Don't expect to get your resort credits

The overall experience was good, didn't see any night life after 10:30. The shows were fabulous, however I would not bring a child to some of them as some were a bit risque. Most of the staff were very friendly however the female staff seemed to have more of an attitude in the dining areas. We were given resort credits to which we were told we had to wait until the following day to get. We tried multiple times to get our credits and were not able to get them. They did attempt to get us into a timeshare speech which we were able to dodge. We ended up getting our credits the night before we were going to leave, so we didn't even get a chance to use them. If you don't think you would use them, then this might be the place for you for an average vacation. Also note that there are many restaurants, but they will only give you reservations based on the nights you are staying. We only got 2 for 5 nights, and the only other option is 1 buffet broken into two areas.

Meh.

Bavaro Beach is one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to. This was our second stay on the beach, and we stayed here to try something different from our last hotel. Overall, if this place is considered a 5 Star resort, then my first college apartment was The Plaza Hotel. I need to say that there were some killer key staff members who solely made our vacation. Jensy in the Pool Bar, Mercedes at the Beach Bar, Kelvin at the beach buffet, and Carlos, one of the waiters. Especially Carlos. Best waiter ever. These seemed to be the only people, in my experience, who seemed to care about being alive, let alone good customer service. Waitresses with their phones out texting in public areas, maître d’ Who’d rather watch the football match than greet us at the door. The room was nice. We had a junior suite, and it was a good room. Nothing noteworthy, but nothing to complain about. The maids were also very good, no problems there. The only thing that was truly upsetting was how thin the walls to our building were and their proximity to the theatre for the shows. We brought our 1 yr old with us, and while she’s trying to sleep, there’s a Reggaetón dance contest banging away till 11:30 each night so loud it might as well have been in my bathroom. I called the front desk once around 11:00pm to complain about it keeping the baby awake, amd the answer I got was “don’t worry it’ll be over in a half hour”. I was livid. The beach is super clean and both pools are really really nice, when they’re open. For the first half of our stay, the one pool was closed, being remodeled. They did a good enough job keeping it quiet and unobtrusive, and I’m aware these things must be done from time to time, but we were never made aware of it, as it could’ve been a deciding factor on a few things. The Entertainment staff was really nice, the evening shows we saw get an “A” for effort, and live music on the beach was absolutely ace. That band was fantastic! Let’s talk about the food.... there are 3 buffets, and they were all great. Awesome food, attentive service, A+ there. Then we get into the specialty restaurants. The French place was good, the Steakhouse was average at best, and the Mexican, Asian and American restaurants were absolutely rubbish. I’ve had better food in a shopping mall food court. Joshua, our CheapCaribbean.com representative was also fantastic. All in all, this place was way too expensive for the value as opposed to our last hotel, and we will most likely not be coming back here unless there’s a super good deal, and I know that Carlos and Jensy are working.

Very fun!

This was my boyfriend and i’s first vacation together and it was a lot of fun. This resort is very busy and family oriented so there is a lot to do. The pools and rooms are great and clean but the dining was definitely low quality. The best is the Mexican restaurant. The language barrier can be very difficult but overall we had a great time and the staff is very friendly!

We had a wonderful time!

This resort has beautiful grounds. They keep them very nice. Our room was clean. The pool is beautiful. I think what stood out most was the service. The people are so incredibly friendly and treated us as family. The only thing I would change was the food. While it was good, we were there for 8 days and got tired of eating mostly the same thing. The buffets have different themes, but it still seemed very similar. I thought it was strange that we were there for 7 nights and could only go to a restaurant for 3 of them. The beach is nice and there are lots of chairs. I would recommend going pretty early to ensure you get one. The were red flags and seaweed most of the days we were there, but that is out of everyone's control. Overall, I would recommend strictly based off of the service we received and the love from the people. I think for the price we paid, it was an excellent deal. Thank you, Cheap Caribbean. We will definitely use your service again.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive haven on beautiful Playa Bavaro. Swoon.

Teeing off at the Iberostate Bavaro Golf & Club created by designer P.B. Dye.

The babysitting service (24/7), Lucy's Club (4-12) & Teens Club (12+) - Adult party time.

Melting during a beachfront massage and vegging at the spa's Jacuzzi.

What We'd Change

Beach chairs and palapas go fast, so post an early-morning guard or, if worse comes to worse, snuggle down into that baby-soft, angel-white sand on your beach towel.

Why You Should Go

It's 20 minutes from the airport. Blink and you'll be there.

For scuba folks, there's onsite CDC, PADI, & Gold Palm Resort Diving Center.

After a swim, you can dry off with tennis, riflery, Petanque, horseshoes & more.

There's oceans of water sports: aqua gym, catamarans, kayaking. That's just to start.
