Save your time and money

The room looked and felt as 50 years old. 99% of the clients are Spanish speaking. Constant load parties in the rooms after 11PM. We were afraid for our lives. I need to call a few times to fix the issues or get help. The housekeeping never had towels. The pools were overcrowded. It is very hard to get in and out from the water on the beach for not fit people. A lot of jellyfish. The beach was empty, it was the most pleasant thing staying in this resort. The bar selection was awful, mostly local spirits, 1 type of Panama beer and wine. Food was good for people who want to lose weight.

Decameron Review

I recommend this resort for those who like to lay on the beach or poolside. Plenty of both. Resort is very long and built on large hills/cliffs so lots of walking and up/down stairs. Long walk to breakfast & lunch held in 2 buffets. Make reservations for dinner at the specialty restaurants which have better quality of food and preparation. You can have breakfast/lunch at one of these for an added fee. Many bars and those by lobby 1 were well managed. I do recommend more coffee available to guests before these bars open with the espresso makers. The one negative I will give is the fact the beaches did contain many washed up jelly fish each morning and kept me from doing any snorkeling. Yellow and red flags each day. The positives include the grounds are well maintained; desk, restaurant and bar service was very good. Pool by our room was also well maintained and mostly adults used this one although not an adult only pool. Overall this was a good value for us.

Worst all inclusive trip ever

I have made multiple trips to numerous all-inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and the Dominican Republic. This was the first trip to a Decameron's Panama resort, and it will be the last. It was a long haul from Panama City after a long flight. The food was edible but nothing more. The birds were terrible in the buffet restaurants. The support staff was average. The room immunities were terrible. Nothing in the fridge except a water 4 of the seven days. There was no lotion, conditioner, hand towels or washcloths provided. The drinks were very basic with cheap alcohol, wine and beer provided. The pools were nice and clean but the beach was nothing special. The grounds were clean and well kept which was the only good thing about this resort. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking to spend a precious week of vacation.

Poor quality of restaurants ruins everything else

The overall poor quality, lack of variety, poor presentation of food in all of the restaurants at the resort distracted from the well manicured grounds and the pool areas. There are no sit down restaurants for breakfast which means you start every morning with the poor/limited quality of the breakfast buffet. The “Ometet station” was basically a woman pouring scrambled eggs onto a grill and adding chosen vegetables, plating a poor quality. Variety lacked, with limited Panamanian breakfast items. (Bollos, tostones, chorizo). Poor quality rice dishes were available at every meal. Juices, fruits and the pan were the best part of each meal each day. Lunch buffet was more of the same. Having been to 5 other resorts in Caribbean area and 9 visits to Panama I had quality experiences to draw from. Each night I was sitting with a friend who is a chef and a friend who had traveled with me. El Canal , local cuisine, was of the poorest quality. Ex: Cocunut shrimp with no/little coconut with presentation for them to be stuck into a pile of mashed potatoes. Mixto seafood, poor. Had far greater quality of this dish in other places throughout the country, no comparison. Mexican restaurant poor. Japanese restaurant was more of the same beef we had seen in each of the other restaurants with ever changing seasoning: Teriyaki sauce, Japanese Teriyaki steak; Salsa, Panamanian cuisine; more of the same served in the Mexican restaurant. We could not find one restaurant that served quality meals with quality service that would be expected from a resort trying to attract international tourists. We all agreed we would never return to the resort which is a shame when the grounds crews work so hard to attain beauty throughout the resorts and pool areas as well as beach areas. Rooms are typical of Panama, which is expected and accepted having travelled throughout the country. The old curtains that had dirt and mildew need to be replaced. Light switches had dirt encircling them. A few facelifts in the rooms and all new management in the restaurants, with complete changes could make this resort worth going to, until then don’t go if your an international tourist. You will be disappointed.
