Good resort, if you're on a budget

So much to say! My friends and I went last week for 4 days (just got back last night) and I have to say I was very disappointed in this resort. I have traveled with cheapcaribbean numerous times and have never been disappointed before. Don't get me wrong, this resort is a good option if you are on a strict budget, like my friends were, and want to get away to the beach. However, if you are a seasoned vacationer, you will likely not be pleased. The service is awful. It is as if you are bothering the staff no matter what you ask. There were a couple of good waiters - Fernando was great, and one good bartender - Hector. Most others barely cracked a smile and did nothing to accommodate you. For example, I couldn't even order the drink I liked because the hotel was out of limes and/or mint most of the trip there (how can that be possible??). They didn't even try to look for any, and then, at night, the restaurants amazingly had these items. The drinks were bottom shelf, most out of a drink dispenser from bottled mixes. We were told that we could not make reservations to the a la carte restaurants because they were booked and we were "supposed to book reservations at them before we got to DR") what?? Well, we decided to just go the restaurants anyway and they took us right in (they were always empty - maybe 5-7 tables filled each night.) Don Pablo was very good and the service was decent there (because Fernando was the waiter there as well). The beach was beautiful - not the blue/crystal water you might think, but it was very well-maintained and the palm trees are amazing. We loved it. HOWEVER - you cannot get a clean towel in this resort to save your life. Every single day, the towel people said they were out of towels, and were told to put their names on a list for when they are clean. We were told by numerous people that they never received towels and had to use their room towels. The towel people are incredibly rude and do not care that they have a beach resort with no clean towels. They almost laugh at you when you show your disappointment. We had to use our wet, dirty towels everyday until we complained to a manager and received some clean ones to our room at NIGHT (for one day). I've never seen anything like it. There's so much more to say, but I'll just end with - if your main priority is budget, then this will be a fine resort for you. I would never go back and I would never recommend this resort to a friend.

Great Value

My partner and I booked a 4 night trip for $800 a person all inclusive. We were iffy at first because you can't do anything for 4 nights that involves flying and a hotel in the US for the same amount of money. Once we checked into the room, we knew it was going to be a great trip. If you want a relaxing getaway where you can drink by a pool, this is perfect. If you're tryin' to party, this probably isn't the place for you. There were a lot of older couples, a lot of non-Americans. Overall, loved it, would go again! Side note - I wasn't sure how being a gay couple would go over in the DR, but everything went great. The resort was very respectful and it wasn't weird at all. Finally USE THIS WEBSITE TO BOOK TRAVEL TO/FROM THE HOTEL. They take care of everything, it's a great value. Also it's about a 40 minute drive from the Airport to the Resort which in the DR is like a $150 cab ride.

Despite horrible Spirit Airlines Great tripl

The Luxury Bahia Principe was magnificent. The resort was breathtaking. Beautifully manicured landscape upon approach to resort.Open air lobby is beautiful comfortable place for relaxing. Staff went out of their way to make my vacation one to remember. I totally fell in love with this resort. The food was delicious. I was easily able to make dinner reservations for every night of my stay. Arranged a wonderful tour through concierge. Spent a very nice day in the mountains met local family and tasted local foods. Tour guides Roberto and Caco were fun and accommodating. One of the best vacations ever. However, my flight was booked through Spirit Airlines/ Fort Lauderdale. While I realize that the very low cost of the flight helped to make my trip cheaper the service was horrible. I’d rather pay more than ever fly Spirit again. I arrived at Fort Lauderdale and was checked in approx 45 minutes before take off. I was not allowed to jo to the gate and was told “you’ll never make it” causing me to miss my flight. Thankfully when I called CC was able to get hotel to change my dates so I wasnt cheated out of a day. However I was forced to shell out an additional 600.00 in changed flights and overnight hotel stays. Never ever flying Sprit again. I don’t care how cheap it is
