Perfect family getaway

This vacation was a once in a lifetime trip for an extended family with 3 generations. The ages ranged from 7-71. We had 4 different rooms and flew from 2 different cities. Despite coming from 2 different cities all 11 of us arrived within 20 mins of each other ( my sister early enough to pull all our luggage off the carousel while we went through customs!) the transportation was seamless and the staff so helpful. It rained as we awaited our van, but we had a beer in hand and by the time we were checked into the resort it clear up and was beautiful. The resort was stunning, our rooms were right on the beach, ours even had a walk out directly to the sand! All 4 rooms were very close. With 11 people you have 11 interests, but everyone was able to find something to do that made them happy. The staff was amazing! They accommodated us prior to arrival and we were able to make dinner reservations for 11 at a different a la carte restaurant for each night. A development that came about after we booked was the discovery that our 15 year old is allergic to both gluten and dairy. I brought a ton granola bars just to be safe! But when we arrived concierge learned about her allergies and wrote an official Iberostar letter in Spanish to communicate her needs. Each server, manager and chef were amazing and took great care to make sure she was safe and enjoyed her meal! What a blessing and relief! We enjoyed 2 excursions, Tulum (all 11 of us) and the Dolphin swim (just my 4 immediate family) at Delphinus. Both were amazing and worth the extra money! We utilized the photographer to do a family session on the beach and Jason was spectacular, we got some amazing shots that will be cherished forever. All in all we loved the resort, the beach, the views, the pool, the entertainment and the food. We were really happy. My family thanked me every day for planning this trip that they would never have done otherwise. If given the opportunity we will definitely return again!

Be more attentive

Over winter break my family and I took a vacation to your beautiful resort to escape the cold and enjoy the holiday. Although the over all experience was good considering your on the beach when its -6 back at home the service this property provided is in need of improvement. More then 5 hours I spent trying to figure out my room key/door reader. Each night after a certain time either my keys or my door reader would not work and around 2 or 3 in the morning this is not the issue your looking to run into. There are trollies however at this time the amount of trollies available are minimal so I had to walk back and forth to the lobby each time this happened which as you know isn't right around the corner its a good 7-10 min walk and after all the amazing drinks your bartenders make is not the funnest adventure to have to go on. Front desk were quite condescending I spoke with Arturo, Ana, Lety, not one of them apologized Ana even laughed it off and told me to take her name so if the problem wasn't fixed they would change my room. The day after it happened again, so I walk to the lobby once again asking to speak with a manager when human relations came out. Told her I am not going through the process for the 3rd time that I wanted them to change my room and have someone move our luggage as I was told would happen the day before, which they then had to call and confirm with Ana which shows nothing was noted about the incident. We waited 40 min for them to confirm when we then get back to the room where security and standing asking for my room key convinced it worked after I just spent 40 min at the front with human relations. At this point I am beyond frustrated I call down to the front desk asking to speak with Lety or someone that I had already been working with and get the Assistant Manager Octavio. Who seemed to have no information on the situation which as an assistant manager seemed a little surprising so I explained the situation for now the 6th time for him to tell me that he will talk with his team and call me back. Last funny part about the whole situation is that after Octavio told me the room would be ready by 3 I still didn't get into the room until 4 having to contact multiple different people (security, housekeeping, bellman) to get my room keys when I specifically asked multiple times if i needed to pick up the keys and I was told I would not someone would bring them to me. After I finally got my keys I walk in and find lights out the room was run down, only 1 outlet in the main room, called down for an extention cord (which was never brought up). As someone that is in the hospitality field I understand that things happen not everything is always perfect which is why I took all the correct measures to get the issue resolved before having to contact a manager. It was just one of those things that led to another and led to another, all I really wanted was to either have the batteries changed in the door reader or to be moved to a room that didn't have the same issue. With the lack of empathy and urgency your team showed to fix the problem was the most frustrating. I understand it is a huge resort with more then 1,000 rooms but if you keep record or resolve the issues when it is first noted from guest there will be less recovery needed.

Great value resort

Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar is one of the four hotel-resort group on the same site. It is huge and the price is great considering the inclusive package provided. We stayed in a junior suite and the room was clean and comfortable. We do appreciate the services including the golf car around the big resort. We spent a lot time staying at the great beach and the pool, especially enjoying what has been offered at the grill and bar. The only thing needs to be improved is the dinner options. The variety at the buffet was not that much and you could only reserve two private dinners while staying at the hotel for four to six nights. Overall it is a great vacation package.

Very Nice Resort

My wife, son and I decided to go to Mexico last minute over Christmas and we were so glad we did. I was not planning on staying at Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar but we got a really great deal on Black Friday and decided to book. Now I read several reviews on a couple different sites and you never know what to believe and what not. We were just in Punta Cana in July which was an all inclusive, and Iberostar beat our Punta resort hands down in just about every category but Entertainment. So I will take you through start to finish. We had direct flight there which was awesome. The airport was a bit nuts when you get outside and go to find your transportation. We luckily booked with the right limo service and got out of there rather quickly. The resort was about 40 minutes away from airport and we arrived and it was decorated so nice for Christmas (so nice at night when lit up), and not overly crowded in lobby area. Check in went fast and smooth, except for when he told us that they only had a room with a king bed and pull out couch. When I booked, I booked two double beds room and was not about to have my 15 year old sleep on a pull out bed when I paid all this money. They told me that you are not guaranteed that when you book and we put up a fuss and magically they found a room with two doubles. The room was nice with a balcony. It was cleaned and fridge stocked every day and they did excellent job there. The beds were just average comfort, not overly uncomfortable but the pillows are horrible.. like putting your head on a brick. We actually took pillow case off and used the throw pillows as they were far more comfortable. I can't complain about the room because we were not in it hardly at all except to sleep. We had 6 beautiful days of weather. The ocean was amazing with the best waves of any beach I have been to. We spent every day there and not much time at pool since it was not heated (not even the hot tub). The pool is massive, but the ocean water was warmer. The beach does not have enough lounge chairs. People go down at crack of dawn and save chairs. We had a couple bad experiences. First day, we go down to beach and every chair was taken or saved with towels these people were nowhere to be seen. So we find two with just one shoe on each (and no towels) on them and I moved shoes and put my stuff on them and my wife got all paranoid and said lets just go to pool. So I was getting our stuff and ready to put shoes back and this guy comes and says did you move these shoes? I said yes, but we are leaving to go to pool. So we watch and he had six other chairs saved across the boardwalk on the other side and was saving these two as well but he was only one there. So we marched up to him and said oh so you are over here and saving chairs way up there too? He said we have 8 people.. I said I don't care, where are they right now and we paid to stay at hotel too and can't even come to beach because people like you are greedy and we just left and went to pool. We came back to beach a few hours later and found chairs. But what we learned later in week is that if someone just has towel on chair and not personal items, you can call security and they will move towel if person is not there. They also do the same thing at pool saving chairs with towels early in morning. So get up early (before 8am) and get down to beach and put personal items with your towel on chairs if you want to get one. So later in the week, we had 3 chairs with towels and shoes and stuff on them.. and we spent couple hours at beach and go to grab lunch for like 15 minutes. We come back and someone stole one of our chairs, towel and all and threw other stuff in the sand. I was so furious. We could see the drag marks across the sand, going across the boardwalk right to these french people that had hotel white towels but one girl had a blue towel. I know it was them but couldn't just go accusing so I asked a few people around us if they saw anyone take it, and no-one did. I was livid. I went to towel hut and threw a fit and told him I wasn't paying for towel when it got stolen. He gave me another towel. I should have called security but since he gave me towel, that was good enough for me. I couldn't believe someone did that, so just beware if you leave your stuff unattended try and have someone close to you keep an eye out for chair and towel thieves. You would think a resort this big would have more chairs for the number of guests it accommodates. The pool is same way, it's huge but not enough chairs. Also be warned if you ask any concierge a question about anything, they always come back to the timeshare speech. They hit us right away first day, we told them we'd think about it [which we had plan going in to shut them down quickly]. Another day, my wife went to book diner reservations, they tried again, she said we'd think about it. Another day, I asked about where I could print out my boarding passes, they hit me again.. keep in mind this was three different people. They are kind of relentless..so if you need to ask a question, try and ask it and get away fast. The food was good, the service in restaurants was average sometimes really good, sometimes not. I have issues with the limitation on the number of reservations you can make..it goes by number of days you stay. It was not like that in Punta Cana, where we were able to make reservation every day for the specialty restaurants. We had reservation at steakhouse (which was excellent and best meal I had) at 6:30 and most of the place was empty but we tried to get in again after we used up our allotment and they told us it was full. So they give you cards to fill out in buffet and they come around and look at your answers and watch as you are filling out. I actually had a chef see my answer for food and he said something to me about it. I gave poor score because of the reservation limitation (and even wrote that in the space provided for comments. I changed it to average because of what he said to me, but I didn't like being watched and told something about my answer. I would never fill out a survey again while dining. Anyway, these are all minor things compared to what I read others say. This place was very nice, well maintained, all kinds of wildlife.. we actually witnessed male peacocks strutting and fully spread his feathers for the ladies, two different times...this was so cool. The entertainment was half and half in comparison to Punta Cana resort. There were a couple of shows that we didn't like and the rest were awesome. The Mexican dancing show was really good, except for some reason kids were running everywhere before and during the show and the parents just let them do it. It was so bad that these two kids were chasing each other for like 15 minutes of the show and my wife got fed up and went over and yelled at them to sit down. Then this one mother was like 20 feet from her kid who was rolling around on floor and running back and forth to her screaming and he almost climbed the stairs to the stage during the show. So the guy on stage was doing a lasso routine and actually got distracted by this kid and messed up several times. But no-one said a word to these people. So other than these few minor things...we had excellent vacation and I would so go to Mexico again over Christmas. Checkout was fast and easy. We didn't have direct flight home, but who cares we left paradise to go back to snow. I would recommend staying here and if you see a deal on CheapCarribean for an Iberostar hotel, I strongly suggest you take it.
