Disappointed family

Ther are no words to describe this resort. Never in a million years would I go there. I had been to another resort in punta cana, but it was amazing unfortunately it all booked for the time of my vacation so I booked at the palladium, the worst place ever in food, service, attention. I’m guessing it’s the managers fault for not making sure the resort is well managed in all the areas.

Terrible

They don’t give you reservation for the Japanese. Employees don’t look at your face when your speaking or wait for you to finish talking and turn their back and leave. The cleaning ladies don’t seem to want to be working there at all. Employees are always talking among them and ignore you when you need something. Rooms are poorly constructed and need to be renovated also the humidity in the rooms is terrible the floors get wet. The food is terrible and at the buffet is the same thing every day for breakfast and the same foods for lunch and it’s terrible

Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Pros and Cons Review

I took this trip with my family of 6 and it was a good experience. The pros include the fact that there’s 12 restaurants to choose from, open free bars at the beach and pools, and the resort was absolutely gorgeous with the hundreds of palm trees and flowers. The restaurants were also decorated beautifully which was pleasing. Another pro for this resort was that the employees were very friendly and made my family feel welcomed everyday. (Especially Melvin from the Travel Club!). My family also appreciated the constant transportation running throughout the resort which included golf carts and children friendly trains. Lastly, it was a very nice touch that they had new fun activities which they updated and posted everyday including daily entertainment shows. The cons for the Bavaro suites include the service. This is due to the fact that they were very slow to respond to our needs. For example, the first night we ordered a blanket for the person occupying the sofa bed since the rooms were very cold. Eventually I ended up having to call the front desk more than 4 times (each time spread an hour or more apart)! And even after the last call where they again promised to bring the blanket, I still did NOT receive it and had to go to the lobby myself and complain the next day. Another example of the poor service includes them not being able to address my very simple needs to replace all alcohol from the mini fridge with water since we do not drink. This favor was also asked multiple times in which they promised to fix yet never did. Another con was the food from the buffet which was not good at all. The taste was not appealing especially for breakfast. Additionally, the cooks did not wear gloves while handling food with their bare hands which is disgusting. Apart from the food, the restaurants had very long waits. Even with a reservation my family had to wait an extra hour just to be seated at La Paisana which halted us from attending any evening activities. This happened almost everyday. Overall the suggestions of the restaurant were good although it would be nice to have a Mediterranean restaurant as well. The on-site doctor was also very poor as my 3 year old caught a virus from the pool and the nurse was unable to do her job correctly. For example, she had to use my thermometer since her’s was broken only to tell us that my kid had a fever, which is an obvious point that we’ve figured out on our own. The last con I think is worth mentioning is the poor security at the piscina pool where my family unfortunately had to witness a completely topless drunk woman roaming around many kids for several hours. Overall, there are more cons than pros in this review because those are the things we tend to remember most as clients. The resort was a great trip for my family and I, but with just a few improvements it would be absolutely amazing.

Not as expected

We went to Grand Palladium - Bavaro Suites as a present for our honeymoon. We were in the Rooftop Suite Terrace which we thought would be one of the better room options. Upon arrival, we were escorted to our room. We were immediately disappointed when we saw the room. The room was not well maintained, the WiFi did not work, and the shower was too small. The security box did not work either. We walked upstairs to the rooftop jacuzzi, which also was disappointing. The jacuzzi was dirty, the stairs to the jacuzzi were broken (I almost fell when one of the stairs gave way completely), and the entire upstairs area was not in good condition. The service was also not up to expectation, we needed a toothbrush and had to call several times and wait several hours before someone came to our room. We waited on hold with cheap Caribbean for two hours in hopes of being accommodated in some way as this was not what we expected at all. While waiting, we went to eat at the 24 hour snack bar. The food was not good. The breakfast buffet the next morning was crowded, poorly presented, and the food did not taste good. We spoke to a local representative from Cheap Caribbean, who were helpful and caring. We were ready to leave the resort altogether when the representatives brought us to a receptionist who took our concerns seriously. He brought us to the guest services manager, who upgraded our room to TRS (The Royal Suites) adult only resort which is another section of Grand Palladium. Our experience immediately improved - the room was significantly better and exceptional, the room service was impeccable and the food was excellent. The rooms were all very clean and well maintained. Overall, we would highly recommend TRS over Bavaro if you are interested in staying with Grand Palladium.

What's to Love

All-inclusive beachy hot spot on the jaw-dropping Bavaro Beach. Totally worth it.

Spectacular service that spoils you from the moment your flip-flops hit the deck. And, reservations not needed at the restaurants.

Five pools throughout the complex where you can sip and sun and savor this vacay haven.

Cocktail service on the beach and at the pool. Let the drinks come to you, while you sip under the Palapa.

Detoxing at the gym, then being pampered at Zentropia Spa - nothing beats sinking into a Turkish Bath.

Activities galore for you and the fam, including a Kid's Club and a club for the teens.

What We'd Change

This is a huge resort, but it has to be if you want all the great features.

Why You Should Go

A short zippy ride from the airport to the resort where a Welcome Cocktail awaits you and the party starts.

You've got privileges at the two other resorts in the Palladium Punta Cana complex. Mega bonus.

A palatial sized resort that caters to all your dining whims. Some are spread out, giving you time to explore.

Themed parties throughout the week - like the Foam party on Thursday. Crazy fun.

Buy your tourist card before you leave - saves a step at the airport so you can get beachy faster.
