VERY NICE RESORT

WE SPENT 10 NIGHTS AT THIS RESORT. LETS START OFF WITH THE STAFF FIRST. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL OVER THE WHOLE RESORT INCLUDING HOUSEKEEPING. THE ENTERTAINMENT STAFF WAS ALWAYS MINGLING WITH THE GUESTS. THE GROUNDS WERE ALWAYS BEING WORKED ON AND KEPT LOOKING VERY NICE. WE WERE IN BUILDING 12 WHICH WAS CLOSE TO THE BEACH, OUR FAVORITE SPOT AND MAIN REASON FOR GOING TO THE ISLAND. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD OVERALL. THE DRINKS WERE MADE TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS. THERE WAS VERY FEW UNFRIENDLY STAFF IN THE WHOLE RESORT. EVEN THE VENDORS ON THE BEACH WERE NOT TO PUSHY OR RUDE. KEEP IN MIND, THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING. WE HAD DONE A LOT OF SNORKELING AND THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL IN POINT OUT WERE THE BEST SPOTS ON THE BEACH WERE. THE BEACH IS VERY NICE. THERE IS AN OLD REEF WAY OUT FROM THE BEACH TO BREAK UP THE WAVES BEFORE THEY HIT THE SWIMMING AREA. WE WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK. THE BUFFET ALWAYS HAD SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE TO EAT.

Sunscape Is good for 4-5 days!

I would give this a 8 out of 10. I was not sure about Sunscape when we first booked but after reading some checking out some reviews we gave it a shot. It is perfectly ok for the money. No, it is not a luxury hotel, don't expect top shelf everything. We found their entertainment was geared toward French-speaking the week we were there. We liked their lounge singers in the lobby even better. That was ok, all the internationals seemed to get along fine. The food and drink are very acceptable for about 4-5 days. After that, it gets repetitive.Specialty restaurants were first come first serve and not as formal as some resorts can be. The food was good, not excellent. Even though the resort was full, it did not seem crowded. We ordered a king-sized bed and they said they only have 20% of the rooms with king-sized beds in the entire resort and our reservation level did not have any, even though it showed it advertised. They slid two queens together. Not ideal, but it was ok. The exterior balcony to have coffee on in the morning made up for it! It was great! Spa was really good and we had a couples massage for a great price one afternoon. Highly recommended. We found the resort to be very clean where we were. They did an excellent job with maintenance and upkeep. Very little bugs or anything else. We were pleased to see this. Staff is friendly and helpful, but will not be fake just to kiss butt for a tip.

First time....Not too shabby

My first stay booking with cheap Caribbean and first time out of country. The Dominican Republic is beautiful. The people are amazing and sunscape was great. Food selection is just okay. The workers did the best with what they had. Only thing I hated was the constant selling from the vendors on the beach. I couldn't even enjoy sitting on the beach due to the non stop look at what I have and do want this. I do understand they have to make a living and this is their way of doing it, but i'm talking about in a span of 5 mins I had 15 different vendors selling the same 3 types of items come and ask me if I wanted to buy. No thank you I am trying to relax. Other than that I can't really complain. Resort was clean. There were ants and tree roaches around the resort, but that's of no fault to the resort. Liquor was great, food was meh, but the location was excellent. Would stay again, but would eat in town with the locals.

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while you nosh on frosty welcome treats.

Stress-busting spa with a delicious menu of pampering, you-spoiling treatments.

The golden sands of Playa Dorada that are calling your name.

Tons of activities for the kiddos, which means more chillaxin' time for you.

The Teleferico Cable Car - the only funicular in the Caribbean.

What We'd Change

A la carte dining can fill up at night, so you might have to wait a bit. Good thing you can grab a cocktail or two while you wait to be served.
