The beach is beautiful.. staff is nice.. but the people who work at the resort are rentless trying to sell you excursions or cheap jewelry or cigars the whole entire trip they would not stop.. during check in I got approached by 5 different people to trying to sell me something.. It got to the point where it was way 2 much and was annoyed to the point where I'll never go back to the hotel..

I had a fab times there at VIK as always, this is my 5th trip to this resort, everyone there very helpful and nice as they possible can (language barrier that never bother me if they do not understand my request) at the end the driver of Amstar left w/o me on his bus even he saw me at check out claim that I was late?!, the day before I was informed by the staff of this transportation company at the resort that I have to be at the Lobby 12:45pm, however the front desk later on told me it should be 12:30pm, I ended up took taxi to the Airport that cost me $40 due to no fault of mine to begin with. so this is the bump that I have this time, this would never stop me using your website for my next vacation :) thanks

Rude service

The staff at this resort is so incredibly rude it ruined our trip. We had low expectations for this resort as a low cost option and are pretty flexible about poor accommodations. I didn't anticipate the staff would be so unfriendly and flat out mean the entire duration of our stay. We went off site every evening to try to salvage our trip. Mike flat out ignored us and walked away from us when we asked him for help with our leaking room. The front desk staff stared at us blankly whenever we asked a question or needed something, like a working room key and even though we tipped every time, the bartenders seemed to be bothered by our request for a drink. The only exception was Pedro at the pool bar who was friendly and didn't seem angry at us wanting to order a drink. I hope he goes elsewhere, he deserves better. The food was awful, dry, mass produced mayonnaise topped slop. We survived off steamed veggies and soup broth until we left for paid dinners each evening. To end our trip I woke up to the largest cockroach I've ever seen in my life sitting right next to the toilet in our bathroom. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Stay literally anywhere else.

Pleasantly pleased

VIK was great. Not a huge place and it did not seem booked up. The second time we have visited Punta Cana and this beach was fantastic. Almost no seaweed, the water and wide flat sand were the best I've seen; even compared to Playa Del Carmen Mexico where we go annually. Lots of palapas so we were always able to find some shade. The grounds were well maintained and landscaped nicely. The people are very friendly, helpful and hard working. Lots of vendors available if you want to book activities, but they were friendly and not annoying. Lots to do and never very loud, a pretty peaceful laid-back resort. The room was nice. We expected twin beds but were given a king. The food was better than average, lots to chose from and changed daily. Lots of mixed drink varieties, they even had self-serve beer, wines and juices on tap at the lunch and dinner buffet. We only ate at the buffet because we don't bring lots of clothes for beach vacations. The a la carte restaurants always looked empty. I would definitely go back!

Hotel Description

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Slip Beneath the Stress

Feeling drained? That's your body telling you it's time to recharge! No fuel is better than the sun, sand and sea at the VIK Hotel Arena Blanca. Located in tropical Punta Cana, the beachfront resort is a gem. The exquisite spa, gorgeous pools and nearly 24-hour entertainment for honeymooners ad families are just the start to a care-free experience in paradise.

The ivory shores of Bavaro Beach beckon sunbathers while snorkelers and scuba divers find bliss off shore. What's more, the resort offers non-motorized water activities free of charge. Skim over the waves on a complimentary catamaran excursion, or head to the resort's pool for a game of water polo. If you'd rather just relax and bask in the island atmosphere, though, the resort also provides loungers, palapas and towels for you to do just that. A refreshing beverage from the beachside Bucanero Bar tops off a perfectly beachy afternoon.

When dinnertime rolls around, check out El Mirador to sample the theme-based evening menu this buffet has in store. If you want Caribbean-style meals, La Proa serves up meat and seafood dishes with signature Island flair. In the mood for Italian? Don your best "smart casual" ensemble and make an appearance at La Trattoria for pasta dishes served a la carte. On Fridays, the decision is easy. Head straight for El Cano, where guests enjoy a fun seaside barbecue under the stars.

After dinner, the party keeps going at Calipso Bar until 5am. If the night's still young, though, the Fun Pub is the best spot to get groovin'. Then, if you feel like you're on a roll, venture to the Towers Casino to see how Lady Luck treats you.

If gambling is a step too close to the wild side for you, get a good night's rest instead, and prepare for the relaxation experience of your life at Etra Spa. From private parlors for couples massages to a full-service hair salon, the resort's on-site spa pampers you until the cares of ordinary life become distant memories.
