Luxurious

The resort is secluded, luxurious, and beautiful. The buffet has all the choices you need and then some. The beaches are gorgeous, though rocky in some areas. The room was clean and maintained daily. The service is impeccable, and the pools are perfect. You won’t regret this purchase. Make sure you make it over to the public beach to catch the sunset!!

Birthday celebration

I went here for my friend’s 30th birthday. We had a great time. Seemed to be an older crowd (35+) and pretty relaxing. If you want to party this may not be the spot for you. If you want entertainment, good atmosphere and good time with friends then this would work, however. The room is very nice and the additional options (roses and scents) are great! My only critique is that the drinks were not as good as they could be. The bartenders should be trained on making drinks. At a minimum, there should be a condensed list of drinks that all bartenders know how to make and those should be the options for guests. My friend ordered a Malibu and pineapple and it was definitely not just Malibu rum. It seems different types of alcohol are mixed in and it’s really a shame. Nonetheless, go to Erickson at the beach bar and he will take care of you. Exceptional service! Up beat, friendly, and he knows his drinks! The food is pretty good, nothing to rave about but you will not go hungry. Overall it was a great vacation. The staff really made this trip a great one!

FANTASTIC PLACE... BUT...

Stunning location!!!! The island is a lush tropical paradise. Fantastic well run hotel. Amazing service. Staff was fabulous. Meals were very very good. Drinks top shelf. BUT ALL WAS NOT PERFECT!!!! Please read the following story but keep in mind, we loved the place so much we absolutely would consider going back. The island, the hotel, the service really is that fantastic. I am only telling this story in case someone else finds themselves in the same situation and to make clear how much we liked the place. My wife and I travel a lot so we have learned to do whatever is possible beforehand to minimize potential problems. I emailed Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado directly a week before our stay to confirm our reservation. Two days later I got a response saying they could not do that since it was booked through a third party and I would have to confirm my reservation through Cheap Carib. Their e-mail read, "Kindly note that all bookings made out of our call center or website have to be confirm with the travel agency you booked it. We would kindly like to ask you to put in contact with them in order to confirm your booking with us." As instructed, I did contact Cheap Carib and they confirmed all was well. On May 17th my wife and I traveled 9 hours, on 2 flights and a 2.5 hour private car ride from Santo Domingo, all also booked by the same travel company. We were aware of how long it would take us to get there but from everything we read, we thought LBPCL would be worth it (it absolutely was). We finally arrived at the check-in counter by the shuttle boat to the hotel. There were a few guys that deal with getting your luggage to the boat and one woman at a desk who does a pre-check-in that allows you on the shuttle boat to the island where the resort is located. The actual check-in is done in the hotel lobby on the island. We sat at the desk and I showed the woman all my paperwork including my conformation we were booked and paid in full. After 15 minutes of clicking on the computer, she said we had no reservation and would not be allowed to go to the island. The woman was very nice, polite and let me use their phone, since there was no cell signal or wifi in the reception area, though she told us there was nothing she could do. She offered us no solutions or options. Not the welcome to paradise we expected. The phone service was not good and I got cut off several times. At one point I was on hold for 35 minutes with Cheap Carrib without getting past the hold recording to an operator but I had to hang up because they needed their phone back to check someone else in. Trying to figure out options, I suggested booking and paying for a new reservation. She said there was vacancies but she could not book us there, I had to call the Bahia Principe reservation line. I borrowed their phone again. After I explained my situation, their reservations person kept saying they could not do it at the same price, but I repeatedly said I did not care about the price, I just wanted to get to the hotel. It hit me later, how would they know what price I paid if they could not find my reservation but at the time my only thought was, it does not matter what I pay now since I assumed this snafu would eventually be worked out. It took over 25 minutes to simply book and pay for a room on Bahia Principe's reservations line for the next few days but the catch was, they could not book me for that night because it was "inside of 24 hours". They said I had to book for 'tonight at the hotel'. $950 for 3 nights later, I finally got off the call but the woman there told me I still could not go over to the island because I had no reservation for that night. She said she could not book it either so I suggested calling the hotel directly. The front desk at the hotel informed me I had to call the reservation line to book and they could not help me. I had the woman call the hotel again and asked her to explain this circle I was trapped in. Eventually someone at the hotel helped me. This part took over 45 minutes, but finally I paid $350 more to get a reservation for that night. Over 2.5 hours after we arrived, we were allowed to wait for the next boat to go to the hotel. Once at the resort, everyone greeting us was fantastic. In the Lobby we were finally able to get through to Cheap Carrib and over a series of phone calls that took about 40 minutes the oporators and Cheap Carib worked out the details. They said the next day they would get things finalized and would work out getting me the refunds for the two new reservations I had just booked and prepaid. They said it would take about 5 days, as of my writing this 10 days later and the refunds have not yet posted to our card. It turns out the Bahia Principe reservations department had processed us for arriving on the 27th instead of the 17th. I have no clue why when checking us in, they could not just look under our name and discover that mistake. If they would have just looked a little or just simply confirmed our reservation beforehand, like I requested, all of this could have been avoided. The hotel at first blamed our travel company but if our flights and car were all booked on the correct date and my conformation from them was for the correct date, I find that very hard to believe. Once we got settled and rested in our room the rest of our stay was amazing, it is a fantastic all-inclusive, but we wasted the first four hours of our short 4 night vacation. All the fun and adventure of arriving on the island was lost. We did not touch our welcome drinks. We did not get to appreciate and enjoy the anticipation of the boat ride, the smiling greetings and warm towels because we still just trying to get to the front desk to confirm we had a clean safe place to sleep in an isolated part of a foreign country. Again, let me make this clear, once in the hotel the manager did an amazing job calming us down and making sure everything got sorted out. They put us in a beautiful room with a fantastic view and we had no other issues once they figured out what happened, but remember, initially they offered to do nothing to help us. If I did not suggest booking a new reservation and had the ability to throw a big chunk of money on a credit card (that still has not been refunded) we never would have made it to the hotel. We would have been trapped with our luggage nowhere near an airport, with no phone that worked, with no reservations or transportation to get anywhere. The fact that we are considering going back, is a huge statement about how much of a paradise the place is.

Amazing!!

Best all inclusive resort we’ve been too!! From the service to the grounds there are no complaints at all! Service was impeccable. Grounds were very well maintained! Food was great every single time! Views were to die for! My husband and I booked this trip for 5 nights. There was never a bad experience. Staff was very helpful with anything! Public’s beach is definitely worth seeing during the day for the culture and shops. I’m already planning my next trip! Pictures online DO NOT do this place justice.

Amazing!! Amazing!!
