Nice facilities, poor service

Very poor customer service. Started with mix up with one of our 4 rooms. Front desk staff was arrogant and indifferent. Left voice mail with corporate and expected us all to sit until return call which could have been next day. We made several suggestions to at least let us have something to drink and we were refused. We had to have three different people making phone calls from our party which took 2 hours to straighten out. We spoke to customer relations the following day. Had very little done other than apologies until 4 days later when management offered to let us use the Prestige area of the beach which was pleasant. We have all been to several Iberostar Grand properties including this one in the past. The staff has changed dramatically. They mostly seem resentful of Americans which had never been the case in the past. Specifically we all got eye rolls with every non wine request with meals. I ordered coffee 2-3 times at every meal and by the 3rd day of not ever getting a cup of coffee I just went to the kitchen myself and got coffee for myself. They seemed put off by this but it was the only way to actually get any coffee. We ordered room service and met with 3-24 hour delays. I found I had to sit in front of whoever I asked until the request was honored. Sadly the disrespect for guests was actually fairly profound. I am a native speaker of Spanish but only spoke English to see what was actually said by staff when unaware they were understood. I heard multiple examples of where the American guests were being openly mocked. A member of my party was insulted with the feminine form of his name and the diminiative form of his name in an incredibly disrespectful manner. Little requests were either met with complete disregard or assurances with no action. Tables were half set up so one always had to either get napkins or utensils from multiple tables. The general attitude is so pervasive that one has to look to management at that time. We had two thing moments with the concierge Miguel and Augusto the beach attendant. They were incredibly kind and hard working. We have been staying at adult all-inclusive resorts in the area 3-4 times yearly for the last 20 years. Sadly this was our worst experience. It was also not cheap costing over 2k for the week. We will sadly not go to Iberostar resorts in the future in that there are very many luxury resorts for the cost that are much more customer oriented.

Rude and Arrogant managers

This was our 2nd trip, and our friends 3rd return to the Grand, as it's called. We arranged, 6 months ago, to get the same rooms as last year. When we arrived, they wanted $350 more for this same room. I asked to speak to the manager. But before speaking to Raoul, a comment was made by a person behind the desk that $350 is not a lot of money. I asked if it could be taken out of her paycheck, and then I suggested that she receive Customer Customer Service training. FYI - I turned 70 on this trip, have been on numerous vacations, and as a former CFO have had much high level business experience. Finally got to talk to a "top manager", Raoul. While explaining my dissatisfaction with the additional room fee, he turned and walked away from me. I have never been disrespected like this in the business world. This man has no business being in his position. The next problem was trying to book the restaurants. Our "butler" tells us the restaurants were filled. Now, there was 40 % occupancy at the resort, and every restaurant was half empty every night. We got reservations when extra money was included in the handshake. It didn't work this way last year. We had 8 people in our party, and more interested to come next year. We all spent more than $1,000 extra at the resort. WE WON'T BE BACK! Do the math Iberostar and see who loses.

tips tips tips

I wish that they just included a tips per day policy.seemed like I was always changing 20's or 50's for tips. very hard to get dinner reservations for 8 people. we should have made them before arriving. couldn't understand why we couldn't get reservations for a certain time say 7 or 730 at the Italian restaurant and when we walked by there were at least 5 to 9 tables empty. I yhink that you should inform ahead of each trip to try to make the reservations before arriving. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
