Fun vacation
Resort was mostly adults. Very friendly staff. enjoyed that every hotel has a casino. Snorkeling a shipwreck and taking a UTV into the desert was the most fun. Highly rcomnd
This resort was beautiful, safe and so clean. Our view on the 5th floor pool & beach view was beautiful. Be sure to make reservations for the restaurants for the week right away.
A better explanation of how the chairs at the beach in the pool worked at check-in would have been nice. Pool is first come first serve, beach is rentals for shade. Free floats for the beach & pool was amazing.
My only complaints are things the resort can’t change I felt there wasn’t enough outdoor eating and drinking in the evenings but I also felt that was due to Aruba always having a nice breeze so it kept the resort clean.
Going on vacation in January from upstate New York you want to be outside as much as possible . It was so safe to walk around at night in the town and on the side walk beach side between resorts.

Great Vacation
The hotel is nice, clean and comfortable. It's in a great location, with a beautiful beach, and close to other shops and restaurants. The staff were all super friendly, especially at the pool bar. We pretty much ate at the buffet restaurant, which was ok. Nothing to write home about, but decent food with a lot of options. We ate at the onsite Mexican restaurant, which was good. But we ate a couple dinners out. Let's face it, you don't go to an all inclusive for 5 star food. We purposely planned our trip to have some dinners out so we could see the island, and I had head they had great restaurants (they do!).
I would definitely go back here, in fact, we are hoping to get back next December!
Good things: Japanese restaurant was awesome for hibachi; the place was clean; the service was great; the drinks were almost too strong; the beds were comfortable.
Bad things: the other 3 restaurants were just okay; the room was very average; the view was aweful; there was just one pool, which was fine for us because we went when there weren’t a lot of people there, but if it was crowded, it would be bad; we never got a pool chair or “bed” because we didn’t want to wake up at 7:00 a.m. to put a towel there

Is the casino currently closed?4 answers
If so, do they have plans to reopen? What is the extent of construction at this hotel? And finally, what brands of beer and alcohol is included? Thanks
2 years, 29 months ago
Maryanne
The casino at has closed and there is no mention of reopening at this time. However, there are 6-12 casinos in walking distance. The construction is fairly extensive as the resort is changing hands, so to speak. Brands of beer and alcohol will generally be the local brands. For further details or a list, please contact the resort directly as this is always subject to change.
JeannieCC
yes
tanseeker
The casino was actually open, but I believe they had only slot machines and no gaming tables.

Does this include meals and drinks2 answers
2 years, 29 months ago
New Jersey
Barcelo Aruba is all inclusive and does include meals and drinks. However, some dining restrictions may apply, please speak with the front desk for further details on this.
JeannieCC
Unfortunately yes it does. Food was awful and we are not picky eaters. The pool bar drinks were not good at all. Cold instant mashed potatoes on the breakfast buffet...not my breakfast of champions.

How long has it been open? Is there a concierge club? Are top shelf accohols served?2 answers
2 years, 28 months ago
USA
The Barcelo is a newly named branch as part of the Occidental Grand, which has been around for some time. The Occidental Grand has a concierge level room category. Alcohol served would include local as well as premium/international brands.
CCGreg
I don't know how long it has been open. I don't know what a concierge club is. I don't know what is meant by "top shelf alcohols".
wdkoff
The all inclusive swim up bar and lounge seemed to have watered down alcoholic beverages. Very weak.
ladydi456

Sun ratings1 answer
How can you have 4 suns with no customer comments or reviews on the property? How is that rating done, whats it based on and by whom?
2 years, 25 months ago
USA
This is just a renamed hotel. It used to be Occidental Aruba. Occidental has merged with Barcelo, therefore the rating has just carried over from before. In general the sun system is a balance of our rating for it, with consideration of other hotels in the area, mixed with customer feedback.
CCGreg
I have no idea.

Why am I showing full price for kids under 2?1 answer
1 year, 24 months ago
Evabelle
Our website often takes the total reservation price and divides this into a per person based on total number of people on the reservation, regardless of which person is being charged which amount. So if two adults are being charged one amount, and the two0 children a different amount, it will add those totals together and divide by the total (4) people on the reservation. For further assistance with pricing, please call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our beach experts.
JeannieCC
I have no clue what you are talking about. Sorry.
