Big Time Resort

This trip is number six to Jamaica. This was a family get together not a couple retreat like Melia Village up the road. This is the largest resort in Jamaica which I did not know at booking. I purchased three room for six of us. As a group this was more geared towards late night and partying. Most of our time was spend at the pool which had plenty of entertainment. The beach has a wall most of the length with a sandy beach (60 Feet) with huts for sun protection. There is a rock break water about 100 yard from the shore line. The water depth is deepest near the rocks at only about three feet. Rooms are clean and in good shape with good paint on the walls, electrics plumbing that work great and very good AC. The food at the restaurants were way above island standards. The buffet had a theme every night. The Jamaican night was a great start with lamb and fish and a great fried pies Jamaica is known for. The Brazilian restaurant had plenty of meats which were cooked perfect.to your desire cut at your table. . The drinks were strong, nothing watered down anywhere. Bottomline, this is a safe bet for first timers or old travelers.

Over all GREAT trip

First off... people really need to think about what a vacation really is. I read tons of reviews before booking this trip. Lots of people complaining about washcloths, dinner reservations, mini bar, food, etc. Now I do understand that is all part of the vacation... but a washcloth ruins your trip? Be serious. Over all resort was great. Was it the best food? No. If I want a really, really good steak I go to a steakhouse. Have realistic expectations and relax. It’s not going to be the best steak, burger, Chinese, Italian food you have ever ate. Bluntly the restaurants were all what I would call okay. Not great but not the worst. If you want to make your reservations early just emails the resort. They’ll take them a week before your arrival. Bars??? Okay. Not the best drinks but still very enjoyable. Save yourself some hassle and bring/get your own mugs. If you don’t everything will come in a little 8oz juice glass. Hint... bring them... what costs $2-3 in the states will cost you $20+ there. You can just leave them if you don’t want them. Speaking of that... bring everything you need and/or think you may need. Sunblock, Advil, everything. Expect a 400% markup if you forget. A small bag of pretzels was $8... no kidding. The duty free at the resort is a joke... buy at the airport when coming back. I know this sounds like a lot of complaining but it’s really just more advice than anything. All in all it was a great relaxing trip. Had a wonderful time and will go back for sure. Another hint... tipping may not be required but it goes a LONG ways... drinks come faster, more beers in the mini bar, etc. And really what’s a few bucks in the big picture? Don’t forget to ask for things either. We spent some time on the non adults only side... one of their swim up bars is much more laidback. Anyway because it’s over there they didn’t have top shelf liquor. I asked the bartender to get a bottle of whiskey... gave them $5 bucks.. they got it and held it their for me. As I said... tipping goes a long ways. So have realistic expectations, relax, tip, be prepared, and ask if you want something. They are on “Jamaican” time. Nothing is done quickly. But again... what’s your hurry? You are there to relax, enjoy the beach/pools, have some drinks, and have fun. So don’t let a washcloth ruin your trip. Have fun. You’re in Jamaica. Would you rather be at work?

Grateful Experience.. But better service

This was a great experience to spend time in Jamaica. The lifestyle was a learning experience. However, the customer service at the restaurants can improve.

One of the BEST resorts that I have ever visited.

Hands down one of the best resorts that I have visited. Especially in the Caribbean. The resort was clean and inviting. The personnel were very friendly, professional and eager to assist. There was always someone keeping things cleaned and picked up. A lot of attention to customer service and making sure that everyone was having a great time. The only hick up was that upon arrival, they had us staying in the wrong room. I requested a ocean view when I made my reservations and upgraded to the Luxury side of the property. They moved us to an ocean view room the next day after I had to pay another upgrade. We will definitely be returning to the Luxury Bahia in the future. Only the next time we will go for 10 days. That will give us 8 days to relax and play and 2 for travel.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive, all-fabulous Beach Bliss Fest.

The evening turn down service, bathrobe and slippers in the room & butler service.

Sipping cocktails, living large, on the private beach.

Getting one free hour of kayaking, paddle surfing, snorkeling & catamaraning.

What We'd Change

Parts of the beach are rocky, but if you bring some water shoes, you'll get to walk around and enjoy those parts of the beach, too.

Why You Should Go

It's 75 minutes from Mobay airport. Patience, young jellyfish. You'll be beaching soon.

Bring your water shoes - parts of the beach are a bit pebble-y.

Before your flight home, hit Club Mobay at the airport for A/C, drinks and lots of spoiling.

Bob Marley's home and the famous Dunn's River Falls are nearby and well worth a visit.
