our next vacation which I can't wait to book.

A thorough review...

We recently stayed at Divi Aruba A.I. for five nights. This was our first stay in Aruba and a first in a Divi resort. First off, I will say that the resort was nice; The service was great; The staff were generally nice and helpful; The guests were cool. The beach and sand was nice and clean. The water was amazing. It was a good place to lay low for a few days and we felt it was a good value overall. We highly recommend bringing bug spray and anti-itch because you will get mosquito bites. The weather averages 85f and humidity is high. We got a lot of bites the first few nights. Be sure to arrive at the airport at least 2.5 to 3 hours before your flight time, if coming back to the USA, because customs took forever. We had a good time there and would go back. If you want to know more, feel free to read our observations below. The Room: It was a Garden view room, in the 400 building of rooms. The view didn't matter because we were less than a minute from the beachfront and there was little to no noise coming from the garden. Keep in mind, we spent only little time in the actual room as we were mostly out and about. • We noticed a weird smell coming from the bathroom, on or around the second day of our stay. It was like sewage coming up from the drains. • The walls were somewhat thin, and you could hear a lot beyond the door and walls. • We had a room with two queen mattresses, and both felt like you can count the number of springs on your back. • There was a decent selection of TV channels, but quality was just ok, not HD. • Wi-Fi was great throughout the resort, and even on the beach. However, forget about getting a signal in the room. This is not a bad thing, especially for those concerned with radio waves and such. However, when we wanted to check-in with friends/family on social media, or catch up on what’s going on in the rest of the world, there was no signal. • They had a ductless AC, which sounded like constant water running. Again, that may not be bad for some, but for us, it was annoying and kept us from getting quality sleep. You could manage things like constant temperature, humidity, etc. In fact, that was kind of cool. • Other things that we noticed was the poor quality of construction of the room and fixtures. For instance, the all glass shower door did not close all the way. The tiles had extreme lippage and uneven grouting lines. The faucets and showerhead had sporadic pressure issues and occasionally it was hard to get good water pressure out of them. • Some furniture had handles fall off because the screws were loose. • They forgot to modernize the walls. They were still popcorn texture. I know I sounds like I’m nitpicking, and a few of these things is not a big deal, however it is apparent that they used sub-par contracting and cheap unskilled labor to “modernize” their resort. We expected better for the money spent. This resort tries to seem “upscale” but on face-value, it does not fully deliver on what they advertise. The Food: Regarding the food selection, there were plenty of choices in the buffet. The food was ok, nothing to rave about, but anyone would be able to find something fitting their diet. Their French Toast was great. You can eat very healthy or pig out. Obviously, the unlimited alcohol helps the appetite. We preferred the buffet over in the Tamarjin. It looked nicer and felt more upscale, but had similar selections. Did I mention that we had full access to the Tamarjin? Both resorts are a five-minute walk from each other, or you can take the mini-shuttle which runs constantly. Each resort has a buffet and a few bars that serve burgers, pizza, hotdogs, sandwiches, etc. Feeling hungry late night/early AM, they got your fix. Also, each resort had a few specialty restaurants. Mainly Italian, Asian, Mexican, International, etc. You can find more info on that on their site. You are required to make a reservation, you must book two days in advance. Not sure if it was because of the crowd, or if that’s just how it works. We liked the Mexican place, good Margaritas and tacos. The Italian was sub-par, and we didn’t bother booking the rest since we went off the reservation for local fare. You are likely to see flies, iguanas, and a lizard or two in the buffet. I’d like to see them do a better job of keeping the flies away from the food. It seems like they don’t have a handle on that. Also, I’m sure the climate plays a role here. The iguanas don’t bother anyone, and they’re cool to see. We pet and fed a few. The lizards keep to themselves. There are not many, just a few here and there. Alcohol: Decent selection. Most of your Caribbean mixed drinks are available. In addition, decent selection of spirits. Not top shelf stuff, but decent domestic and imported selection. No craft beer unfortunately. You’re stuck with the local Balashi, Amstel, Heineken, and I think Miller Lite. IF you’re looking for good craft beer, I suggest going off the reservation to Bavaria. It’s less than 10 minutes by taxi. Resort: Overall the resort is nice. They keep it clean and maintained. We didn’t use any of the pools since the ocean was right there. However, we heard the pools were nice and looked clean. We noticed some exposed wiring outside. They should probably take care of that. The beaches are very clean. There are many cabanas, and beach cots/chairs. Sand is very nice and clean. We did not see anyone soliciting. It was good. Just make sure you get up early enough and grab a cabana. We just grabbed one early and left our towels on them. No one will bother them. You get good Wi-Fi on the beach, so if you wanted to read or watch something on your personal devices, it’s great. Again, the staff is generally very nice and helpful. Their gym was under renovation, so we went to the Divi Village and Golf club gym. It was nothing to rave about. The equipment was outdated, and needed some maintenance. However, everything seemed to work and we were able to get a workout in every day. Aruba: The rest of the island is nice. We spent a few of the days seeing the sights and visiting places the locals recommend. We loved Zeerover’s for the fresh seafood, Bavaria for the German food and over 100 imported beers, & Benihana for the Mojito’s (best on the island according to the locals). There are many more excellent local places to check out, we just didn’t have enough time. We suggest booking a tour by DePalm Tours, which can be done with the concierge at the resort. You will see the entire island in one day, coast to coast, on a very comfortable tour bus. You will see all the popular places like the California Lighthouse, The Alta Vista Chapel, Natural Bridge, Natural Rock Formations, Baby Beach (where you will snorkel), etc. Our tour guide Ryan was very informative and went above and beyond to teach us about their culture, history, language, life, and social issues. We learned a lot and it was worth every dollar. The island is very safe, as the economy is solid. We could go on daily morning and evening jogs all around, and no one bothered us. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy your trip!
