Great trip! Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I have been coming to Mexico for the past 5 years. We always stayed in Riviera Maya and taken a day trip to this resort. I fell in love with it 5 years ago the first time I saw it. Finally convinced my wife to stay here and now I love it even more( and so does she!). Before I get to the resort, let me just encourage you that if you’re friendly and speak spanish, even a little bit, you WILL receive better service. So dust off those High School notebooks or marry someone who is fluent. You won’t regret it. The resort itself isn’t too fancy. It’s simple but great. There are incredible animals around the resort Including peacocks, Iguanas, and a temperamental parrot named Pepé. We stayed in a 1 BR studio. It was cozy but comfortable. The beds were firm and we had the best sleep we’ve ever had on a vacation. We were greated with towel creatures every afternoon. The housekeepers did a fantastic job keeping our room clean and making sure we had fresh towels when we needed them. You also receive nature’s free version of a wake up call every morning. Most of your time you’ll spend at the beach or pool. There are chairs and palapas at the beach for you to sunbathe or nap on. There is a beach bar and burger stand right there for snacks, lunch or drinks. The beach going into the water itself is rocky, but you can enter via stairs from the dock very safely and easily. There are tons of fish swimming around the dock. Some are VERY friendly. You can get snorkeling equipment from the dive shop. Just be aware around dive times, it gets crazy by the shop so be patient. They offer an excellent snorkel trip every afternoon with Berenice for an extra charge. She is EXCELLENT for snorkelers of all levels. If you’re a diver, I’ll talk about the dive shop more later. If you’re more of a pool person, the pool is great too. There is a pool bar and chairs under palapas. Get there early to grab your chairs. The pool does heat up from the sun as the day goes on. If you’re looking to escape the heat the ocean is your better bet. If you’re not interested in DIVING then you can skip this part. The dive shop is one of the reasons I love this resort so much. They are organized and professional. I went on 13 dives during the week and ALL of them were fantastic. The divemasters are top notch and know the reefs very well. They’re all friendly, knowledgeable and make the dives fun. Poli is one of the best instructors I’ve come across. Don’t be afraid to do a pool check with him. After 9 years of diving, he taught me a few things I’ve never heard before. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to dive with Olaf who is one of the best divemasters I’ve met so far. Victoria and Scott were also fantastic and helped make my dives fun and memorable. If you book with them online before you go, you can save 20% off your dives. You can also dive Nitrox for free. Definitely Check them out. Finally the WORST part of our trip was our transportation to and from the airport. This was AMSTAR who we booked through cheap Caribbean. We were three traveling together and met 2 of our family members at the resort. We booked and paid separately, yet Amstar put all five of us together. Being that we all arrived at two different times, this was an issue. They worked it out but this could’ve easily been avoided. For us, when we arrived, we were put in a van and had to wait 30 minutes as they waited for other parties and packed the van in like sardines. We were uncomfortable as we went to the various resorts and it took an extra 60 minutes to get to our resort. Not what you want to go through as you spend the whole day traveling. For the return trip, they sent a small taxi for the three of us. Thank God for the hotel bellboy, David, who got us a larger taxi to accommodate all of us. For what we were charged for our transfer, we would’ve been better off getting our own taxi to and from the airport for a fraction of what we paid for Amstar. Overall, we’ll definitely be returning to the resort in the near future. We were happy and our vacation went smoothly.

Short stay in Cozumel at Iberostar in August

My husband and I decided to book a few days at the beach and we choose Iberostar Cozumel. Mostly because of price. The package out of NY/NJ area was reasonable and it fit our budget and plans very well. The resort was all-inclusive, located on the beach and had a very nice pool area. The rooms left much to be desired. It was the 'standard' room, even though we were able to get a room in a ideal location on the property... close to the pool, beach and the dining hall for the lunch buffet, it was underwhelming. Very small, dark, poorly appointed, no bells or whistles. Just a very small bedroom with no qualities to highlight or accentuate.
