Good experience

The food options was my favorite part. Every day they had different options. However, I wish they included more typical Dominican dishes. The beach was full of seaweed and I know this isn’t the resort’s fault as they did make some efforts to clean it up but still, it was disappointing that I couldn’t enjoy the beach waters as much as I would’ve liked

Honest Review

When checking into the hotel, Juan Jose (the receptionist) was the nicest person that we met. He was very kind and nice. The staff works very hard to keep the resort clean which means that you won't see any trash lying around. Most of the staff doesn't speak English, but it's not too bad. The room we stayed in was in building 1 which was recently renovated and it was clean and organized. The restaurants there were okay. There is the Italian restaurant(requires you to wear long pants), the Mexican restaurant, and the buffet. The Italian restaurant's food was decent. The seafood in the seafood pasta wasn't fresh so that was a bummer. The Mexican restaurant, in my opinion, was better than the Italian. You get to pick an appetizer and a main entree. The crab wrap(appetizer) wasn't real crab and the salmon wrap(also appetizer) was made with raw salmon. The main entrees portions were kind of large which was nice. The go to place was the buffet, only because they changed the food everyday and most of it tasted pretty good. When you go to the buffet in the morning, they have a chef making eggs and fresh juices(papayas, bananas, and watermelons). There are three dining areas in the buffet: area 1 is for people who smoke while area 2&3 are for non smokers. In each dining area off to the side are the drinks. They have water, coffee, juices(mango, orange, and pineapple), soda(their own version of soda), beer, and wine. Near the pool and on to the side of the Mexican restaurant, is a place that serves pizza, burgers, and fries (all tasted good) and only operates during lunch hours. There is also the beach bar which serves alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages such as pina coladas, which I loved drinking. The pool was large and clean. The beach had soft white sand. The water was somewhat clear. the only downside was that there was a lot of sea weed in the water, but it's not the hotel's fault(as no one can stop nature). the hotel does clean the beaches every morning so that was a good thing. The staff works really hard and it's good to tip the people working there. If you are going on any excursions, be sure to bring extra money to tip people. I highly recommend going to Saona Island on your trip because it is a beautiful place. Overall, I would give the hotel a 4 star rating. There's not much activities to do at the resort, but it is a very clean, organized, and a relaxing place to have your vacation.

Could be better...

We spent 7 days at the Vik Arena Blanca Hotel, to be honest we expected more from an All Inclusive Resort. The employees share the tips and I believe this brings the lack of willingness to serve the customer. We are Brazilians and have often been left aside so that other nationalities could be met first. The rooms are clean and the food is good. Little variety of snaks in the pool area. People smoke everywhere, I think that's a lack of respect! The animation team is great and the tours were very good.

Just OK

First impression of hotel lobby and room was not impressive. Check in was ok however, we were only provided information to get to our building. We were not informed where the dining options were available or where to find information about different activities going on around the resort. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was provided daily with new towels. Outdated safe was available for fee per day. Stocked mini fridge only had 2 waters and were not included as was stated on the website. Not aware you could not use water for brushing teeth etc. so we had to make sure we took a cup of water with us the night before so we could brush our teeth. Not aware of any planned activities, however, there were some things going on because we would hear it at night. It would have been nice to know what was going on during our stay. Beach was ok, sea grass was an issue. I know it’s not the resorts fault but it didn’t appear to be cleaned up on a daily basis. Pool was dated but usable. However, people try to sell you excursions or get you to see the VIP resort and buy a membership. They did leave you alone if you said no but if they haven’t seen you before they were asking. Also had people near pool and walkways to buildings to get you to buy things. We ended up finding new ways to go to avoid these. Staff at the restaurants and buffet were great! Food at the seafood restaurant was good. Did not enjoy the Italian restaurant, but that could be just us. Buffet was hit and miss. We made the best of the resort. It was clean. However we would not go back or recommend friends stay at this resort.

Hotel Description

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Slip Beneath the Stress

Feeling drained? That's your body telling you it's time to recharge! No fuel is better than the sun, sand and sea at the VIK Hotel Arena Blanca. Located in tropical Punta Cana, the beachfront resort is a gem. The exquisite spa, gorgeous pools and nearly 24-hour entertainment for honeymooners ad families are just the start to a care-free experience in paradise.

The ivory shores of Bavaro Beach beckon sunbathers while snorkelers and scuba divers find bliss off shore. What's more, the resort offers non-motorized water activities free of charge. Skim over the waves on a complimentary catamaran excursion, or head to the resort's pool for a game of water polo. If you'd rather just relax and bask in the island atmosphere, though, the resort also provides loungers, palapas and towels for you to do just that. A refreshing beverage from the beachside Bucanero Bar tops off a perfectly beachy afternoon.

When dinnertime rolls around, check out El Mirador to sample the theme-based evening menu this buffet has in store. If you want Caribbean-style meals, La Proa serves up meat and seafood dishes with signature Island flair. In the mood for Italian? Don your best "smart casual" ensemble and make an appearance at La Trattoria for pasta dishes served a la carte. On Fridays, the decision is easy. Head straight for El Cano, where guests enjoy a fun seaside barbecue under the stars.

After dinner, the party keeps going at Calipso Bar until 5am. If the night's still young, though, the Fun Pub is the best spot to get groovin'. Then, if you feel like you're on a roll, venture to the Towers Casino to see how Lady Luck treats you.

If gambling is a step too close to the wild side for you, get a good night's rest instead, and prepare for the relaxation experience of your life at Etra Spa. From private parlors for couples massages to a full-service hair salon, the resort's on-site spa pampers you until the cares of ordinary life become distant memories.
