Just returned from Costa Dorada. We had a group of 7. The resort and grounds are gorgeous. Our room was perfect and has a beautiful view of the ocean. The food was plentiful and Delicious. The beach is wide and clean. Workers are constantly cleaning beach of seaweed. Water was a deep blue. Pool was nice, plenty of seating and shade. Staff was amazing! Only watch one show, which was great. Would definitely return

Best Vacation Ever!!!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out it was pure amazingness. Check in was quick and easy with Claudio. He was very informative. The pool area was beautiful and not over crowded. There were many people there and it did not feel over crowded. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was cleaned and stocked daily. We stayed at an ocean view room and they view was breathtaking. The food was to die for. From breakfast to steak and eggs at 4 in the morning after the club. The bartenders were very friendly and accommodating. Our second day there and they knew what we liked to drink and had it ready by the time we went up to the bar. Our bartender at the pool bar was very friendly and helpful. But was made the trip were the entertainers. Blondie, Dominican Justin Bieber and Richard was born for this job. They were awesome that getting the crowd hype. they were there morning till midnight with a smile on their faces all day. We are getting ready to book our next flight and stay here in February.

Best Vacation Ever!!!

2nd time at this resort

Iberostar Costa Dora was as beautiful as we remember it. It only rained one of out 7 days and the rest were sunny and hot. There was some humidity but the wind kept it at bay. It did get quite windy down at the beach starting around 11am and it would kick up the sand and force you to turn your chairs or leave to the pool side where there was very little wind. They had contoured beach chairs this time which helped with my sciatic back issues. And, as usual, the Dominican staff were very kind and always willing to assist. But there was one wrinkle to this trip and it's called "The Club". The main reason we returned was two years ago this facility did not force you to a meeting to offer you a "Time Share". So all you had to do was reserve your dinner times at the 3 specialty restaurants or any excursions you were interested in. But not they pester you with people who need to take up 90 minutes of your time so they can offer you to become part of their "FAMILY". The only good that came from it, after we were informed we couldn't afford the cost, was we were given $100 US to spend in their Market. Needless to say we won't be returning there any time soon.

Still looking for that vacation

Overall I would give Iberostar a 3 out of 5 palms. Service was the reason they scored on the higher end. The staff there are amazing and work so very very hard. At the end of my vacation its what I lamented the most was to leave them. The beach was not swimmable. I am not sure if it was due to the storms these islands have faced in the last year but the water was full of seaweed. The resorts took care of anything on the beach but the water was something different. The winds were really strong that week we were there so it felt coldish. This was so upset. The pool area was adequate. I have issues with children swimming with grown adults. I know this was not an adult only resort. There is not much to do in the resort and that's something they should improve on. If your not drinking or smoking there should be stuff for you to do especially if the weather is not good to be out doors. Entertainment was nightly at 9:30 for one hour. After that you had your choice of dancing in there mini club or staying outside. Not much too do besides head in early. There is no room service, so if you don't eat within the hours given you have no food. There was only one working English channel. No options to upgrade if you wanted to pay for view.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive relax-a-thon on the golden sands of Costa Dorado.

The Turkish bath, and hot stone massages at the stress-smashing spa.

Dropping off the kids at Lucy's Club (ages 4-12) - they draw & read while you play.

Golfing at the 18-hole Playa Dorada Beach & Golf Club that's five-minutes away.

What We'd Change

The guest rooms do not have Internet access, and there is a small fee for access in the hotel lobby. But who goes to Puerto Plata to work on the computer, anyway?

Why You Should Go

It's 20 minutes from the airport - your Dominican dream vacay will begin presto.

This place is all about water sports - kayaks, canoes, Hobie cats and more.

There's a casino for the riskier beach lovers.

For the land lovers, there's tennis, volleyball, a fitness room and more.
