I want to go back!

After a long day of delayed flights and missed connections due to bad weather, I was not in a very vacation like mood. But that changed upon stepping foot into the resort. It was beautiful, clean and the really friendly front desk lady had us checked in and ready to go within a couple of minutes. Pros: I have traveled pretty extensively and this is definitely the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at. You will not find garbage anywhere, no sticky floors, no cups/food left by the pool. It is immaculate. The staff is so friendly! Everyone we encountered- waitstaff, cooks, front desk, housekeeping, bartenders- were so nice! Always making conversation with the kids, trying to teach the baby Spanish, greeting us with a smile. I cannot say enough about the politeness of all the employees. The food! YUM! I read several reviews before we went and there seemed to be quite a bit of griping about bland food and crummy selection but that is not accurate in the least. I was traveling with some picky eaters and no one went hungry. The shorts I wore on day 1 were very tight by day 5. The buffet selection is out of this world- so. much. food. The steakhouse had the best salmon I've ever had, and I'm really picky when it comes to salmon. Also, when we were at the steakhouse, this really friendly cat wandered in, which delighted our kids. The beach is gorgeous with nice soft sand and the pool was perfect temperature and never crowded. There were a couple staffers working at the pool that teach dancing or Spanish or get people playing water polo or volleyball. It was a blast. Or you can just relax at the infinity end of the pool with a drink. The spa is incredible! Get a massage! We booked the couples massage and got to sit in the jacuzzi for 30 minutes beforehand to relax. Then we went down to the beach to a cabana to get the most amazing, relaxing massage of my life. When we were done, they had a bottle of champagne waiting for us. The water park next door is so cool! The adults and teen loved the regular water park and the baby loved the kiddie waterpark. Coldest water I ever felt but it was so fun! Cons: The alcohol. I am a fan of cheap wine but their wine was awful tasting. No big deal, I figured, I love Corona and I'm in Mexico so I should be set. But they don't serve Corona! Only Dos Equis and Tecate, which was really disappointing. Luckily, there is a walmart a 15 minute (safe) walk away so we went and stocked up there (beer is so cheap!) and I was set for the whole trip. As far as the hard liquor, I don't drink it but my husband loved the margaritas and mojitos. That's the only con I can think of. I cannot emphasize enough the beauty of this resort. We woke up the first day and stepped onto our balcony and saw whales in the distance! We are already planning our next trip to Riu Palace for next January.

I want to go back! I want to go back!

Overall it was a great experience. The waiters were excellent. If you stayed at the Riu Palace then you had a chance to go to activities on the Riu Santa Fe like foam parties, etc. However it took over an hour and a half to get face towels when We called room service. Also they called my room late when I asked for a wake up call. The menu for room service was very limited since they only offered continental breakfast. Despite all of that, we had a great time.

We had a great trip. Everything was great except you had my wife's name wrong. I don't know where you came up with that name.

First Time Purchase

Wonderful vacation! Wonderful property! Would definitely go back! We came down in early January. Nice change from the bitter cold. The weather was good the whole time we were there. The only advice I have is to bring lots of ones if you choose to bring American money. Very hard to get change when you don't need to buy anything but you still want to tip!

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Blue sparkling pools with dynamo ocean views. Pic opp moments, for sure.

Within walking distance to Cabo's El Medano Beach - you can swim, jet ski or bar hop along the shores.

Swoon-worthy views from your balcony - ocean or resort, either way - it's stunning.

Freshly made guacamole for your morning, afternoon, or late night snack. It's delish.

Resort is geared for families and mature adults - not your rowdy spring break revelers.

The Entertainment Team keeps things lively and when you want to let loose, Pacha disco is open at night.

Staying in your room and dining with 24-hour room service. Because you're a rock star.

What We'd Change

The beach out front isn't swimmable - the undercurrent is strong, but you can the pool is gorgeous and has the best ocean view.

Why You Should Go

Perfect location in Cabo - a short trip from the airport to the resort and close to Cabo's nightlife.

Riu's commitment to top notch service will win you over the moment your flip flops hit the resort.

Whale watching is epic here. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Stay sporty - tennis, volleyball, ping pong are included, and for a fee, ride horses on the beach.

See the famous El Arco (meaning "Land's End") from the resort. (Go there and take a Selfie).

RiuLand keeps the kiddos entertained. And, you? Book time in the spa. You deserve it.
