Pure Heaven

This was our first stay at "The Grand Hotel Paraiso" and from the moment we arrived we were in heaven. We upgraded to an ocean front room which was a great decision because the views and room were outstanding. The main pool which was a salt water pool was the most amazing, clean and largest pool I've ever been in. Floating in it I felt like I was melting away with the beautiful sun on my face and the views. The service could not have been better, Victor took care of us I think we were in bldg. #7 and he could not do enough for us every day. The food was amazing especially Tony's (the filet mignon was to die for) and the food at the buffets were truly the best I've ever been to having anything and everything one could ask for. Breakfast outdoors every day in the beautiful sunny breeze was heavenly and our waiter "Miguel Novelo Vitorin" made our breakfast every day even better with his always friendly service and smile and he always made each of us feel special, thank you Miguel! If I had any negativity it would be the Japanese Restaurant, our waitress was horrible, not at all friendly and the service and food were not much better. Also the bar tender at the "swim up bar" at the pool I think his name was also Miguel was very rude and never looked at you while ordering, he seemed like he hated his job? We would love to return some day and will recommend this place to all friends and family. Patricia and Richard Frauton

Amazing hospitality...only ONE critique!

Having visited many resorts in the US and Caribbean, I have a certain level of expectation for what I consider to be great hospitality, and I'm very pleased to say that this resort was top notch! From our uber attentive and friendly butler, Victor, to the many resort attendees who remember you from the day before, Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso did an excellent job in training their staff in hospitality. With a background in hospitality myself, there was a constant feeling of professionalism amongst all the staff, which is very important to me. You never felt that you were asking for something too far fetched or unobtainable for anyone of the team members to assist you with. They collectively followed the resort's mission of "everything is possible" even if it was not, by offering another alternative or finding the appropriate person who could assist you. Our philosophy is to always tip our service team, and in this case, the staff always seemed genuinely appreciative of what you gave them. We never felt like their level of service lacked if you chose not to tip, which is sometimes hard to find, which made us even more grateful for the service we received. Hospitality is key, and this place simply got it! The one and only critique I had for this resort was the lack of ease when trying to get in to the restaurants. Having arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, it seemed reasonable to try and book some restaurant reservations the next day after arrival for the week. This is where it seemed to go awry. For the 5 nights that we were there, we could only seem to book a reservation at just 1 of the on-site restaurants. Strange. How could they ALL be booked up for the rest of the time we were there? After some questioning to the concierge, it seemed evident that this was something out of their control with the ratio to restaurants management has open during the different weeks to servers available for customers. Again, very frustrating and strange that a beautiful resort of this size hasn't figured out their reservation process. We would have been completely dissatisfied in this specific area except for the fact that the buffet food was so great that it was simply hard to complain. Their culinary team definitely had a great approach to making the buffet feel customized on a daily basis, as well as, never feeling like we were eating at a mass sized buffet with half-eaten trays of food or sloppy buffets areas. Again, they get a shining star here as well. All in all, there was definitely great value in this resort. Our oceanfront room in bldg. 70 was extremely clean and magnificent opening right up to the palapas in front of the sea, and the beach never seemed overly crowded. The food was delicious with many changing options daily (and I'm a picky foodie), the service was unbeatable yet not annoying, and their properties were lush, tropical, clean and simply beautiful to wander around, which is why we'd most likely return...if they figured out their dinner reservation system. Side note: There were 2 beautiful spas with a full spa circuit and juice bars, and the gym facility was brand new with many fun group classes to choose from as well. There was always a golf cart within a few minutes wait time to take you back to where you came from or wanted to go. I'd highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a calm, serene, relaxing getaway that doesn't give you the feeling of being desolate or completely isolated.

Best Resort ever

We we most impressed from the moment we checked in until check out. Excellence all around is the Grands moto and they did not disappoint in any department. At 65 plus all services , food , entertainment was well above expectations and we joined the Ibeostar Prestige program. Highly recommended for a quiet get away with all the 5 star features. Well above our expectations.

Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

This was our 4th visit to the property- and it truly measured up as always. The only downside is the getting restaurant reservations- in our 4 night stay the Venetian (Italian) restaurant was CLOSED for 2 nights and the Gourmet restaurant (L'Atieur) was closed for 2 night- forcing us to eat at the buffet and no option to dine were we wanted to eat. given it wa high season, the resort was very busy and should be more accommodating to dining choices. All in all everyone had a great time!
