Great place to go for the price

went there a week ago and it was everything we expected for an all inclusive resort. beach is beautiful. rooms were clean and comfortable, food had plenty of options for everyone, staff is very accommodating, but that's not why we went there. it was a relaxing week in the sun and I am already planning on going back in December with the family. I highly recommend this resort if you're looking to get away at a good price. don't hesitate,, Book it !!

5 star service with a Motel 6 room

Our last day here at Starfish Jolly Beach and we have been here 1/12-1/19/19. Pros: Beach and color of water probably the most beautiful of 5 islands we have stayed. Service from the extremely friendly people are nicest we’ve ever experienced at any resort. They truly go out of their way and never a grimace or a dirty dish on your table! Entertainient is fun because the employees want you to have a good time. The patrons are a mixture of different cultures, mainly Canadian and British, and the Italians have their own club and part of resort called Veraclub. Americans are a minority but we didn’t mind and actually loved meeting and talking with everyone. All of the employees speak English but they speak a broken English dialect between themselves (that you can’t understand). There are usually enough beach chairs and huts so you don’t have to fight over them. Most rooms have a fabulous beach view that makes up for the room. Cons: THE ROOM’S SUB PAR. So, if you want a great room, this isn’t the place for you. Our room (Grenada block #1004) is on the far end so it’s quiet but besides that, you feel like you’re in Bedrock as the Flinstones. The mattress is hard and thin, ALL of the furniture is made out of concrete with a stucco coating, and there is a wall AC unit that only has a remote control that only blows one temperature and that’s FREEZING. The odd thing about these “standard” sized rooms is the bathrooms are NOT air conditioned and are separated by a door as you come into the room, making the bathroom humid. You can’t cool it off because there is an exterior block wall with holes in it that are covered with a screen. The bathroom is super outdated but the worst part of our room was there was only lukewarm water the hole week and no hot water. (Another guest that was staying here told me that he only had scorching hot water the whole week, so they obviously have a temp control issue.) Mosquitoes were daily, I’ve received a new bite everyday even with the coil repellant wristbands and spray. I recommend using Deet products since my natural repellants didn’t do well enough. Food was ok, but nothing like the other resorts we’ve eaten at. Lydia’s and Margaritas were good. The Italian restaurant is a buffet and there wasn’t any Italian food on it, so that was disappointing. Overall: So, now that our stay is coming to an end, would we come again? Yes! For the value and considering this trip cost us almost half of our other all inclusives to Aruba, St. Marten and Curaçao, we would come again. For the value, I think it’s a deal. Make sure you bring: single dollar bills for bus strips to town and tipping if you desire, Deet repellant, a Yeti cup or similar since they only serve you in 8 oz cups, and more $ for buying bottled water at the grocery store right outside of the resort (water at resort is safe to drink but tastes at times, heavily chlorinated and they use de-salinated water).

Stunning views and good service

We loved Starfish Jolly Beach. The view and sunsets!! Gorgeous beach, with soft sand and warm gentle turquoise water for swimming! You can do lots of sports, which are included. The water was too churned up for snorkeling there though. There is plenty to do nearby. You can walk to a nice harbor/marina with cute shops. Tours are available which are very good. Antigua seems safer than some other Caribbean islands. People were nice everywhere we went. Food is more than ample and very good. The buffet is amazing. My favorite part was the "Good Morning Song", which the staff sang every morning. You can opt to eat at one of the three restaurants instead, however the system for booking meals at the restaurants was very annoying. The staff are wonderful. They hire plenty of help, and everyone went out of their way to help us. The hotel itself is older and had a few issues here and there. Water pressure at some times wasn't good, and the only U.S.type outlet was under the air conditioner. Unfortunately the AC leaked condensation onto my iphone, which was on the night table underneath, and ruined it. But we had a great time and would recommend the place, as long as you are not expecting 5 star accommodations. Just go!

Rundown property but awesome beach and hotel staff

We have been to the resort 3 times. This time we had a standard room. It was a tiny room with 2 twin beds pushed up against each other. There was no drawers to put clothing in just a couple of holes and the closet to be shared by two people. Most of my clothes remained in the suitcase My husband and I could not pass each other in the room because it was so small.I asked to buy an upgrade but was told none was available. The resort is very old and this room had no updates. We were there for 2 weeks and because my husband has knee problems, quit a bit was spent in the room. I would recommend this resort only to those who do not intend to spend much time in the room or suggest they buy only superior accomondations. We had a much better room in years past so if I cannot get superior rooms in the future, I will not book this resort. The staff, for the most part, were gracious and kind. The food was pretty good most of the time. The Italian restaurant was closed for repairs so the choices were the buffet, Mexican or Seafood restaurant. One of the pools was closed for resurfacing during our visit.
