Do It Again

The short answer? We’d do it again in a heartbeat! The longer answer is there was nothing I perceive as a negative, other than my wife and I didn’t have more time to spend there. We were there just after Spring Breaks were mostly over, but before the “rainy season”. Good hotel restaurants? ✅ (My wife usually disdains them—not these!) Clean pool & beach? ✅ Quality pool & beach food/drink service. ✅ Location? Great! 5 minute ride from the airport. Easy to catch the bus or get a taxi. 10-20 minutes ride to the Malecon. Walkable to Marina, it’s shops, and restaurants. Can watch or engage in sporting activities from beach. Can sign up for tours and such in lobby or by the pool Timely housekeeping service. ✅ Helpful & friendly concierge personnel. ✅ Friendly and helpful hotel personnel inside and out. ✅ Beautiful sunset views if your balcony faces West. (Ours did!). ✅ Do it again. ✅!!

Family Vacation

The Marriot is a very beautiful resort just a few miles from the airport. It is north of the downtown area. The hotel staff were very welcoming and courteous. The grounds of the resort are well groomed and landscaping was beautiful. The pool area was clean and large enough to accommodate everyone. The prices (food and beverage) were less then what you would spend in the US, but you could spend less if you left the resort. Taxis to the downtown area were 130 pesos or about $6.00. I would recommend taking out the bikes and touring the neighborhood. There is an amazing mosaic tile wall along the golf course. The hotel is also within walking distance to the Marina where there are several restaurants. The beach was nice, but the water was cold. Not many people swimming in the ocean (March). The room was a bit small for a family of four, but we were not there often. I would have liked to see more hooks in the bathroom to hang wet swimsuits and clothing. There is a $15.00 a day resort fee that was unexpected, but with it you got 2 free drinks and use of paddle boards, kayaks and bikes. Bring pesos with you (you can get them at your bank) and you will spend a lot less then using the US dollar. Everywhere we went the US dollar was accepted. Overall, we had a great vacation and would recommend the Marriot to friends and family.

Spring Break 2017

We loved the CasaMagna Marriott. It was a step up for us compared to our typical vacation destinations, so it was met with a lot of positive comments from my family of four when we arrived. The restaurants were great but a little expensive, especially given the current favorable exchange rate. However, we took the bus system often to other locales for meals, which were typically much less expensive. The Farmer's Market on Thursdays was only a 10-minute walk and very fun, with lots of restaurant options there at the Marina. Fun to see my teenagers negotiate prices for the first time with their own money! As far as the Marriott, we liked being able to charge to the room for all meals, beverages, and even market/deli purchases. Our invoice at the end of the visit contained no errors. We liked the flooring in the room, it appeared to be marble throughout the room and was gorgeous. We especially liked the porch, since we had an Oceanview room and could look out on the ocean from there at any time, and we could even hear the waves as we went to sleep at night with the door closed. I wish they didn't charge for small things like coffee in the room - many hotels we stay in do not, and I was surprised to see this at a Marriott. The vendors on the beach were a constant nuisance though - not sure what could be done about it, but we were there to relax and not continuously engage with strangers selling trinkets. Overall, we loved the hotel and would consider returning if we can afford it.

What's to Love

We highly recommend Ohtli, the resort's full-service spa. It offers everything from Pilates to traditional Mayan body treatments to recharge after a day of fun.

What We'd Change

The beach at Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is a little small. However, the amazing infinity pool more than makes up for it.

Hotel Description

Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa: Relax Into Luxury

A haven for couples and families, diverse offerings at this resort on El Salado Beach a wonderful getaway for just about anyone. Chief among those offerings is the state-of-the-art Ohtli Spa, where guests can choose from a variety of hydrotherapies, massages, body scrubs and more in a facility that's more than 22,000 sq ft. And that's just the beginning.

At the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, kids and toddlers get their own pools, which are surrounded by lounge chairs and umbrellas for parents. The family pool has a unique rock-garden island and a sunset-view infinity edge, plus a whirlpool. For sand in your flip-flops, walk out to El Salado Beach, where you can kick back in the complimentary lounge chairs, and enjoy views of aquamarine-colored water and white sand.

When you've worked up an appetite, it's time for a casual lunch at the open-air restaurant Las Casitas. Or, check out burgers, fries and wings at Champions Sports Bar. If you want a more elegant experience, Mikado serves Japanese and Thai dishes in a refined and soothing ambiance. For evening entertainment, the Lobby Bar can hook you up with cocktails and Mexican-style tapas, fine tequila and live music.

Another standout feature of this resort is the Marriott Kids Club. While parents enjoy quality time together, kids ages 4-12 can hang out and join in supervised activities. Local craftsmen teach them how to paint barro-clay pottery, and if the climate and season are just right, kids might even get to participate in the Sea Turtle Rescue Program by attending a baby turtle release ceremony!

After a day of Caribbean bliss, retreat to the comfort of Marriott signature bedding, featuring plush mattresses, soft sheets and a luxurious abundance of pillows. If you're not quite ready for bed, a broad walkway lined with shops, bars and restaurants is only 216 yd (200 m) away!
