My experience in punta cana

The resort was beautiful and big. Upon arrival, we were nicely greeted by resort employees. We met with Cecilio who was very helpful! We upgraded to the jr. suites where we really enjoyed the privacy and comfort of our room. However, some amenities were missing. Although it took some time after we addressed them they did answer most of our requests. The food was definitely a 5 star. I really enjoyed it and it was delicious. They had a lot of variety. The only problem is the times are really strict and you might have to walk from one side of the resort to another which can be a pretty long walk. The pool was fine but there was no pool bar which was ok. They had an awesome employee Maria who would bring you drinks near poolside. During my stay, only one pool was in service. The other was under construction. They promised that it would be working by the third day but it still wasn't open even after we left. Overall I had a good experience because most of the employees were great. We did discuss a couple things such as miscommunication. We couldn't make reservations to Oriental Restaurant and we were getting mixed answer. Someone said there was a fumigation happening, someone else said it was booked and someone else said that it was too late. The inconsistency made us a little wary and decreased our trust on the hotel. While I don't think we'll return to Iberostar Punta Cana, we definitely will try to check out other Iberostar locations.

Iberostar Wins Us Over Again

We came here for our honeymoon. This was our second trip together out of the country and we had a blast! Like every place - It has its pros and cons: Pros: -Entertainment was amazing! We chose an Iberostar again because we love the daily activities including water polo, horseshoes, archery, bocce ball and many others. The nightly shows in the theatres are also their own spectacle. -We had fun times at the disco and the casino. Very fun experiences that most adults will enjoy. -We are avid gym people and were huge fans of the gym. They have an area with equipment in addition to the studio rooms they use for their classes. We were big fans of the TRX and boot camp classes. Honestly one of our favorite amenities about Iberostar. -Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. We had great sleep every night. AC worked, fan worked, and we were always provided with enough towels and shower supplies. 0 complaints about room service! -The pool was great. We spent most of our trip in or around the pool and although there was no swim-up bar, there are bars nearby with attentive staff ready for us the moment we walked up. -Staff is super friendly. It's always a welcoming and pleasant feeling when you are greeted with a smile and a hello everywhere you walk. Makes you feel like your at home. -The price was more than reasonable. We continued (And will continue) to use CheapCaribbean.com because of the deals and we could not have asked for better. Cons: -We read a lot of reviews about the seaweed on the beaches in Dominican Republic. It wasn't too bad the first 5 days we were there, but the last couple of days became a nuisance being in the water and having seaweed constantly brushing up against you. This wasn't a big deal to us because it is truly out of anyone's control and we don't blame Iberostar Punta Cana for this - It's nature. -The food at the buffet was so-so. There was a wide variety, but my wife is big on her vegetables and the closest thing to what she was looking for was broccoli which was too soggy every day. But if you're a fan of fried food, you will be in heaven. -Although our Oriental dining experience was a delight, our dinner at the steak house was far from enjoyable. My ribs were too tough to even chew, and my wife's steak was too fatty and too overcooked to eat. This was the worst of our experiences we had on this trip. -This resort is small. It doesn't take long to walk around the place and we enjoy walking looking at the scenery. We know this isn't a must-have but this is more of a personal con for us. We give this resort a 4/5. We had a wonderful honeymoon, met some great people, and have again felt like we made the right decision booking at an Iberostar. Thank you for the memories!

Not the experience I expected

I have vacationed at other Iberostar Resorts in other island and my mistake was thinking that this resort was going to live up to the other resorts, and it certainly did not. First and foremost the whole resort is open, there is very and I mean VERY MINIMAL air conditioning. It is the most uncomfortable thing to eat your dinner in pure humidity & heat; in addition, the resort clearly has an issue with ice because they serve every drink warm and you have to continuously request ice! This brings me to the food, if you are going to this resort to expect to at least have a few Dominican dishes, you will be highly mistaken. The food was a major let down, if you can book reservations do so but only to the steak house and Mexican Resturant( the only Resturant with AC!) because the sea food Resturant is terrible and you will get tired of terrible buffet food. The servers were rude and the room was moldy and outdated. I requested an extra pillow for me and my guest and they refused to provide the pillow. A positive was definitely the pool and beach. The resort has a number of pools that you can enjoy and the beach was cool, but full warning it has tons of seaweed!!!! And the WiFi was pretty strong..... unfortunately my trip was way too many days spent at Iberostar Punta Cana, if your looking for a relaxing trip, then I suggest no more then 3days here if you can’t find any other resort in Punta Cana.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive escape on sands known 'round the world - the epic Bavaro Beach.

Saying buh bye to stress with a Shiatsu massage, Swedish sauna & facials at the spa.

Stoking your metabolism with aerobics, then destressing with yoga.

Releasing your beach munchkins to Lucy's Club while you enjoy a cocktail or five.

What We'd Change

Like most all inclusive resorts, there's a strict reservation policy for the A la carte restaurants. Still, the steaks at La Cana are worth the trouble!

Why You Should Go

It's 45 minutes from the airport. Don't get antsy, beach lovers. We see welcome drinks in your future.

There's a mangrove jungle walk with a mini-zoo for kids. Big kids might dig it, too.

You can tee off at the Iberostar Bavaro Golf & Club, an 18-hole golf course designed by P.B. Dye.

There's wave after wave of water sports: kayaking, windsurfing, diving, you name it.
