EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING

I'm not sure what some of these reviews are talking about. This resort was absolutely amazing. I'll start by saying this is the first all inclusive resort that my boyfriend and I have been to. We were blown away by everything offered here. Our room was clean with a large patio. It faced the buffet side and some of the jungle. Lots of animals and people watching. The shows at the theater do run a little late depending on your schedule (between 10-11pm). So if you go to bed early or have kids maybe ask for a room on a different side. Room service put petals on our bed and cleaned every day even though they didn't need to. All the staff is so friendly and will always say "hola" when you pass by. Servers know multiple languages but we tried our best to speak Spanish to them. The food was great!!! Unlimited sushi buffet on our last night. Great breakfasts. Amazing dinner with drinks and wine all included! We did two reservations at the Mexican and Japanese restaurants. The Japanese was really good but serving sizes were small. When we finally went to the buffet for dinner we said we should have done this every night instead! We both went back for seconds every time. The fruit is so fresh and juicy. Sushi was GREAT. We made sure to tip the servers, housekeeping, etc. Even a few bucks is a nice gesture. Did i mention room service? Get the Tacos al pastor and a bottle of wine and you'll be set for a great night. We booked one snorkeling tour with the front desk. The concierge was SO helpful and nice. We even got a drink while we got checked in. Everyone made everything so easy, it really was a relief to know we were in good hands. We felt VERY safe in this resort. Lots of checkpoints and security. Very reassuring. 100% add the Amstar travel at checkout! They made everything seamless and easy. Well worth the money. I would TOTALLY go back to this resort again. Probably the best bang for your buck out there.

Went here on my honeymoon, the weather was perfect, the room service tacos were excellent, helpful staff, the Japanese steakhouse was delicious even though you can only make 2 reservations per stay at the nice dinner places. Free room service was awesome, we basically lived off that! Can I emphasize the tacos a little more?! Best tasting thing at the resort other than the Japanese food. I say so much about the food because it’s tough to find the really good stuff, the buffets are ok. If you’re a foodie you’ll need to search and dig for the good stuff. The seaweed on the beach, the beach is amazing, but it’s smelly in early March because of the seaweed. And oh, go rent a Catamaran and go sailing!! So much fun and this resort lets you take them out for free! Great way to learn how to sail! Overall a good experience, though it’ll cost ya!

Great Place to Relax

Despite having been at Iberostar Tucan when some seaweed hit, I still had a wonderful, relaxing time. The food options at the buffet were phenomenal - tons of fresh, tropical fruits and a variety of fresh vegetables on the salad bar and in other areas, and freshly prepared tropical fruit nectars. I am vegan, and I ate like a queen, but for those who eat anything, there was everything to eat at the buffets, from any kind of fast food to chef prepared seafood and shellfish dishes and other types of meat dishes. The breakfast buffet had every kind of breakfast food one could want. The yogurt bar even had raw nuts and seeds on it, and there were so many kinds of breads and spreads for them. The lemon sorbet at dinner was delightful, and they also had other flavors of ice cream, including cappuccino. As a vegan, I only ate the sorbet, but other people were wolfing down the other ice creams, so they must have been tasty. The coffee was good, and they had espresso drinks, too. The service was always attentive and cordial in any part of the resort. The pools were large and very clean, and there was entertainment for those who wanted that in some areas and at the theatre at night. The only complaint I would have there is that if your room is close to the theatre, you will hear the show, but it does not go on too late. I loved the natural landscaping sections of the resort and enjoyed waking up to howler monkeys and seeing them in the trees. There were beautiful peacocks everywhere, along with other wildlife. That was most enjoyable. The jungle massage was also wonderful, and with the 50 minute massage, I was given a complimentary hour at the spa to enjoy different types of hydrotherapy. I had never seen so many modalities for that. It was fabulous. The resort is beautiful, well kept, with koi ponds, fountains, and Mayan style art all around the main buildings. My room was very nice, with marble tile throughout the bath, on the floors, and on all the countertops in the room, and it was scrupulously clean. The bed was comfortable enough, though I was not fond of my pillow. It was not horrible, just not great. I can tell that the beach is awesome when there is no seaweed. They did their best to clean the sand of it, but there was a lot while I was there. It happens sometimes in that area. Had the beach been clean of that, I would have given this place 5 stars on everything. The walks on the beach were nice, but I missed wanting to get in the water more. Still, I was happy with my stay there. If you want to leave the resort, the avenue leading to town is filled with beautiful homes, and there are Mayan ruins along the way, too - all within walking distance. Big bang for the buck.

my favorite of the pools beach at the resort, without the seaweed

Last min getaway

I decided last min that I need to get out of town for a little R&R. I've stayed at another Iberostar in the past and loved it so I decided to give this one a try. The grounds were beautiful. That jungle walk is amazing, and you encounter several animals. The best hands down were the howler monkeys. The pool is amazing. The beach was gorgeous, but on my first day, there were rough waters and lots of seaweed. I saw employees working hard to clean it up. By the next day, the waters were much calmer and much of the seaweed was gone, so there were a lot of people swimming. It's a gorgeous beach even if you just want to walk around. The employees were great, super friendly and always saying hello. I only went for 3 nights but I plan to go back. Great for peace and quiet, family friendly. Night shows were great. There's a marketplace about a 5 min walk if you need to buy souvenirs or toiletries, and I was told it's a 5 minute taxi ride to town. I didn't make my way there but plan to do it next time.
