One week stay

I read a bunch of reviews for this resort after my initial booking. Many were unsatisfied with the stay, but I thought this resort was nice and I had a lot of fun with very few things to be dissatisfied by. -The hotel caters to Latin American and South American guests. There were also Canadian guests. Not many people from the USA. -English is not the primary language spoken. Some workers speak no English, some speak a little, and few are fluent. I was able to get by on my basic Spanish knowledge (three semesters worth taken 5-8 years ago). -The beach is terrible. The salt water pool is awesome. The beach had a red flag warning every single day, there was low tide, and jelly fish. The salt water pool was the saving grace of this resort. The regular pools were ok (a bit dirty especially at the end of the day). -I stayed in the “luxury suite in Town Center”. I think this is the newer rooms. We had zero issues with our room except that our forth floor balcony didn’t lock. We had an ocean view. **this room is best for couples and not friends. The bathroom is en-suite style with 0 privacy. Only glass doors into toilet and shower room. -Food: buffet and 4 restaurants. I enjoyed the buffet and the restaurants. Seafood restaurant on the beach was the best. You have to show up at 10am each day in the lobby if you want a dinner reservation rather than buffet. It was an inconvenience. -Bars: will literally give you as much liquor as you want. Yes, you can order 10 beers for yourself in on sitting. Tips get you served quicker when it gets busy. -Service is really slow. Especially at the restaurants. It’s island lifestyle. -Activities: not enough. During the day it was ok cause everybody swam, in the evenings you could see one repeating show or dance. There was a casino advertised but it no longer exists. All togheher I had a good time. I would recommend renting a car so you can visit the area. Staying for a whole week seems like too much if you can’t leave unless you are only looking to relax. I did not see any excursions for sale and used google to figure out my own to drive to. No problems with the internet here either and I had cell phone coverage the whole time.

Great Resort

The place was very nice. Small hiccup with our room upon arrival but the Manager Ceasar provided the greatest customer service and got our room situation all fixed. His determination and willingness to assist us and provide a great experience for us was awesome and greatly appreciated. The hosptiality at the resort from the staff was very pleasing and enjoyable.

Excellent beach & weather... dining not so much

We just came back from a five night stay at Playa Blanca with my husband. We desperately needed a quick break. The weather, ocean and beach were excellent 89 degrees every day!!! Loved it. The rooms were clean, accommodations average. Someone came in to clean up our room every single day- we appreciated that. The dining—-that could definitely use some improvement. Basically only one restaurant was working daily-the buffet. When that was closed-one snack place was open. The choices in the buffet were pretty basic, rice and beans every day, different steamed vegetables and one meat dish, plus fish. If you wanted the seafood experience or Italian you had to go to the lobby exactly at 10 and sign up, otherwise you could only go to the buffet once again. We didn’t make it in time, once or twice and another time the one we wanted was full. Compared to the other places where we’ve stayed with cheapcarribean.... this one was rather limited in dining options, a bit of a disappointment on that front. Otherwise we had a great time and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Most people vacationing there were from central and South America with their families and children there, since the kids have summer vacation right now, in January. Also, you might want to brush up on your Spanish, here, almost no one speaks English!!!

We went for Xmass and New Years, family of 8 with 2 small kids.I read some latest reviews before going and was prepared for the disaster holidays but was pleasantly surprised. For us, in the end, resort had more pluses then minuses and you can't beat the price. Resort mostly caters to South Americans so there is not much service in general to start with and if you do not speak at least some Spanish may not be at all. Very few of the staff will understand your request for milk in the cafeteria but tipping can help to overcome language barrier. We stayed in Town Center area in condos with all inclusive package and condos were ok. Not great not horrible just heavily used. Both condos were in need of some renovation but a view from balcony was fantastic. Beach was almost empty even on holidays and you need water shoes!!! Every afternoon sting rays came to feed near by so people got bitten few times and lifeguards closed swimming for few hours every day. Main pool was disgusting and overcrowded but we did not use it at all. We went to Lagoon pool in the afternoon and always found place for all of us. Food in restaurant was great. Great soups every day. Good Xmass and New Years buffet. You have to work out lines though. We usually came early mornings, early for lunch and dinner and never waited more than 5-10 min to be sited. And most importantly for me nobody got stomach virus and we ate and drink everything. We still have to buy bottled water in the convenience store for $2.50 per 1 liter since they provided bottled water only as welcome gift for fit night however tap water is available all over resort. Another minus that my younger son got eye infection probably from the kids pool
